I purchased a throw pillow years ago, and the reason I have always loved it is because of the ribbon embroidery. I'm so happy that I found your tutorial because now I think I can do this!! Thank you
Thank you Lorna, so glad I accidently found your channel and your website. I have purchased your book and today I received this taster kit. I am binding my hoop as I watch this video and will spend tomorrow in following you along on the kit. Fingers crossed I do it justice.
Hi Cindy - wow you are a sucker for punishment😜 I will be onto making more asap. Have a number that I want to work on, hopefully within the next two week! Thank you for lovely compliments - watching all of them is definitely a big one 💖
I am just at the beginning stages of learning about ribbon embroidery. This was lovely. So easy to follow and it makes me feel like I can really do this!
Hi Melinda. It is a lovely craft. The more you do it, the easier it becomes. Just be gentle and manipulate the ribbon as opposed t pulling it like a thread. 👍💗
@@lornabateman7002 i started doing some embroideries this year, to add on my junk journals. If you go to my channel, you will see lots of examples and I will post new videos with embroideries as soon as will create some (will link your tutorials ).
Great Mary Ellen - I love getting feedback like that. Hoping to do more tutorials as soon as 100% back on my feet. Apologies for the delay in replying. 👍🥰
Hello Lorna! I love it!! I can see why you say that stitching with the silk ribbon brings you such joy! You have created some very beautiful flowers on this video. I really enjoyed watching this video, and I hope to try this myself once I have the ribbon. Thank you very much for the well instructed tutorial. I am going to visit your website now. Many Thanks, Samantha😊
Beautiful ribbon work Lorna. You make it look easy but I’m sure it isn’t. Thank you very much for sharing your enormous skills. It makes me want to try and emulate your talents. Xx 💕💕
Hi Jacqui. Thank you for the lovely comments. It is honestly not a difficult form of embroidery. It is just a case of practice and getting a feel for the ribbon as opposed to working with threads. There are a limited number of stitches too. Try it - it is addictive! 👍💕
Beautiful work Lorna. I’m new to embroidery and will certainly try out silk embroidery. You have explained it so well, I only hope I can do your teaching justice. Once again, many thanks. Xx 💕💕
Hi Leona - thank you for the feedback and compliments. I do have a lightbox for tracing which I use all the time. For beginners it is easier to use the window without the outlay of purchasing one, especially if they are not sure they will carry on with embroidery. Is that what you mean? I would be nowhere without my lightbox - love it 😍
Hello Lorna thank you for sharing this. I have a question for you :). Do I have to use Muslim? Can I make these (roses in silk) on a regular quilt and just add them to a block Im working on (ie) cotton?
Hi there. Apologies for the delay in getting back to you. It has been an extremely difficult past year for me and I have not been on UA-cam so only getting back to some social media now. Muslin just makes the whole process far easier - I would still use muslin but then cut ti away right up to the embroidery before stitching the blocks together.❤
Hi Sarah. Thank you for the lovely comments. I am working on improving closeups - all new for me filming with a phone. I use silk dupion, cotton and linen cotton blend. Cotton probably the easiest if you are a beginner. Does that help?❤️
Hi Leah. I do not work with synthetics as you do not get the same soft effect as you do with pure silk. There are a number of companies selling silk ribbon in the USA - River Silks, Mary Jo Hiney and Treenway Silks spring immediately to mind. Just google it - sure you will find lots of designers selling and hand dyeing ribbons. Hope that helps!
Hi Margarita . Glad you enjoyed it. You can find all the kits on my website - www.lornabatemanembroidery.com/product/a-taste-of-silk-ribbon-embroidery-pinks/ Hope that helps. - Lorna

My sincere apologies for the extreme delay in replying - my past year has not been easy! They are a soft pencil crayon that is suitable for tracing embroidery designs onto fabric. Will you make another video with the camera closer to your hoop? It's hard to see your stitching process. ❤
How did you do stem?? Pearl cotton, and couch it on?? Embroidery thread and stem stitch??
I am away on holiday in the US at the moment. As soon as I am back I will answer you 💖
Great video
Thank you 💖
Love this session. Could you bring the work closer to the camera. Thank u so much.
Thanks for sharing. Really enjoyed. Is the side ribbon stitch just placed at each side or is through the side edge of the ribbon?
Yes it is but you enter the ribbon on the side as well. I demonstrate it in the other silk ribbon video. Hope that helps👍❤️

Beautiful name! Lol
What's the name of fabric you use?
In this case it is simply a cream cotton fabric but I also do use dupion silk and linen/cotton blend fabric in my designs as well!🌸
Very neat but it would help the viewer if you can zoom in small detailed work. Thank you. Kikiliz
Will do - am getting better at filming 👍🌸
Camera needs to be closer to your stitches so we can see.
I have just upgraded my phone so the videos will definitely improve 👍♥️
At the beginning of video, it was very light cotton. Zoom in Focus is clearer.
This was filmed too far. Lighting also, poor sorry.. :(
