Reira is really a horrible human being and a gr00mer but I feel the same way as you do. Her singing, her voice, her appearance, her vulnerability, I am just fascinated by her and kinda cant help but like her even though I feel terrible about it.
This really couldn't have better summed up how I feel about her. As a teen myself I absolutely think her actions are horrible, however I find it hard to truly hate her because of how much I deeply relate to her about stuff like being half white half Asian.
I guess so but I still don't think it's fair to hold them to the exact same standard. There are a lot of external factors that shape how someone process and handles things later on. Someones temperament is not a choice but they have that when they are born, and is influenced as early as the baby starts developing in the womb.
I think that Nana and Ren are absolutely intended to be Sid and Nancy, They have a poster in their bedroom at the old apartment reading SID & NANCY. And while this is a bit of a reach, Nancy was known to wear a leopard print motif fairly often, and Nanas Iconic fur coat is also Leopard print
I honestly respect your opinions, but I would’ve put Sachiko in the would punch category. Because she very clearly knew that Shoji had a girlfriend, she still pursued a relationship with him. And it’s like, it’s my belief, but the participants of cheater which is the side piece, knowing the significant other is in a relationship is as guilty as the cheater whom is in a relationship. And that was a seriously shady thing to do.
I would put her in the Meh tier too if not for the realization that she literally watched Shoji's complete cowardice during the fallout with Nana, but she still *chose* to be with this idiot; girl, you're an absolute fool if you think this guy is still worth your time after all the bullsht he put both of you girls through. You seriously trust him not to do the same to you too one day? 🤦♀️ So I wouldn't exactly punch her out of dislike, but she's definitely getting a firm bonk on the noggin for basically stooping to Shoji's level of stupidity. They're a perfect match I guess 🤡🤷♀️
Yeah, I recently realized that I kinda hate everything about Shoji lol. Not only the cheating but he was also really weirdly controlling and unnecessarily mean towards Hachi from the start and honestly I don't really see anything of value in him, neither as a person nor as a character lol. I either disliked him or gave no fucks about him.. never was interested to see him on screen. Takumi i.e. at least had interesting dynamics with others, despite of being a pos
Yeah Takumi is really ruthless and avoids confronting his own emotions which makes him selfish and only care about what he wants : his freedom , i even think that all this game of " remaining in control " is just en excuse for him to remain free of any emotional responsability, like you said he seems like a good dad to his children which is good, he is doing his child responsability right, but i also think that Nana needed someone like Takumi, someone that can hurt her and keep her " chill and restrained" because I feel like she'd do the same as what she did with Shoji if Takumi actually put emotional care in her. Which is completly wrong and fucked up but it's so realistic at the same time.
I feel the character of Nana K has sadistic undertones. She seems to be emotionally over with persons who puts too much love and adoration for her even if she loves when she gets attention. She always falls in love with emotionally unavailable people based on her past relationships. It gives her the thrill and dopamine rush.
I was disgusted of Nana bc what she said to Nobuo after he started dating Hachi. She wants everything on her control and for HER. She wants Ren to get off Trapnest, wants Hachi as her pet, wants Yasu to take care of her all time when she's vulnerable. I was disgusted how she had treated Shin too. Finally, she's changing! But, unfortunately she's away... I loved that in the manga, Ren really confronted her about her egoism. Besides that, she's the definition of what a cool person is.
you really explained everything like I would, I'm so happy to see other nana fans feel the same way about these characters (I especially love when you said at the start that you hate most of the characters to some degree bc that's so real) the only character that for me feels REALLY out if place is June, I literally can't stand her and I would put her 100% in the "would punch" tier, like apart from being a really shit friend (I literally cannot understand why she was friend with nana in the first place since all she did was to complain and judge her) but a detail that I unfortunately don't see many people talk about is the fact that SHE REMAINED FRIEND WITH SHOJI AFTER HE CHEATED ON HER, LEFT HER ON THE STREETS OF A CITY SHE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AND TREATED HER SO BADLY like she literally couldn't care less, she never cared about nana and I honestly think the only reason why she was friend with her was because it made her feel better about herself and that's disgusting.
