I can even use the tablet I bought for watching videos to.... actually watch videos on it (as, for some reason, some of the streaming services make their apps not work with tablets).
This video is 3 years old but I can confirm for anyone that is still looking this worked for me. I tried splitters and they did not work. Thanks so much for this video...
Just a small detail request: did you happen to get the 4k model or the 1080p model? Both seem to be HDCP 2.2 certified but I'm not sure if both actually pass on the unencrypted HDMI output. It's probably fine but just wanted to check!
Didn't work for me. I have my Roku Ultimate plugged into my home Theater that connects to my TV. Bought and installed the recommended HDMI splitter, , between the Roku and my AV/Home theater. I don't think iPhone iPad use HDCP. But it seam thoses device are not allowing to output some application. I believe that what you are about to do will not work or that there is no simple solution rather than use someting else than a mobile device.
So in theory this would work to bypass the HDCP protection of a Playstation 3 right? The device I’ve been using is dying and all I want to do is stream some old games. Unfortunately all of the HDMI splitters that used to work have been updated and no longer strip the HDCP.
Hi - Thanks for this helpful video. At 2:47, you mention that the HDMI output of the extractor does include both video and audio - but is the passed audio actually faithful multi-channel (DTS or ATMOS)? Which audio formats does this work (or not work) with... 5.1, 6.1, 7.2, 9.2...??
ah - I just followed the product link and the product appears to claim to pass up to 5.1audio. Any further info/tips/cautions from your experiences would be appreciated. Thank you again.
I think it is compatible with most technoligy. Maybe not ATMOS. Sorry I don't know, I'm a stereo guy. I never really cared about surround and all those things.

Hi Mitchell. The audio extractor resend the very same signal with audio on the HDMI and give the option to take the audio on a optical and analog output.

Sorry I wrote in French without thinking... Just wondering if this issue is specific to ipad. I saw video of people streaming game from their ipad using Elgato products so it should work...

I have a Nintendo switch and I use a DVI to HDMI cable to my monitor. I can’t watch UA-cam on it so do you know how to bypass HDCP on the Nintendo Switch
Wow... Sorry I'm not familiar with the switch but I'm pretty sure they have no DVI port but I don't see why a switch would put HDCP protection on UA-cam.
I have a 10 year old LG PK950 plasma TV. It used to work fine with Google TV and Chromecast up until about 4-5 mos ago. Now I get a "no signal" message on all my HDMI ports that I try to connect my devices to. I suspect the real issue is the HDCP compliance thing. I don't want to throw away a perfectly good TV. Will this HDMI audio extractor work for me? I just need to run a browser on this TV.
Hi Stephan. If it would be HDCP, you would not have the ''No Signal'' You would have a black screen, or a color screen, or a HDCP message. You would have something. Now that all your HDMI input is not working, I unfortunately presume that your HDMI board is broken. Test some other devices, but if they all do the same, that's probably is a broken HDMI board. A 10 years old TV might still be reparable.
i bought a blu-ray device to play movies i buy, turns out it doesn't like movies with hdcp unless i plug in both it's plugs, really disappointing this extra headache i'll have to deal with with some movies now
So my Samsung TV is 14 years old (still going strong). We had our HDMI connected to our sky digital for years, but today I connected my sons Nintendo switch using a new HDMI cable. It worked beautifully, when I switched the HDMI back to the sky box, it came with the HDCP error message. So, does that mean I will need to have this port device which you have advised?
Hum. That is a weird one. I would first try without the Nintendo to see what it done. Then I would try with that device. It may solve your problem. But probably that just restarting everything would fix it.

