As a farming nerd, I always love watching farm tutorials regardless but I especially liked this format because it isn't just about the farm but making them aesthetic and detailed for use in non-industrial builds. Thanks for the extra work!
I was so damn sure that hoppers couldn't suck entities up through farmland, that I didn't even think of trying it. Silly me. And that bud switch design is simply brilliant. Thanks for sharing useful infos, Nerd.
This design is really similar to the one everyone used before observers where added to the game, but i really like that he shared it
@@LeWi100 Oh I agree. It's basically an observer emulator, right? And the observer was a great addition to this game, it's powerful, versatile, and a no-brainer for any respectable redstone toolbox. But I love the "make the simpliest thing that could possibly work" principle. And in this instance, Nerd nailed it perfecly in the "occam's razor" sense of the word. That's why I like it.
NEAT! Using the diagonal piston powering, when a pumpkin/melon grows it "reminds the piston" (block update) that "Hey! You're supposed to be powered!". ALL pistons fire including the sand piston. The sand causes a delay causing the pistons not to trigger, waiting for the next reminder. I'll keep that one in my back pocket for other uses.

You know I didn't know that about hoppers pulling stuff through tiled blocks. That's gonna be my job tomorrow, go and modify my farms. Especially that villager one. Usually needs 2 villagers to get that working. So knowing this about the tiled dirt is great. Thanks Blue, you never fail to impress.

Although it is more expensive with the hoppers, it's 10x better than trying to work with 2 villagers

Just accidently clicked your channel and noticed you are making tutorials of other people tutorials, including some of mine. I suggest you add credit to MY builds that you are using in your videos. That's considered copyright especially when you copy someone else's work as if its yours. If you want to make videos then make your own builds or risk getting copyright strikes and banned.

You only need those ones the end buddy, so 1 barrel for the melon/pumpkin farm and 2 for the sugar cane farm, the rest can be any blocks of your choice. =)

Nice TY! Does the WHEAT farm also work with others like CARROTS, POTATOES, and BEATS?
No unfortunately not villagers only seem to farm them when carrots, potatoes and beets when other villagers are close by to feed them to but wheat they will continue harvest even without any other villagers =)
With a carrot or potato farm, you can build it like this but put a second villager in a cage in one wall. Place hopper minecart in front of caged villager. When farmer tries to throw them food, hopper minecart picks up the food.

I'm watching this and going darn I need more iron. Just one question, can I use this bud switch design for a kelp and bamboo farm?
It will work for bamboo, kelp should work too but i would check first because of the water it might not pass the update through the system.
You forgot to mention the iron farm that you need to get all those hoppers :-P
You can easily get iron from caves now so it shouldn't take long to get enough for all these hoppers, you don't need an iron farm for the small amount i use.
on bedrock my pistons are not working for the melon farm, redstone lights are all shining.
I still sruggle with a good trading hall design.
For some reason my pistons aren’t working does this still work? I built it exactly the same so I’m not sure why it won’t work

Yes the sugar farm will work fine with bamboo too buddy =)
Do you have a building that you put the farms in or do you just leave them out in your world?
In my survival world I have a build that has an area underground where I build all my farms, you can see me build some in my next survival video =)
If you give the villager 8 stacks of seeds at the beginning, you won't be loosing any wheat.
He has 8 inventory slots which he first will fill up with seeds and wheat - so less wheat for you. And it takes a long time because the wheat has 8 growth stages. The most of every crop.
If you fill his inventory with seeds first, he will only harvest the wheat and leave it be on the ground.
Also I am not sure what is faster - the hopper or the villager. That's why I personally rather use hopper minecart. The thing is, if the hopper is faster - it will suck the wheat and the seeds. And if villager doesn't get seeds he can't replant it and the farm will eventually die. If the villager is faster, then there should not be any issue :-)
I had this running in my last survival world for many months and it constantly produced a ton of wheat and seeds, so the farm will run fine and won't just stop as the the villager always manages to keep his seed inventory full. Hopper minecarts collect faster but 1 hopper minecart causes more lag then 60-70 hoppers so performance wise it's best to avoid hopper minecarts when you can.
@@BlueNerdMC Really? Hopper minecart is that laggy? Damn. I have three beetroot farms and four wheat farms that run them constantly. I need to research this more because I thought how well I did it!
@@samuelcelovsky6013 Yeah a lot of people don't realise it but that just for a single hopper minecart so if you are using several of them then it's definitely impacting the lag in game. I found out a while back because I had a huge automatic storage system which wasn't causing me any noticeable lag but then I made a huge farm that used 8 hopper minecarts and it caused a fair bit of lag (even on my high powered PC). My fully automatic storage system had 4 double chest per item and could sort around 300 items, lol. No idea why they cause so much lag though, but you'll find loads about it online and If i'm right was confirmed by Mojang.
This melon farm did not work for me:( Idk if it’s bc I’m playing on the latest version but I followed this step by step and it was working at the end :(
Just built it and looks like these farms don’t work on bedrock... is there something I can do to make it work? 🥺
Will last farm work since Fletcher is not there to collect the wheat and there is no bed for farmer?
The hoppers collect the wheat and the farmer does not need a bed as he will continue to work. As he works he drops wheat which gets collected by the hoppers =)

Could you jumpstart the wheat farm by giving the villager several stacks of seeds?
You can try but most will probably get sucked into the hoppers before he picks the up so if you add an extra block without a hopper under it, that will avoid them ending up in the chest. But it doesn't take long for the farm to start working =)
Tried this on my bedrock realm and it isnt working. Made the sugar cane one. Theyre growing infront of the pistons but they arent setting off the redstone to break them
same issue on my bedrock

Ive did exactly what you made, mine wasn’t working. The melon stayed in de hoppers. So I put the chest under the hopper and now it works… so any suggestions why this doesn’t work?

The ones on the ends, next to the pistons? That barrel holds an item. That gives the comparator a signal to send to the torch tower powering the piston redstone circuit.
Does the Bud Switch Design work for Bedrock edition? I tested and it doesn't seem to worj
Same here. Everything is identical to the video and my pistons aren’t firing when the sugarcane grows

im still not understanding how the redstone is working? there's no observer and I'm not able to understand the use of the barrel in all this. is it some glitch?
Hey Michael, the redstone is know as bud powering which is a mechanic on java edition only. Basically the crop grows in front of the piston and sends a signal to the barrel, because it has 1 item in it it out puts a signal that triggers the redstone.

You only need a small amount of iron so it's easy to gather. Any auto farm is going to need iron so it's still a starter farm
