I watched Coda as soon as it came out and it blew me away. I loved it and that’s the only reason I’m watching the Oscar’s. I hope it wins the 3 awards it’s nominated for

Cant wait for this one since alot of these movies Seans hasn’t reviewed yet!
I was simply amazed by what Dune was able to accomplish. I don't know if it has a chance of winning but I'm glad the Academy recognized it as much as it has
Well here we are, after it won 6 oscars.
@@nikulus2840 6 unimportant ones
@@strikerbowls791 I'm sorry but Original Score, Sound, Production Design, Cinematography, Film Editing, and Visual Effects are VERY important. Besides Best Picture, the other categories are equally important. Just because 4/6 of them were called unimportant by the Academy doesn't mean they are.

Aside from Belfast and DLU, everything is at least an 8/10. Still need to see Drive My Car.
Great list! I always look forward to when you do the Best Picture ranking each year. Coda would be my number 1 as well. Just a wonderful little film.
Love it Sean!!! Would love to see a PTA ranking at some point even if it's just one of the mini-videos!
Been excited for this one. Much more than I am excited for the actual Oscar's tonight haha...i'm expecting a disaster.

I either loved or really like all of them. I predict that CODA will win Best Picture tonight, but The Power of the Dog still has a good chance.
Coda may win best picture or licorice pizza
Why did some people consider licorice pizza good?
@@scuproductions I loved it. Easily the funniest movie of the year. The theater I watched it in was howling of laughter throughout the whole thing. Also, it had a great ensemble cast and a lot of heart. The age difference in the relationship didn’t bother me. I mean, Back to the Future is my favorite movie of all time and it features a woman attempting to seduce her future son.
@@whiplash9548 it doesn't bother you? A love with a 15 year old and 25 year old... Doesn't bother you?

9. Belfast (just the definition of meh)
8. Nightmare Alley (excellent beginning and end but slog in the middle)
7. King Richard (just a beautiful heartfelt sports drama)

5. The Power Of The Dog (the more I think about it the more I love it)
4. Dune (seeing this in 4DX was an otherworldly experience)
3. Drive My Car (one of the ones that connected emotionally the most with me)
2. CODA (best crowd pleaser of the year)
1. Licorice Pizza (I am a 70s/80s kid at heart so you make a hangout movie in the vein of Almost Famous I am there. They truly don’t make ‘em like this anymore.)
Why do you think Don't Look Up is bad
@@Man-bu4fe The editing gave me a headache and they hit you over the head with their message
@@Man-bu4fe the comedy was way to obvious that it wasn’t funny. It treated the audience like we were idiots and that the creators are just so smart. Super disappointing as i loved Adam Mckays last 3 films.
Don't Look Up is NOT bad
@@strikerbowls791 thats his opinion and mine as well. And most critics for that matter as it’s currently rotten on RT