@@HowToPM I was thinking more streaming stuff that’s HDCP protected with friends through discord, whenever I record on it, it basically shows up as a black screen However you did just give me an idea lmao, maybe I can run my Amazon fire through a capture card and then do it that way
The Amazon fire is more likely to have HDCP protection. My capture card won't even start to record when there is a HDCP protection. The audio extractor however bypass it.
Hi I just suscribed thanks. I purchased a new projector and all video shows well but the audio only works with youtube if i try to watch an itunes movie and or netflix movie it will play the video but not the sound.. in doing some reading it seems this hdcp might be the problem.. thoughts
Hello.. I recently bought a Blu-Ray player and connected it to the monitor on which I have a computer via HDMI and when I run the player, only the Blu-ray logo is shown and then it disappears and is only black. The screen does not pop up any message and the monitor has HDCP protection, so Could this be caused by this protection? PS I will add that this monitor has HDCP protection, so will such a device help me? Because from what I understand, this device extracts the signal from the HDCP transmitting device to the TV or Monitor, and not the other way around.
I have an iphone 11 that i am trying to stream hockey on TSN from. I have a lightning to HDMI adaptor, and then HDMI to my Wimius S4 projector. all i get is the HDCP error message on my projector. this splitter should fix that problem for me?
I wonder if it is just the phone that block the signal to external devices or someting on the way. Since you got the HDCP on the screen I would guess my solution would work for your but I'm not 100% sure.
I purchased using your link and it doesn't work. Is there anything I need to do prior to connecting? If not, it's going back today. I'm using Avermedia 130 and get HDCP! error across my screen. Help?
Hum that's weird. You must start from the sourche, then to the audio extractor, then to the avermedia, and finally to the tv. Try to move the dipswitch to stereo 2.0.
Thank you for responding. Unfortunately it didn't work despite what I tried to do. I will return this and try with HDMI splitter. Thanks again for trying.

I want to make sure something before I'll order any device... I use Xiaomi mitv device, when I connect it to my computer it works fine. but at the second I try to use Anydesk it turn to black screen and won't return until I'll shutdown my computer and start it again (simple restart doesn't works) The use of the tv is for showing sides and videos from the computer. Anydesk use to transfer objects and remote control from remote computer. I believe it happens because Anydesk have recording option, the question is if this device will bypass DHCP even in this case? or might be a better solution?
Hi Ryan. Your trouble may be cause by HDCP, but maybe by something else. It's hard to say especially that I don't know any of the device and software you use, not even by name. So I can't garentee it will solve your trouble. You will have to try. 😉 Wrost case you can return it.
So I just want an off grid solution for camping using a projector (Dice/Wemax) and connecting to iPad with downloaded movies from Netflix/Prime/Movies Anywhere., etc. I am assuming I am running into this HDCP protocol. When I do have internet I can sometimes get some of the programs to work, but off grid no luck at all. Is this the solution (device recommended) I need to try with apple lightening digital av connector and two HDMI cables?
There are some HDMI cables out there which say 'HDCP 2.2 Support' ... that means if I buy only that cable but ont this splutter thing and connect two devices.. will it help?
I just bought a sling box 500 because I bought a new tv that only has HDMI not Component inputs. My old sling box worked fine with my old cable box and tv because all parties involved had component ins and outs. Anyways, I believe the reason why my setup of the sling box 500 is failing is due to the HDCP of the xfinity cable box. Will the product you are recommending allow me to bypass the HDCP from the cable box to make this work. Im thinking the HDMI out of the cable box will go to the input of the extractor and then the output of the extractor goes into the input of the sling box and then the output of the sling box to the tv input HDMI? Does that sound like the correct order of operations?
Hi Jim! Yes you well understand everything! 🙂 And yes Slingbox is the type of device that may create HDCP error. So the audio extractor right after the cable box will approve the HDCP certification and you will be good to go for the rest. Thank you for your comment! 🙂
i have an marantz avr and it does not do hdcp 2.2. when I play 4k movies they playback in 1080p not 4k, it down converts to 1080p because the reciever is not 2.2 compliant
HDMI is a very complicated technology. Sometime things work with some device and not with other. Have you get the same audio exctractor that I suggest?
My Sharp hd tv has a message on it saying “thjs screen does not support HDCP”.I got Sky Q a couple of days ago and had no issue until this morning. Will this device solve this issue please????
Can this bypass the HDCP so HDR can pass through an AVR? I have an Onkyo AVR that has 4K but can’t send through HDR. I have to choose 4k and Lossless audio, but no HDR, by connecting my PS5 to my AVR or 4k HDR but Dolby Digital by connecting directly to my TV via ARC.
I can play my blue-ray hooked up to the receiver and the receiver hooked up to the 4K roku TV. But my computer, it won't work, I have to hook the computer directly to the 4K TV. The sound of the blueray goes through the HDMI output connected to the TV and not through the optical. The streaming channels from the TV goes through optical cord and it is inomparibly awesome compare to the blueray. Watching UA-cam throuigh the computer connected to the TV, neither the display nor the audio comes even close to the streaming youtube through the TV directly. I assume computers don't care about any hdcp stuff, I guess. I wonder if I upgrade my receiver HDCP compliant one if that would change everything? Would I be able to hook up the computer to the that receiver and get the audio through hdmi? I hear that HDMI audio is even more superior than optical.

