    I purchased a throw pillow years ago, and the reason I have always loved it is because of the ribbon embroidery. I'm so happy that I found your tutorial because now I think I can do this!! Thank you

      Hi Jacqui. Thank you for the lovely comments. It is honestly not a difficult form of embroidery. It is just a case of practice and getting a feel for the ribbon as opposed to working with threads. There are a limited number of stitches too. Try it - it is addictive! 👍💕

      Hi Leona - thank you for the feedback and compliments. I do have a lightbox for tracing which I use all the time. For beginners it is easier to use the window without the outlay of purchasing one, especially if they are not sure they will carry on with embroidery. Is that what you mean? I would be nowhere without my lightbox - love it 😍

    Hello Lorna thank you for sharing this. I have a question for you :). Do I have to use Muslim? Can I make these (roses in silk) on a regular quilt and just add them to a block Im working on (ie) cotton?

    • @lornabateman7002
      @lornabateman7002  Рік тому

      Hi there. Apologies for the delay in getting back to you. It has been an extremely difficult past year for me and I have not been on UA-cam so only getting back to some social media now. Muslin just makes the whole process far easier - I would still use muslin but then cut ti away right up to the embroidery before stitching the blocks together.❤

    Where do I buy real silk ribbon in the U.S.? Will poleyster ribbon work? Great video!

    • @lornabateman7002
      @lornabateman7002  4 роки тому +2

      Hi Leah. I do not work with synthetics as you do not get the same soft effect as you do with pure silk. There are a number of companies selling silk ribbon in the USA - River Silks, Mary Jo Hiney and Treenway Silks spring immediately to mind. Just google it - sure you will find lots of designers selling and hand dyeing ribbons. Hope that helps!

      My sincere apologies for the extreme delay in replying - my past year has not been easy! They are a soft pencil crayon that is suitable for tracing embroidery designs onto fabric. They mostly brush off as you work. They are used extensively in Japanese embroidery. They come in a variety of colours so that you can use dark or light fabrics. Hope that helps a bit. Lorna