Belfast
West Side Story
Nightmare Alley
Dune
Don’t look up
Man you know the Academy Awards are the most prestigious awards show for movies when Sean Chandler does a video about them every year. But anyway I’m so glad you made this video. I’ll be honest, tonight is going to be the first time in what seems like my entire life that I’m not going to be able to watch the Oscars, and ever since I found that out I’ve been really saddened by it, but watching this video really brightened up my day so that you for that.
Here is my ranking of the Best Picture nominees for the 2022 Oscars:
1. Licorice Pizza
2. West Side Story
3. Dune
4. Power of the Dog
5. Belfast
6. Coda
7. Nightmare Alley
8. Drive My Car
9. Don’t Look Up
10. King Richard
The only 4 I’ve seen:
4. Nightmare Alley
3. Licorice Pizza
2. West Side Story
1. Dune
Another factor for Dont Look Up's nomination was that it had more views than Red Notice. More eyeballs=more social media presence so it was definitely one of the year's most discussed movies
I’m fine with either Dune or West side Story winning
My ranking of the nominees are:
1. Coda
2. Nightmare Alley
3. Dune
4. Drive My Car
5. West Side Story
6. Belfast
7. Licorice Pizza
8. Power of the Dog
9. King Richard
10. Don't Look Up
Still my favorites of last year:
1. Pig
2. Candyman
3. Titane
4. Mass
5. Coda
Really great list! My number #1 is King Richard, lovely film
10. Licorice pizza C+ 7/10
09. Don't look up -B 8/10
08. Drive my car B+ 8/10
07. Nightmare ally -A 9/10
06. Power of the dog A 9/10
05. West Side story remake A 9/10
04. Dune A+ 9/10
03. King Richard A+ 9/10
02. Belfast S 10/10
01. Coda S 10/10
You did a genuinely great job with this video! It was just you giving your opinion on all these movies and you said at least one thought I had never heard about any of them.
I’ve only seen 6 of these movies and most of these I only saw because of how amazing I keep hearing they are. I’ll probably watch West Side Story soon as it’s on Disney+ where I live, but for now here’s my ranking……
6. Nightmare Alley
5. Don’t Look Up
4. The Power of the Dog
3. Dune
2. Belfast
1. Licorice Pizza
I completely agree with you on Licorice Pizza. I absolutely loved it. I honestly thought that it should’ve won not only Best Picture, but also Best Original Screenplay.
All I’ve seen:
1. Dune
7. Nightmare Alley- Love it but the more I think about it the less I like it
6. Don’t Look Up- Honestly don’t understand the hate loved it but still not the best one
5. King Richard- It’s great and has great vibes but the main character is so annoying. Will Smith is great tho.
4. CODA- It’s amazing but not really impressive on a technical level at all. The cast is great.
3. The Power of the Dog- I love it more the more I think about it.
2. West Side Story- Everything is just amazing.... except Ansel Elgort
1. Dune- No explanation needed
1. West Side Story
2. Coda
3. Dune
4. King Richard
5. Licorice Pizza
6. Don’t Look Up
7. Power of the dog
8. Nightmare Alley
I wanna see Drive my car but it’s 3 hours long so I don’t know. Belfast I have no interest in.
Sean you called it!!! Coda
I COMPLETELY agree with everything you said about Don’t Look up. I thought it was a pretty bad movie and I have some people in my life who LOVE the movie and I truly can’t understand it 😂I didn’t even laugh much during the movie and I expected more from an amazing cast like that one. Disappointment for me!
well probably ur expectations spoiled ur experience, i loved the movie tho
My ranking: (I liked all of them so keep that in mind)

I'd go for West Side Story as my #1 because it's ofc Steven Spielberg, and it's a brilliant reimagining of a classic musical film
Oh yes.

You got #1 and #10 right! Drive my car was soooo good.
Had you seen CODA before you made your 10 Best Movies of 2021 video, where would it have ranked?
Hey Sean, I was wondering if you have ever considered watching Arcane. It's one of the best shows released last year and I would 100% recommend it.
Yes!!!!! I'm so happy CODA is number 1 on this list. I knew that Dune, King Richard and CODA would be the top 3, but I didn't think CODA would go to the absolute top. It's my favourite of the nominees too. I just love how it made me care about this family (with as you said, has nothing in common with my life), and I love how it made me look at the situation. We see her side on why she wants to go to Berklee, but we also understand why they want her to stay (cuz we saw what happens when she isn't for one day).
My ranking of the nominees (that I've seen):
1) CODA

Licorice Pizza was my favorite of the 10 films. Have you seen any of the Best Picture nominated films for this year?
@@cooperwolfe5478 I don't really get into PT Anderson's filmmaking that much, in all honesty Licorice Pizza is probably my favourite movie of his. @@cooperwolfe5478 that is extremely cool. I don't live in the USA so not every awards movie is available to me yet, and I'm also mostly dependent on my close environment as to which movies I go to see (since I don't go to the movies by myself), and they're usually not as into awards movies. Also I don't have Netflix so it's gonna take something really special happening for me to be able to see All Quiet on the Western Front.
Me personally I'm hoping West Side Story wins though Dune would be a game changing best picture winner!
Sean chandler could you do an updated ranking with the New joker from the Batman as well with the update of snyder cut
Drive My Car gets my vote for Best Picture, in a lackluster year, it was a standout.
It gets my vote as well, it was very great. But there were also many movies this year that were great and it wasn’t a lackluster
wtf this year wasn't lackluster
This year wasn’t lackluster at all imo.
This year was not lackluster
I haven’t seen most of them :/
But:
1. Dune
2. Nightmare Alley
3. West Side Story
4. Don’t Look Up
I’d have to put Dune number 1 as it really drew my in and led me to the books, which are incredible, can’t wait for Part 2 and Messiah
