Hi Rich, I'm still using the X2 and I'm quite happy with this model. Yes, the X3 is a bit better but I'm not going to buy it, because I shoot more with a traditional 4k camera. The result is much better than with 360 reframing. I watch my 360 videos in 360 in the VR headset, it's better and more immersive than reframing. Anyway, thank you for this comparison 👍👍👍
I have the OneX 1 and OneX 2. I wouldn't be able to use the X3 to record my bicycle rides or anything more than 30 minutes long due to the gaps in footage that are apparently universal for all the Insta360 cameras. It took me a while to figure out why my bicycle rides all had gaps of several hundred meters every 30 minutes. This problem is easy to Google, but I found out the hard way.
Yes it’s annoying - I think they do it to reduce risk in losing large files if something went wrong but this should be something you can choose to turn off in the menu.
@@EatSleep360 GoPro MAX also splits the footage into 8min files BUT does not loose any footage! It is a shame they don't solve this issue. I would really love if respected tech youtubers such as yourself, who help Insta360 get so much attention, would pressure them on this matter. Up until now only ONE youtuber talked about this issue in a review of the X3. In my opinion it is NOT ACCEPTABLE that a gadget that is sold as a camera in 2023 looses footage. Even my poor old Samsung Gear 360 from 2017 was able to record continuously without gaps!! Please make Insta360 aware that this is a problem and make your audience aware that this problem exists.

Insta even exceeded that by a second and reduced the recording time to 29 minutes with the firmware update. Insta saves the higher tax and lets the customer bleed even though they don't have to.
We've used the 360onex2 loads on our channel. Don't see a good enough reason to upgrade to the X3. Audio using the Rode wireless Go2 is excellent. What's often forgotten is the X2 also takes great stabilised single lens video Does anyone actually like the tiny planet effect?? Think not. 🤔
Me Mode question: can the camera be stationary and you walk around the whole camera and follow you (track), now what if you wanted to do say an Rc car only no way to track, only detects a human, what about if another person is in the shot and both go the opposite way who will it track? maybe II should find a tutorial the good and bad of Me mode. X4 I should hold out for 2024 is around hte corner buy still 9 months away
Nice vid Rich! Thanks. I just love the desktop software so any of the cameras would do for me! I had hoped that insta360 would sort out the GPS blocking aerial addon so my drone vids could include drone free footage...
I have owned the 1 inch version for about 3 years now. It’s awesome except for the overheating if you want to record a video longer than 20 minutes or so. But I mainly use it for my virtual tours of homes I list as a Realtor. You mentioned something about boost lens, etc., where do I find that as I dont see it on their website.
Hi. Thx much for sharing your experience about 360 cam's. Your remarks are very true and match to what I did remark. I am a Gopro owner and purchase a Insta360 X3, both cam's do cover my needs...😉
X3 is NOT lightweight - it`s the same weight as One R/ One R 360 - I testeds them before buying hoping X2 (old model) will be more suitable to put on top of my helmet, but no. So I choose One R (because I already have another One R 360) , so I can mix & mach battereis and cages, witch aren`t compatible with any of X2 or X3 parts
I tend to prefer the X3 for most of my shots. Prep time on the modular takes too long on the go and makes me less likely to take it along. I can get the X3 going in a couple of minutes and stay more in the moment.

I haven’t used it but it looks like a great design, super compact and 50fps at 6k - I wish insta had these higher frame rates. Looks like it’s sold out at the moment - not sure if it will come to the wider market.

I don’t use lens protectors but yes the camera lenses are very delicate - you can buy protection insurance with the camera through Insta360 at the time of purchase. I don’t like the sticky lens guards as you have to keep them on or keep replacing the sticky pads if you remove them. They do affect image quality in bright sunlight in particular. If you are at all worried then get them - it’s best to do it that way around rather than regret it later I suppose. Thanks for supporting my channel 👍

If you’re playing back on the camera and have shot in 360 you should be able to press and hold the screen to then swipe and view the other side. If this is what you mean.

Philip Bloom uses Topaz video AI + Film Convert Nitro to improve the reframed footage. 360 is not FX3 quality, but it's for a different purpose, different audience. I own an a7R V and an X2. Can't decide if the One RS 1inch or the X3 is more useful. I wish the 1inch had all those features of the X3.

x3 user here. I will buy the next 1 inch version because what x3 lacks is quality.
1) no gyro data on dng 2) no gps data on dng 3) pure shot (exposure bracketing) only auto iso

Insta do have their own mounts but you’re better off just getting generic mounts as there are more options and they are cheaper

X3 out of the three for waterproof but if still be careful with the door seal - some people use the dive case to be safe

360 camera resolution still isn’t that great. Looks pixelated. They should use at least 10K sensors.
That would be great but I think the biggest problem with higher resolutions is the editing capability on mobiles - thanks for the comment