I really wish Hachi had 1 friend healthy enough to give her healthy support and honost feedback. She would have been a completely different character if that was the case.
Shoji for sure is one of the worst. He is so inconsiderate and the cheating was unforgivable. However, I don't remember the anime as well but I remember part of the manga arc was that Hachi went to Tokyo without him knowing and that he didn't want her to clean/cook for him. Her people pleasing (partially born from her awful relationships with men before him) was also an issue in their relationship. Not to mention because of those older men, she had rose-tinted lenses and put him in a box of "he's not like that other guy so he must he better." I love that you said that he sets up her issues really well, but I wanted to just bring up that she had issues she brought in too is all. Loving the video!
6:50 yes, she is immature, but she was 20 at the beginning of the story, she was only a teenager (19) 1-2 years before the story begins, that explains her immaturity. People are still in their youth, i.e. their teenage years, when they are in their early 20s, until 24/25/27 (this varies from country to country). And at 21 you are considered an adult, at 18/19 you are still a teenager. So 20/21 is still very, very young. Above all, 18,19 are still teenagers, like 14-17, you must not forget that they are still children in some way. 20 is no longer a child, but still young.
I wasnt a big fan of takumi because of how he treated hachi before she found out she was pregnant but then he sexually assaults her in the next room with nana o there listening and the fact hachi was pregnant it just made me hate him with a burning passion. Why didn't hachi just choose to raise the baby on her own, she didnt have to marry takumi. Im sure everyone could have supported her without giving up their careers in the process.
I absolutely can not fathom how people have anything but hate left for Reira. Yeah she’s a complex and well written character and yeah she’s pretty, but she’s also actively having sex with a child who she knows is emotionally vulnerable and dependent on her. Every scene with them triggers some bad memories for myself, and I know that’s not the case for everyone but either way her actions are absolutely disgusting.
Yeah its like I like everything about Reira, except who she is and everything she does...mostly I like Trapnest's music, but she is pretty gross. since I have made this video I have really begun to loathe her more and more... You know I have gotten mixed reviews about how I said what she is doing with Shin is horrifying and that is the one thing that has surprised me about comments I have gotten or things I have heard about the character elsewhere. A lot of people have said she is emotionally stunted and damaged but I don't think that excuses it. I shipped Takumi and Reira because they deserve each other and they should just go away together and leave everyone alone, or I don't know...go to jail? Shin's character makes me uncomfortable not because I feel like he is at fault, but more because no one helps him.
@@AislingBlack Yeah I feel the same way, it’s pretty frustrating because I love her design sm and if she weren’t a literal predator I feel like I could relate to some aspects of her character. But her relationship with shin just taints all that for me and when I read the manga or rewatch the anime I’m just insanely angry everytime I see her, mostly because the story itself doesn’t really seem to realise just how bad it is for her to be doing this with a 15 year old boy. Her having sex with Takumi and therefore them betraying Hachi is bad but not unforgivable. But her praying on a child is, and I think too many people in the fandom are trying to defend her.
Fr,I get Shin was The one who did it as a job but he's a 15 year old boy, Reira sure is a cool character but Her predatory side makes me Scream predator Every single time lol
The thing is even though people say Ren is like Sid Vicious, in actuality, Ren doesn't like Sid and isn't a fan of him. It's in one of the character books where Ai Yazawa mentioned that Ren doesn't like Sid at all.