I'm already using a VPN and have tried using Safari versus Chrome but I keep receiving "Sorry, this video cannot be played while your device is connected to this external monitor". Thought your video helped on this problem (mad thanks!) but still don't know what to do. Any info is appreciated! X
Hi Amber Poole! Well that is an interesting one. Is the problem from your monitor, or is it just from the fact that the web site don't want to send any image if your are connected to a external monitor. You could give a try to my little audio extractor, this will work if it's a HDCP problem. But since it dont speak about HDCP, I'm not 100% sure it will solve the problem.
I have Netflix and Amazon Prime. When I open these apps, I'm getting 3-4 black screens and waiting for 1+ minutes to able to watch something. It is so bad.
Hi bud, I've turned off my hdcp On my ps5 as I get black screen when I use a edid emulator so that I can get 120hz when using my monitor. But twitch and UA-cam both need the hdcp to be turned on in order to use them. Is there anything I can do for a work around? And will the device you showed work? Thanks in advance
Hum. That is kind of logic but I did'nt know they where looking at that. You would need to pass into a software before sending the image to UA-cam or Twitch. The image would come from that software instead of the machine.
I'm assuming that HDCP was implemented in order to combat piracy but nope.. people will always find a way to bypass. In short HDCP made things complicate for the end users and will motivate even more end users to pirate contents that are DRM and HDCP free; or these end users will simply give up and not watch the movie/video at all because of the ridiculous content protection. Using the Playstation Remote Play app, I had an issue streaming the video to my smartphone from the Bluray disc in my PS5 console. I was able to view the video playing on my PS5 but not on my smartphone. On my smartphone, I was able to view the PS5 interface but when I tried to watch the video on my smartphone, it doesn't work.
From what I yet see with my audio extractor, it recreate the image without HDCP. So if it been accepted up to it, you should be fine up to the end. But like I said I did'nt try with every possible setup.
I don't think a website can be HDCP or anything going out of a PC. HDCP is standard applied to a device you usualy put around your TV like Apple TV, playstation, dvd player.
@@HowToPM So basically when I connect my laptop to my home theatre, I get an error saying "This content can not be displayed because your TV does not support HDCP 2.2." I only get this error when I stream on certain websites. I'm wondering if the HDMI converter will fix this issue.
@@HowToPM Yes it can! Playing Netflix for instance, which need hdcp extensions in the browser, disables hdmi out on my laptop. There are fortunately worksaround by the use of browser extensions to takle this issue.
Will this help me bypass HDCP to stream Netflix and Disney+ to a Home Theater Epson Projector? Currently, I am unable to stream to my home projector. Thank you in advance.
Lot of people ask me this and I finally find out they do it from a iPhone or iPad. If that is the case no. If you output from a DVD player or media box and you do see a HDCP error, yes that should help.
hi will this work for the switch, my sons elgato hd60s reads everything you can see the switch on his tv but it wont capture because of copyright issue, his setup is laptop windows 10 to capture card to swtich to tv.
Tried it. No luck getting around HDCP message. Hooked iPad to converter box to projector cuz I want to stream and project movies outside. New cables, projector, and converter box. Two year old iPad. I can screen mirror You Tube, Facebook, and my own stuff, but when I go to Netflix or Disney Plus I get sound but no pictures and an HDCP message. Very frustrating. Ready to send it all back. Any suggestions?
Hi Jan! I believe that in your case the problem is most-likely that Disney and Netflix block the screen mirror feature from their App. That would not go very well anyway. What you cloud do is to cast the Netflix movie on a compatible device like a chromecast. Cast wont be block because it's a total different technology.
How To After more hassle than you can imagine, all we had to do was connect our Apple TV to the projector via the HDMI and it worked perfectly. It was exasperating that the manufacturer couldn’t have supplied clearer directions. Thanks for your suggestions, even though I returned both devices.
Hi I just wanted to say thank you. I was about to return a projector I really liked and by ordering a item similar to your recommendation I was able to resolve my issue and my projector plays everything now. Huge score and now Im a fan. Cheers
My projector is connected to my surround sound system, and to my Xbox, PS4, and chrome cast. It gives no sound and I think it’s because of the hdcp. If I get this it should work right
@@HowToPM what would the issue be? It was working perfectly fine on another projector before, but the new projector I got is more expensive and much better quality, and for some reason the video is really blurry and I get no audio
Sky is like cable tv in the uk they allow you to have so many devices to watch sky go this is meant to be on tablets ,mobiles ect i was hoping to use it on my Android stick but the app blocks output to hdmi i was wondering if this would be a bypass to stop that happening.Thanks.
Hi Ryan, thank you for the additional. infos. Well I think it's weird that they offer an application on android stick but block the image on it. Most of the time when you have a HDCP trouble, you will have a message on the screen to tell you the image is block because of HDCP. So if you have a black screen, it might be something else. So unless you have a HDCP trouble displayed, I'm not sure it will solve your trouble.

