Your mom is so cool, her apartment....stunning. My mom is 91, still shops for cute clothes, gets her hair styled every two weeks, drives, goes out to dinner every week with family, and still makes her pasta and sauce for the family every Sunday lol, she would love your mom. God bless them both !

When I first saw the picture of you and your mom holding you, I thought I’d was Dominique! It took me a moment to realize you were the beautiful baby. I was amazed at exactly how ,I much you look like her back then. She was truly a awesome lady. Not only beautiful but such an intelligent woman. You can tells how much you two loved each other. I really loved this. My husband was an Air Force physician so we were overseas for years. I had so much when my husband died and have had to downsize considerably. Melding modern and traditional is exactly what I did in my apartment. Thank you for something on UA-cam that is not shown often.

One of my favorite videos so far... Your mom is such a sweet and classy lady, just a treasure! I have a very toxic mother but God was so good to me that gave me a wonderful mother-in-law, unfortunately she passed away last year. She used to say how proud she was of having me as a daughter in law, it will always mean so much for me because my mother has never said that to me, I have never been good enough for her. I just loved watching this! It gave me new inspiration to go see my 87 year young Mom who lives about 90 minutes away. Covid has her shut in but she is doing ok with her coloring books and novels and DVDs. I think I'll plan to do a new mural for her, she already has two that I've done in her home. Aren't we blessed to have healthy vibrant mothers!

I lost mine 2 years, 4 months & 2 days ago; she was only 77, the same age as her father (my PawPaw) when he passed. And although our relationship wasn't always perfect, at times it was great, but neither matters now, but I try to hang on to the wonderful memories & w/ that seems to come harder days, rather than easier, if that makes sense. They say in time the memories will start filling the void but to me, they make me miss her more everyday. What I would do to spend one more day together; to give her one more pedicure (in her last 10 plus years she could no longer do her own or go anywhere to get it done) as I loved spending that quality time together, sharing stories, and just talking. My prayers are with all daughters who've lost their mom way too soon! My heart goes out to you! BUT, I am glad that Dominique still has her mom & that her moms age, she is still so lively and able. Their videos bring to me a "feel good" moment every time! Peace be with you!

My daughter lives 500 miles away and went from sharing an apartment to living on her own. I still look on FB Marketplace although she has most everything she needs. 75% of her belongings were bought used and have been wonderful purchases. I helped her get organized and it was one of my most enjoyable vacations to do so. To have a loving relationship between my daughter and I is one of my greatest joys. I can tell it is for you, too.
Me, too! I so understand. I few months ago I took vacation time to get my daughter set-up in her first place. She's a little less than 500 miles away, too. I enjoyed finding things for her on LetGo and thrift stores! Combined that with things I handed over to her and little things bought, her place is cozy and great!

I am 68 and love helpig my daughter and playing with her two little girls. She is 60 miles away but i go visit for a few days once or twice a month.Being a grandmother is just so much fun. How young is your mother Dominique? she looks young and healthy. The best gift I can give my daughter is to take good care of my health. Love that you care about your mom so much. I wish my mom was still here.

You're so fortunate, Dominique. I lost my mom 4 years ago and we didn't have the best relationship. I hate to say it, but she was a toxic person. To the outside, she was the sweetest but with her own children and family, it was a completely different story. You are blessed. ❤
What you describe sounds much too familiar .. and it’s sad, isn’t it ? My mom is 83 and is such a negative person. She’s had a tough life and currently is challenged with many serious health issues (near blindness included) .. so part of me sort of understands her “negativity” .. but all the bitterness does get old. If anything, it’s made me very aware and makes me vow NOT to behave like this as I age, no matter what I’m faced with. I want to strive to be one of those soft, sweet, kind elderly people .. as opposed to a hardened, cold, harsh, negative one like my mom. I tell (and show) my young adult college son and daughter just how much I love them almost every single day and can’t imagine NOT doing that. My mom hasn’t said those words to me ...... ever ?? I truly don’t ever remember hearing it .. which just boggles my mind. I can barely contain my love for my kids (like Dominique’s mom here who gushes over Dominique😍) .. so it’s hard for me to comprehend someone who can’t even say “I love you” to her own child. She expects it from me (and all others) but rarely if ever reciprocates. Boggles my mind. So I hear you and I can relate to what you’ve said here .. and I’m sorry for your strained relationship:(
Indy 2000 ohhhhh wow ... can you even imagine saying something like that (“I was prettier than you at this age ..”) to your own daughter ???!!! Terribly sad (and unnecessary) that her inconsequential vanity got in the way of being a real mother to her kids. It’s tragic really. Makes you wonder how she got to that point .. the belief that her looks should take precedence over the most important things in her life .. namely, her children. Did HER parents put undue emphasis on HER looks or attractiveness when she was younger ? Or did they praise her excessively bc of her looks ? Not that any of it would be an excuse .. simply interesting though to find out where or why or how that behavior started. And in regards to hurtful words staying with you .. I still so clearly remember, like it was yesterday, when my mom made a biting, unnecessary comment to me about my appearance. I think I had been shyly talking about a boy I thought was cute or something along those lines, and her ultimate comment to me about that was “c’mon, Kimberly, you’re never gonna be Christie Brinckley.” Meaning, lower those expectations and standards, girl .. you’re not as cute as you might think. Wow, I think I was all of maybe 12 yrs old. It’s been almost 50 yrs since then and my memory certainly isn’t what it used to be .. I’ve forgotten so much and many memories are gone or have dimmed .. yet I still remember that comment, and more unfortunately, I vividly remember how it made me feel. And then we wonder why our daughters or why women in general have such a complex about their physical appearance. It’s not just because of magazines or IG or the media in general. It’s also due to the careless, thoughtless, unnecessary comments made by our mothers or by people we love who are supposed to love and care about us and our health and well-being.
So .. just keep smothering your kids with love and I’ll do the same with mine;). And in the meantime, I pray that our wounded hearts will one day be healed .. and I also pray for our mothers ..💔

I am not a decorator, I just believe putting together what you love always works, and it is definitely a transition of styles from different eras and maybe travels. Keeping it simple makes it flow. I relate to her so much with her love of color take a chance Don’t follow the Grey trend it’s boring , Brighton up your life I sure did and I love cruisein now in my new car with my sunroof and my bright bright red interior .

Oh how much I loved this! My Mom passed 5 years ago - way to early as she was only 68 - but watching the two of you makes my heart leap - those special Mother/Daughter bonds transcend. And now I am inspired to go clear some clutter...thank you for sharing! P.S. I have special things from my Mom, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother sprinkled throughout my home as art. Everytime I touch these pieces I feel them standing next to me.

You can see how much fun you both had doing it. I lost my Mom 7 years ago and there is not a day that goes by that I don’t think of her!! She was the BEST Mom that I could have ever asked for. We use to do so many things together and I miss her sense of humor so much! May God Bless your Mom with many more years so that you can continue to build wonderful memories together!