Yeah Ren and Nana are not really anything like Sid and Nancy except with looks. While I find nana and ren a little toxic at times, they are not anywhere near Sid and Nancy levels. Also Ren had real talent where Sid did not (sorry not sorry 😂) one thing I remember about Nancy is Johnny Rotten talks about her having piss-stained tights, and that image has never left me…
Why would there be a large print of sid and nancy in ren/nanas old apartment if he wasn't a fan like that? You think nana purchased this kind of poster for their place? I started reading the manga this past week and I had to find out what this little detail of their apt was referencing
@@Unfortu.nartely Don't know who purchased it but the official character book states that Ren may listen to the songs of Sex Pistol but he's not a fan of Sid Vicious. Ren in actuality doesn't like Sid at all but it's an irony that fans tend to compare him with Sid all the time.
@@Unfortu.nartely So my speculation is that probably Nana's the one who bought that poster. I don't think Ren is the type of person to buy stuff related to things he doesn't like.
A lot of people hate people/characters who are too similar to themselves. Especially if they’re close to the worst parts of themselves they like the least.
i share the exact same thing about trapnest and reira as you. I love Olivia Lufkin's voice and the trapnest songs so much. I just feel like there is a unique sound with them
I actually really dislike Misato. She keeps mooching off of Blast's kindness and it's so messed up how she uses Nana's half sister's (that Nana didn't even know existed) name as a fake name. I know she admits it was creepy, but I honestly don't care. She's just annoying and creepy.
honestly I'm not at all defending what Takumi did but I do think he really tried for Hachi, especially someone who really don't know how to love and went through trauma I can say one thing is that he cared for Hachi during pregnancy and her children, protecting her from the media, i honestly was shocked when he allowed her to keep it or let her choose instead of ditching them, I think he genuinely loves Hachi but his way of doing so is controlling and possessive (atleast he dosent beat her tho) my mother had sort of a similar experience to Takumi growing up not in events but went through that kinda pain a lot of people go through and she is controlling and possesive too sometimes but she wouldnt know what to do without me. One of my old lovers acted like that too because she had a rough childhood and she has a mental condition, and she would have episodes and switch up constantly but I know that that was the most I've ever been loved by anyone. I think the war Takumi fights is realistic of many people and Ai did an amazing job writing him. If all characters we're perfectly sane without flaws it wouldn't make Nana into what it is today, all characters got some sort of flaw like how everyone does.
@@venus-z1y this is a really great comment. I see what you mean about Takumi kind of just showing care differently. I would be lying if I said I was never possessive or controlling of a partner before due to some trauma I have been through. I’m so happy I made this video because I have loved all the comments and I read all of them and I see so many different facets of the series through the way others view the characters. You are 100% correct that the flaws of the characters are what truly make this anime/manga so special. Yazawa just has this way of hurting you as a reader but leaving you feeling changed. Her manga truly have put me more in touch with my own heart than many other medias. I would also be lying if I didn’t admit that Takumi reminds me of someone who horrifically mistreated me and it has colored my opinions on him.
Okay, i happen to love Takumi. Don't know why but i was obsessed with him growing up. I know he does some very messed up things but i always thought he weirdly enough was the most reliable character in the show (just knew how to solve almost any problem; everyone would turn to him when things would go wrong). I know it's a popular theory that he got back with Nana just to hurt Nobu but I don't think he cared about Nobu all that much. For him, it was about becoming a father he never had. Later in the manga, you can see how insecure he is about that part of his life. In his own way, i think he cares about making people around him happy.
This is a really interesting take on Takumi, and I do kind of agree. I think he did end up being a good father, which makes me very happy. I like to think maybe after Trapnest fell apart that maybe he changed for the better.
he wasn’t reliable for anyone’s sake except for his own. the decisions he made regarding hachi’s pregnancy were solely for his benefit and to avoid a public scandal. and like the person above said, he r*ped hachi. twice. and he cheats on her in the manga. he’s a horrible person through and through.