I'm not sure to understand. What is exactly your issue actually?
What set-up do you recommend for someone who wants a mini projector in their room?
I did not shop any projector for a while, I'm not the best one to answer that question.
Other than... Don't get a projector unless you really have a very dark room.
The 4k version does not strip hdcp.
They dont want us to use the hardware we've paid for
It's a hard line to trace. They also try to avoid poeple copying stuff they don't own.
So you need 2 HDMI cables to use this converter/splitter?
Well, one that goes in, and the other that goes out.
So in theory this would work to bypass the HDCP protection of a Playstation 3 right? The device I’ve been using is dying and all I want to do is stream some old games. Unfortunately all of the HDMI splitters that used to work have been updated and no longer strip the HDCP.
Hi! Well I can tell you it work to bypass HDCP on PS3 because that is exactly what I do with it. 😉
i use to watch streaming contents through fire tv using kodi. can i do that on a smart monitor samsung m70d? (it has HDCP Support)
I don't know that product but if it got a HDMI input that should be fine.

If you are only connecting a computer I think you don't have to care about it. For some other devices it might create you some trouble.

En fait ce n'est pas le iPad lui même qui est le problème mais la protection HDCP qui leur est exigé.

Literally going though that now myself.

Hello..
You will have to give it a try. I may help, it may not.
HDMI can be very complicated because of HDCP.

Hum. That is kind of logic but I did'nt know they where looking at that. You would need to pass into a software before sending the image to UA-cam or Twitch. The image would come from that software instead of the machine.
Did you figure out anything yet! I think we are using the same Edie emulator. I want to be able to watch UA-cam and listen to music while I play.

Let's say I want to output my computer screen onto a larger TV, but the website I want to stream is HDCP protected, would this converter still work?

Sky is like cable tv in the uk they allow you to have so many devices to watch sky go this is meant to be on tablets ,mobiles ect i was hoping to use it on my Android stick but the app blocks output to hdmi i was wondering if this would be a bypass to stop that happening.Thanks.
Hi Ryan, thank you for the additional. infos. Well I think it's weird that they offer an application on android stick but block the image on it. Most of the time when you have a HDCP trouble, you will have a message on the screen to tell you the image is block because of HDCP. So if you have a black screen, it might be something else.

