Ah yes...takes me back to my Woodstock days. So great!!! Not this manufactured stuff they’re selling in touristy stores all along The Haight-Ashbury district. Actually saw a factory-made tie dyed baby’s onesie with “Hippie Baby” written on it. Definitely not far out.
Need to explain how long you leave it to soak for, did you wet it before?
I was like "dude! You didnt tie it tight enough and you arent supposed to dig the nozzle in! You arent going to get any white!" And then i realized he didnt want white.

The weird thing that the neck tag didn't absorb any of the colors haha
Some of the dyes used for home tied-dye only bond to cotton, the neck tag is generally synthetic.

@@DerIdoof the seams are white because manufacturers use polyester thread which doesn't dye. I tie dye for a living so I know these things.

HOW LONG DID IT SIT BEFORE RINSING? IS THE SHIRT DRY WHEN ADDING THE COLOR? WHAT ARE WASH/CARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR THIS?

Hey Cindy 1) 24 hours before rinsing 2) the shirt is damp (wet it and then squeeze out as much water as you can) 3) washcare instructions would be to not wash it with other pieces of clothing for the first 2 washes atleast. Hope that helps :)
The longer you let it set the deeper the colors. Wash first with just soap to remove any sizing .. don't dry. After the washer spins out excess water. I start with however I plan on folding, crinkling, etc.. once dyed I put into a plastic bag and leave at least 24 hrs or more. Rinse as she did .. then wash and dry. Use 100% cotton or rayon for best results.

Black after the color, rinse after 24 hrs.. at least thats what I'm gathering from this and other instructions

@@steamdespair9189 i never seen how tie die was done or what it even meant. This is the first video i have seen showing the process and it blew my mind. I never really thought about the words "tie dye" i only associated the sound of the word with the pattern growing up. Who knew what amazingly beautiful patterns of colors can be created by "tie dye", that is why i'm here sharing my experience.
In india they do it to saree and clothes. Called BANDHANI

its been awhile since i did tye dye so im getting a refresher course.
I did something similar to that but I had the spiral start from the left shoulder and mine was blue, purple and red.
It came out the same way since I had a tad bit of help from my art teacher in college cos she wanted to see how it would come out.
We made two of them cos she wanted one too.
If you fold the shirt length wise then do everything else the same as this video, it makes a cool spider looking pattern.
I'm very impressed. I wasn't sure about the black on there at the end but WOW I like it 😂

If use Soda Ash, You have to wait 24 hours, But if you use Waterglass, you just need 2-3 hours.
