I hate when people manufacture hype just to sell you overpriced stuff. And this has caused me more damage than what you will ever know but I will keep on doing it.
Incredible! I was literally typing out a request to see if you ever use oils and could offer advice on them, and then you pull them out in the video. Juan always delivers!
Had very good results with the MIG oil brushers. I don't normally paint white armour, but have had good results with the blues on the white Imperial seal the feathers and recesses for Blood Angels. I specifically use starship filth in the intakes/recesses jn gold armour and most vehicles. Some need more contrast and prefer black. Overall very happy with the MIG oil line of products. So many colours!
That's a super good looking white that is super easy. Perfect for that pesky Apothecary model. And those oil brushes are super interesting. Need to see if my local hobby stores stock that stuff. Might just make using oils really accessible.
Hi to my friend Daniil who visited your class in Madrid a couple of weeks ago. Thanks to him you have two new interested and invested subscribers. Basically, me and my wife. We are here to stay 😉
YESSSSSSSS Thank you that looks amazing Honestly, I was having a little doubt "Isn't that little too brown-ish?" when it was 1:1:2 stage, but I guess adding wash and other colors like red, black and etc (at the end showcase) make a lot of diffrence. Looking forward for more 3-steps colors
Hi Juan ive been battling 6mm white scars for months and eventually settled on a similar method - zenithal highliggt with airbrush top.white highlights with brush and, yes, even at that scale.... oil wash
Damn that's a crispy white! Been thinking of doing some White Scars at some point, didn't think of panel lining with oil. I like the brown shade too, gives a more grungy appearance than a black or grey would.
Gunze and Gaianotes both sell a special tool for cleaning up enamel/oil washes. The product names are Mr Cleaning Stick and Finish Master respectively. They work extremely well (won't transfer fibre like cotton swabs) and are worth having despite how simple they are.
Already have a good recipe for White Scars for myself, but I think I might take some lessons learned here! Especially the xpress colors. I have wanted to try oils for a good while, so I really need to give that a go. If anything because my two-step recess shading takes quite a while for my liking, so I'd love to see if I can shorten that with some of these steps.
You are right about Pro Acryl despite having one of the best Whites. This is because most of their paints dry very matte which creates a textured surface. This impedes the flow of contrast type paints. However, recently they started releasing new paints that dry with a Satin finish. They released an alternate version of Bold Titanium White called Heavy Bold Titanium White and right under the label it says Satin and it's great for dry brushing. They also did a 2nd Heavy Satin paint called Heavy Warm White which is also Satin. They also have a few rare Gloss paints. If you dont see Satin or Gloss under the label it will dry matte, and they are very hydrophobic on the wet allette. Also, I was just hoping you would do a video like this with Mummy White to see if it could work for Deathwing. Perfect timing!
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures Fantastic! I just remembreed they also released a Satin version of thier Black. Some of my favorite colors are Dark Sea Ben(Incubi Darkness), Green Oxide(Sybarite Green), Dark Emerald (sort of like Kabalite?)and a paint that is literally called Bone. It looks nothing like Ivory. Its hard to describe... It looks like a Warm greyish beige? and I love it!
Hey Mr hidalgo, I've bee watching all you no skill series and especially love the green armour one for the dark angels could you have a shot at bone armour, I understand you have already covered it but I think many dark angels fans (myself included) would greatly appreciate it, if you see this thankyou. (ps. this recipe looks amazing for apothecaries too, when I pick one up I must try this.)
Amazing how the gray in the deepest shadow only took on a strong bluish quality only after they sepia tones were added. I often forget how colors influence each other in that way.
Excellent work this has given me ideas on how to do deathwing in the zero skill style. Would doing a similar approach using bone colours instead work? or is there a video in the works that's zero skill bone 😅
Love your vids, as a tip to try I use a fountain pen to apply my pin washes and it works super well. Just the $3 not-so-great ones from aliexpress are fine.
Would love to see a video about the reactivation issue. I use the heavy Titanium from Pro-Acryl when applying a dry brush zenithal followed by a good number of the express paints and now you have me nervous.
Amazing tutorial! I use Monument's Pro-Acryl Titanium White and I haven't noticed any adverse effects with my Army Painter Speed Paints. I'd love to know what issues people are having with it. Also, where did you get your bases with the bolter shells on the ground?
It depends on the type of Contrast paint used I guess, I never used Speedpaints myself. The base comes with the model, he is from the Kill Team starter

