Start by soaking your tshirt in soda ash for 20 minutes then wring out so your shirt is damp. Then add dye. After dye has been done place in a bag (reuse plastic shopping bag they work great) and let the shirt cure for 48 hours before rinsing in water. Once the water is clear hand wash with a little blue dawn dish soap and rinse again. Hang to air dry. Always wash on cold so colors stay vibrant for longer and dry on cool.

@DianaMoon11428 Sorry I'm not familiar with that method. I only do the traditional dye approach so that the cotton fibers stay in good shape.

Did you soak the shirt in sodium first before applying dye on it? And how did you mix the dye? Is it with warm water?
Yes. Warm water is great for fast color mixing. but its ok if you can mix the color using cold water
