12:23 "And then raised the ramp to an appropriate height." Izzy standing fully up and Maxwell folded in half lol! What a fun idea though, I like this as a video (series?).
Hey NAPA, as a woman that loves cars, maybe send Izzy some smaller gloves to try. It doesn't appear the style she's wearing are available in small, and they are quite big on her. It's hard to work on cars, on the fiddly bits especially, when your gloves are too big. Cheers!
I think what we are seeing (yet again) is Izzy truly falling in love with cars. She's definitely got such a fantastic presence on camera, and the balance between her, Mike, and Maxwell is wonderful. More of this please!
Don't wanna sound gushy but loving the content ATM between Richard and Izzy, and all the crossovers such as this. Anyone who hasn't checked it out, Who We Are Now!
The dash problem is normally a broken set of CAN bus wires near the bulkhead (abs side), sometimes it is the cluster but nearly all the time its the twisted pair - fixed quite a lot of these over the years and certainly done a lot to my mini over the years to know them inside out especially electrically
On my previous one (2005 S, slightly modified to ~250hp at the wheels) it was either a grounding block or a common signal block burried in the door sill on the right side (passenger side in the US) that was the problem. Once that was taken care of the dash gauges started working as normal again. I think it was due to a clogged sunroof drain that caused water the seep into that area.
I'm getting proper Fifth Gear vibes with Izzie! Such a natural presenter and great to see her involved on the tools - looking forward to the rest of this series 👌
Bit of a tip when doing spark plugs, if you don't have a spark plug socket with the rubber boot inside it that grips the plug when removing, you can use a length of rubber fuel hose, it's especially handy when reinstalling, so you're not dropping the spark plug in and risking changing the gap.
Given the state of the electronics at the start and that these were chosen to be the cars representing Pac-Man ghosts in the mediocre Pixels movie, I'd suggest calling it "Blinky" for the best Pac-Man ghost.
Izzie’s videos are always my favorites! She’s got such a natural on-camera presence and her vibe is just the best. Can’t wait to see how cool this Mini turns out.
What a wonderful video, thanks so much. Hammond, Clarkson and May didn't forge the most highly sought after series on TV for nothing. This lady, however, is really next level.
Enjoyed that. Especially watching Mike F explain superchargers and turbos to Iz. Most of all, I enjoyed ‘raising the ramp to an appropriate height’. Nice. I’d fit anyway. Can’t wait to see that car finished and Izzy driving on track. Er, I think … !
Do you not have spark plug sockets in the UK? They have a rubber bit in them to hold the plug so you don't have to dig for it with pliers. Also, Never... NEVER drop your plug into the cylinder head. If it hits wrong you can close the gap on the plug and cause firing/performance issues. Lower the plug into the head gently using a spark plus socket and torque to spec.
Yes we do... I've done it without, as shown in the video, when that's the only option! but they're in a proper workshop so would expect the correct tools to be available!
Or, for a DIY hack, use the wrench to loosen it about halfway... Then, grab a long piece of 10-12mm inner diameter rubber hose. The rubber hose can jam itself onto the tip of the spark plug, and allow you to unscrew the last bit of thread, and won't fall out when removing.
She was using a spark plug socket. You know the sockets for plugs have the hex six point on the top. Plus if you have every changed plugs the rubber bushing in the socket isn’t for grip as it is to help prevent breaking the ceramic. I have work on cars a long time and can assure you some plugs don’t like coming out of the hole perfectly straight so even a bit of binding on the head will pull them out of the rubber. Some times you do have to fish them out.
My wife had a Cooper S, but then a massive maple tree limb fell on it. It was all the squirrels' fault. Now she has a Clubman S. It fits more stuff, and I quite like Clubby, but man I loved that Cooper S. Both of them are/were the later turbo versions, so that supercharged version makes me drool. Go Izzy!
Great filming and editing. Izzy noticeably more confident in front of the camera. This was engaging, even though we've all seen these maintenance tasks before, this kept me watching. Well done.
Those r53 cooper s are amazing cars, I miss mine so badly I want to get another! Extremely jealous of this! Can't wait to see what you do with this little rocket Izzy!! 👌👌
The Argies'd literally search through every number displayed in the car, even the dials just to see if it even vaguely resembles 1982, Falklands or just a letter/number from 'em And then proceed to make a huge fuss about it, even going as far as to scrap the car for simply existing........ pitiful, to be honest 😂😂😂
Love how izzy is getting in to her cars like her dad it's amazing to watch and It's great when you work for napa and know all about the napa race team who I'll be seeing soon 🤞
If it's any consolation, my cabin filter is just pop the glove box out and pull a small panel off with your hands, no tools required, super easy to do.
Credit to her for the cabin filter removal, they can be a proper pain i struggle as a tall chap to get the one out my golf (and those are one of the easier ones).
I prefer the R56 (turbo charged) which released a year after this one, and it was the best car. So much fun. The supercharged one is still awesome. And it handles like a go-kart which is awesome.
Don't use the name Hammond when getting it insured.
😂😂😂
Lol
You beat me to it
Why
Brilliant. I laughed heartily at that.
Izzy`s evolution getting involved with cars is so nice.
Izzy is a breath of fresh air. Mini was a great buy.

She's definitely a Hammond alright 😂
Let's go Izzy! Look forward to welcoming you to NAPA Racing HQ.

I didn't know you guys where in the UK, I thought it was US only, lovely surprise :))
This was fun (and somewhat educational) to watch. I'm happy to see that Izzy is going in her father's footsteps! Can't wait for the next episode.

Izzy has truly caught the bug. She'll be like this forever now
But does she find a couple other female gear heads and start a female trio version of the GT? I wouldn't be against it

Great video cant beat getting your first project car and having fun modding it.
It'll need EVERYTHING.. nothing like having a BMW, where you can't get to anything without taking half the car apart.

It also works because of the gauge cluster .

Smart move btw Drivetribe. Having her on without her dad works, she's a real one and that makes the watching fun.

Richard must be really proud. Izzy wasn't natural to begin with, but she has become on par with Mike on camera for sure.
Excellent content with Izzy and Maxwell. Richard and Izzy together for picking the car would have been fun to see.

Baby Blue, bronze rims with chrome barrels, coilovers, remap, exhaust, done ✅
I had a turbocharged Mini , we called it Katie because of its registration plate ( it had an oil leak too ) but it was a great little car.
And the right year too, well done. Best looking BMW owned mini.
Not bad for £1500.
not real for £1500 :P
Why are cars so cheap in England? I'm in the US - that would sell for at least $8000 or 6200 pounds.
2006 R53, running and driving with a full aero kit for £1500… I don’t think so 😂
no way unless she bought it from her aunt.

A trick with spark plug installation, use a rubber hose to lower it down and twist it in place then tighten it with a torgue wrench