I was watching YT videos on my PSVR, all of the sudden I was getting no video on my TV but the headset worked.
I thought that the processor unit took a shit, started doing some research and I ended up here.
I bet so many people think it's the processor unit or the HDMI cables, and end up spending money.
Fucking crazy.
I'm trying to find a way to go from a hdmi Roku to a hdmi hauppauge pvr but unable to due to hdcp. Anyone able to get this to work in a similar setup?
That is for sure. The Hauppauge is a recording device. The audio extractor I suggest will do the job.
I give up. Where is it where he says what the product is?
Your link does not go to the same audio extractor that you show in the video. They are different brands and models. Are you sure that the linked audio extractor will work to remove HDCP?
Hi Justin! I did realize that the model I have is only sold in Canada. That's why my link take you to a different one. But I did check in every country, with the product comment you can find on Amazon and for all of theme there was someone saying that it work to bypass HDCP. And after all, they still look all the same. I believe they are all made in the same factory in China, with a different cover for the company that purchase them. So yes I am pretty sure it will work as well as mine.
@@HowToPM Thank you for your reply. I will be receiving mine soon and will provide feedback. I appreciate your video and the link to the product.
Ahah!! You are very welcome! I hope it will solve your problem. Your feedback are welcome! Thank you and have a great day! 🙂
@@jfaust just curious if yours worked....
Justin Faust Did it worked?
How do i know if my TV supports HDCP?
I don't think there is any TV that does not support HDCP. However HDCP evolve. But most of the time, it's a problem between the device source and the TV. It could even be a HDMI cable.
Anyone trying to connect the ATEM MINI swittcher to the input of an Avermedia to record ?
I don't think the Atem itself will add any HDCP stuff into the stream. But if one of the input got HDCP, it may output to.
So in this case my solution may work for you to record on the Avermedia.
@@HowToPM thank you for your answer. The input on the ATEM are one pc and two Sony a7iii so I don't think they have HDCP right...?
The cameras are of course not the problem. But I've head sometime PC may send it in some cases. Maybe just try the PC directly in the avermedia to see if you have the same problem.
Oh. Et je viens de voir ton nom. Je parle aussi français. 😉
I have a Samsung SmartTV 50 in for three years I was able to connect with another TV with a HDMI splitter and an HDMI Switcher that's a 32in not a smart TV so now I bought a insignia firetv would like to take the signal from the Fire TV to send to the Samsung Smart TV port2 / DVI on the Samsung on the Fire TV I have HDMI port 1 Arc trying to send the signal from the Fire TV 2 the Samsung Smart TV hopefully maybe I can still use the switch I've been trying different ways with what I have and no results
Wow. Dave, I don't understand exactly what your are trying to do. Why still using DVI? And from my personal experiance, ARC is a terrible technology. If you want to brodcast on multiple TV, simply use a splitter or a matrix.
I have it now, but lets see if it works for xbox 360 and my game cap cards, honestly don't think it will, so we will see. before i return it
the new ones do not work.
Thank YOU!🖥️🔌📲
i have a couple questions. i wanna connect this to my pc (i just wanna watch john wick ffs), and i also play a lot of video games. would this introduce any kind of noticeable input lag to my system, and would a hdcp compliant splitter accomplish the same goal? thanks for the video explaining the hdcp nightmare
I did'nt ever see any lag with that device.
@@HowToPM thank you
I'm using a firesrick
So. I've been getting a error on hulu saying that my device has failed to connect to hdcp. I tried going into netflix and everything works fine. This has been happening on a phone .
A phone? You mean you are probably casting on a TV from a phone? Because there is no HDCP outside of HDMI world.
Don't think your question was answered.
The problem turned out to be myself trying to screenshot too many times while in the app. Fast foward 1 or 2 days and it was back to normal

I never tried it.
