Anderson was first in film in Adventures of Sherlock Holmes aka Held For Ransom (1905). Eille Norwood played Sherlock Holmes 47 Silent Movies (1921-23). Sherlock Holmes surpasses Dracula in film appearances, and if you consider Jesus Christ as a literary character he would surpass Dracula also.
