The great thing about finding you Dr. Becky is whether you have small children, adult children or no children, everything you have said is applicable to becoming healthier with others and healthier with ourselves. I will forever be working to deepen the trust, respect, communication and unconditional positive regard with my husband and children. All i have wanted in this life is to be less controlled by fear and to create more love. Breathe with me, we are safe, we can handle this. #pureGold 👣🌈🦋
I have had such great success with this but the problem I have is remembering all the steps and continuously using it. It is so easy to slip back into old bad habits. I must always remember to s.t.a.r. I love Dr. Becky Bailey!
She would be an amazing actor, the interviewer as well. But Dr. B shes such a gifted teacher. I'm learning so much and I'm just in love with her humor. She really cracks me up. Learning is fun with Dr. Bailey. Ps. Best interview I've seen in my 25 years of being here. Your ability to be attentive and receptive with one another was a whole nother energy I can't explain. But this was good and I look forward to more content from Conscious Discipline.
I have an eight year old that recently started bullying her good friend because her good friend started playing with other kids instead of her. In an effort to figure out what to do I've watched several of your videos, including the Bullying Road Sign series. I feel I need to shift my parenting methods using fear and discipline to one more of attention and love. I, along with my child, need to practice breathing in stressful moments and the "I can handle this" mantra. Thank you for these video's. I look forward to incorporating more of the relationship tools you have provided into our family life.
I am Autistic so for me it is all visual, so I use a lot of visual cues, language and objective observations. Kids think visually. At least those who can see think that way. When a kid does something inappropriately or unacceptable, I stop what I am doing and just stare at the kid and then point at the expectations and remind the child if you behavior like this you will get to learn what I am teaching you. I avoid negative speech as much as possible, because children only react and do what you said. If you say no or don't they will only do that because that is all that was taught. You need to demonstrate what they can do and use. Give them a replacement that is positive. It was hard at first, because I was taught differently and it worked for me. It depends on your students and how they were raised. That is why parent-teacher relationships are just as important as student-teacher relationships.
I've been seeing the effects of using don't with my 9month old girl. When I say Don't do something she would do it over and over and over again and we weren't getting anywhere with spanking or shouting so I resorted to using other words instead of don't. I will definitely be using these techniques and suggestions. They are brilliant!
I usually give options to children. "How about we do this? Wouldn't this be better?" I now reserve the yelling to adults who should and ought to know better. Like my brother and his gf who should know that letting kids do whatever without setting up expectations isn't the way to go.
Learn self control: smile-take deep breath-say you are safe-I or you can handle this.Be more visual and avoid conflicts. Say what you want like I did not like that when you did that. Avoid the word no.
Good work, Doctor Becky Baily. Any ideas on how to bring the plethora of children raised in fear due to a complete lack of parenting back to love? Me neither.
hello, such advanced higher consciousness stuff, thank you, fabulous, so clear, so easy to understand, MY QUESTION, HOW DO WE BRIDGE THE GAP FROM THE OLD FEAR BASED PARENTING TO CONSCIOUS DISCIPLINE....please make a video on this, how to get started and bridge the gap, when kids are used to rewards/punishment/angry faces to help out around the house etc....
What's wrong with just allowing the emotion. Why must we take the children away from them? It triggers the unfinished emotional business in the parent and instead of them dealing with that, they put a cap on their kids emotion teaching them to stuff them down with a more socially acceptable way...Smile, etc.
How do parents teach children to stop cussing/swearing without the smile back and blushing child cuz he just listens but still swears under his breath.

Excellent instruction, dr. Becky Bailey . It is accordance with Buddhist practice of mindfulness .
Real advice that works
The story telling ritual is very similar to the hand model to explain executive functioning/ flipping your lid. I love it!!
glad to hear it!

Smile. Take a breath. And hold it. Relax.

Spanking? A baby?

Yes tell her what she can do. It makes for a better day! Enough things will happen and the opportunities to teach will always come up.
This was amazing!!!

Me neither.
My brother never blank his kids and that is why they are more out of control than we were kids when our mother blanked us. ^_^~
She’s amazing. It’s a dream of mine to fully implement the principles of CD
