What a beautiful lavender bag. Drawn threads are really a good idea, and I have now made some for my Inner Wheel group to raise money for our charities. They all were sold in minutes. Thank you so much for such a lovely idea.

Beautiful lavender bag. To tie a straight bow, after the first knot there is a lower and higher ribbon. Take the lower ribbon first to make the first loop and then bring the second ribbon over and under to make the second loop of the bow. That way your bows will always sit straight.

What kind of fabric can I buy to make this?

i would assume that the larger you want an individual lavender bud the more times you wrap it around the needle?

Love this project, and your tips are ones I've not seen elsewhere.
Question: My fabric looks quite similar to yours (from grandma's collection, with that same lace trim) but the threads break when I try to draw them out. I can't even get them pulled out a little bit. Suggestions? Thank you.

Kat Hi Kat, it may be that the cotton has degraded a bit due to age and therefore the threads are a little frail. you could try just pulling slowly and letting the material gather a bit, before you ease this through. once you have one thread removed, it becomes easier as it loosens the threads around it. Failing this you may need to try with some more stable fabric. i hope this helps.

Thank you so much for the prompt answer - I'll be on thee hunt for better fabric. Your video is excellent!

Where do you get the holder to hold the loop?

You can pick them up anywhere on the web - amazon do them - search for 'universal embroidery stand' for floor standing - or 'universal embroidery clamp' for something that clips onto the table. Or.... use a g clamp on a table edge (the cheapest and most stable option. I hope this helps.