I don't comment all the tuime, but I watch all of your videos. I love everyone of them, and really appreciate that you do them. Take care Brother!
Thanks mate!! I still remember how watching your DZ battle reports was a massive inspiration for me to start the channel.
Funnily enough, ‘zero skill white’ is what I call myself.
I love you give no s**ts about slamming the other way overpriced brushes. Another amazing tutorial too
I hate when people manufacture hype just to sell you overpriced stuff. And this has caused me more damage than what you will ever know but I will keep on doing it.
@ then make a video about the 5 most overpriced miniature tools and not mention themselves 😂
@heretichobbies lol
That's the best white scar I've seen!!¡
And I've bought the dry brushes because of you and love them!!
THANKS! I really appreciate it
Incredible! I was literally typing out a request to see if you ever use oils and could offer advice on them, and then you pull them out in the video. Juan always delivers!
That's what my partner says
Have Artis Opus not sponsored you yet Juan? 😂

Looks great 😍😍
Gracias, Maestro. Fantastic tutorial and just on time for my next attempt of painting white armour!
Wow, Juan. You're an inspiration to me. I pray that you're having a great day today. Thank you for sharing your process.
Thanks for watching!
I have been enjoying your tutorials for a long time now. It always pleases me to see a new vid😊
Thanks!!
This should be good. TY Juan. ❤
Let’s get cracking !!
That's a super good looking white that is super easy. Perfect for that pesky Apothecary model.
And those oil brushes are super interesting. Need to see if my local hobby stores stock that stuff. Might just make using oils really accessible.
That's why I love them. They make using oils, cheap and accessible.
It's one of the most innovative products in hobby space for me.
Thanks for the video! This series of videos is just amazing, I can't wait for the next part, I'm really curious what color it will be
It's a surprise and a very special episode for me.
Been looking for an affordable brush set!
Ordered!
Thank you sir!!
THANKS! It really helps a slot and they are absolutely amazing brushes
Hi to my friend Daniil who visited your class in Madrid a couple of weeks ago. Thanks to him you have two new interested and invested subscribers. Basically, me and my wife. We are here to stay 😉

I totally agree! This is by far my favourite white recipe.

Mummy white is such a good paint. Gives a lovely smooth tan color with no blotches if you're careful.

I might do in the future, but why not try this:
Zandri spray, Drybrush White, Bag of Bones
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures Will do, thanks!
My sunday morning just got a lot better
"This video isn't about making our lives easier."
*checks title of video Mmmm, ok.
Never change, Juan...never change. ❤
I don't plan to, but I actually mean that it is about making our lives as easy as possible
Amazing how the gray in the deepest shadow only took on a strong bluish quality only after they sepia tones were added. I often forget how colors influence each other in that way.
Color theory is amazing
Mind....blownnnn....
Another banger
Great video:)
Excellent work this has given me ideas on how to do deathwing in the zero skill style.
Would doing a similar approach using bone colours instead work?
or is there a video in the works that's zero skill bone 😅
Thanks, there are several options but a simple approach would be to use Zandelri Dust Spray, with a white drybrush and Bag of Bones Xpress on top
Sounds like a plan! I'll give it a go
Love your vids, as a tip to try I use a fountain pen to apply my pin washes and it works super well. Just the $3 not-so-great ones from aliexpress are fine.
Nice tip!!!
Haha I was looking at the pin wash tools and thinking ..' wait this is just a fountain pen' the other day
Mesmerizing
Dammit JH, I needed this video a week ago!
:) Great job as usual, sexy.
I'm here to learn how to paint white, and hate blue. And I'm all out of blue!
Would love to see a video about the reactivation issue. I use the heavy Titanium from Pro-Acryl when applying a dry brush zenithal followed by a good number of the express paints and now you have me nervous.
They don't reactivate, it's just that the paint might not dry as smoothly as it would over other paints
No blue love yet huh? Oh well I guess i'll have to carry the torch!
I already did blue!!
Could you do purple next? Keep up the great work!
Purple is indeed coming but won't be the next
You mentioned pro acryl’s white reacting badly with something - did I just make a mistake ordering that over the TTC white star 😳
Shouldn't be a problem for 99% of your painting.
Hello juan

I prefer not to use oils (at least for the time being). Wish this was mentioned in the title.
