You know, I've been recording my favorite tv programmes for years, using my Blu-Ray/HDD recorder with a double DVB-S2 tuner built-in. And as my current pay-tv subscription will expire in about two months, I'm currently planning to switch to some VoD service. But I don't want to pay for watching something without being able to capture and store it on my PC or external HDD. So I'm probably going to purchase one of those HDCP bypassing devices. And no, I won't do that to spread copyrighted materials on the Internet. I just want my VoD service to have the same functionality as my old satellite recorder had. I believe that everyone should be allowed to legally store and archive any Vod content for personal use, without being forced to buy any special equipment.

Hi. I tried OREI UHDS-102 with a Cam Link 4K, but it did not work. Got a few frames in the capture, then black screen, a few frames again then black screen, after a few blinks like this, nothing. No matter if the input has HDCP enabled or not. After contacting their support they told me because HDCP is enabled on the outputs. So I eventually had to return it. Maybe they updated their firmware, so it seems this method is not working anymore with this splitter in 2023. I did not try with the Vertex as I would have hoped to be able to capture 4K.

Hammad Hey again Hammand! I believe the reason customer support cannot say it can bypass hdcp 2.2 could be that they’re either not allowed to say it, or they don’t actually know the product. The Vertex2 doesn’t come with the firmware pre-installed because it isn’t legal to have HDCP 2.2 bypass installed. (I believe so you can’t copy videos that are copyright protected) That’s why I had to go to support to get the file. This is why I believe OREI would try and be ignorant of the fact they’re product bypasses it. Not only does my video show it bypassing the lock, there are multiple other videos on UA-cam showing the same OREI model bypassing the lock. Hopefully this gives you the confidence to make the purchase! If you do so, report back here and tell me how you go!