26:20 I like Shins character actually so people would assume that I hate Reira.. But to be honest I don’t feel like she is a bad person she struggled a lot and she cared about Shin. But it would have been great if she would have stopped and helped Shin especially because she has a lot money. The real bad person is Ryoko (I would kill her as u said haha)
As much as I hate shoji, I think he was less angry about being friend zoned and more angry about the fact that Hachi had been treating him as if they were together already despite not wanting to commit to them. It wasn’t about her not dating him immediately, but about her leading him on and stringing him along so that she could have her on her terms without having to commit to his. Again, I dislike him heavily, but I understand why he was angry with her.
yea idk but for me the entire blast members are the realest one especially Yasu, jun and kyosuke are too bc they DONT play around with ppl's feelings like Hachi. i just hate hachi bc she's so naive and too coward to learn how to appreciate and grown some ballz. i think bc of what she did, the lives of the ppl around her became worse. i feel sorry for Nana bc she needed Hachi.
As much as I like Hachi, I do think she is sort of naive and at times selfish. I like to think that Hachi grew up a little in the time between the story and the ending we have, but who knows. Yasu is the real deal :P
Yes, I would agree with that. I think they just weren't a good couple. I do think they liked each other, but they both obviously had different priorities at that time. This is why I think Sachiko (love her or hate her) is a better match for Shouji. They had so much in common, both being students and working at the same place. I think the Hachi Shouji thing is like one of those relationships where it seems so serious because they are young and "in love" but really they both were pretty immature and just weren't going to work as a couple. I guess that is why I get confused when people are so sad they broke up? What Shouji did was extremely hurtful, but I don't really think it was he worst thing that happened in this series. You are completely right though, Hachi is not without blame for this relationship ending. I mostly dislike Shouji because he kind of led Sachiko on and didn't tell her until way later about his girlfriend, and by that time they already were emotionally cheating. Thank you for your comment I really appreciate it and I have so much fun reading these comments.
"I mean just get therapy, you're rich" xD just died of laughter. I somehow like takumi and would put him in "bad person but still like" - but my favourite is yasu
I will say that Takumi adds a lot to the story, he is a very dynamic character, and deep, which I really respect. Every story needs a "villain" even though I wouldn't call Takumi a villain in a cliche way. He is more just a complication. He needs to be in the story, I do eat up his drama.
I love Miu so much and I didn't even know why but she was such a like able character to me but the points you brought up made me realize why I like her so much and why she's one of my favorite characters alongside yasu and naoki (don't ask about naoki because I don't know why I like him so much either 😭)
The title of this video made me laugh, so thank you for that! 😂 I couldn't even finish the anime when i first watched this almost a decade ago. I just didn't like any of the characters. I also had different outlooks in life. But decided to rewatch it recently and i guess what i didnt like in the past i now perceived as "real". Like, people are not all good or all bad. I can appreciate the stories more now whereas back then i was annoyed by the melodrama and immaturity of the characters. The music made it a memorable anime, tho! I liked listening to Anna and Olivia's music. I also got indirectly introduced to Shiina Ringo and Tokyo Jihen, which became part of my all time favorite artist/band. (Because i confused Shiina's voice to belong to Anna in the Sakuran trailer 😅)
This video is amazing. Thank you. It gave me a new perspective on the show altogether since I watched it way too young, then I should have (9). I think I should read the manga now that I am an adult, but I'm scared of being sad all over again. Lol
I'm so happy you enjoyed the video. I would say the hurt is worth it, but I usually have to wait at least a year between reading or watching Nana all the way through. It is intense
Some relatively important characters are missing, Yasu's ex and their band manager. I kind of like Takumi because I see him as a plot device to bring more dramas and emotions into the story.
Yeah, I remembered the band manager after I published this, (whoops) but I totally forgot that Yasu dated someone after Reira and before Miu, I had to look it up because it was wiped from my mind apparently.
I really wish Shin was like 20 and Reira 26. I like the concept of her being older and him a prostitute and their "relationship" starting bc of what Shin does BUT NOT with those ages. It's a weird feeling because since they're fictional its almost like I like the idea of their story but hate it for their ages Idk how to explain in a way that doesn't sound weird but i really do hate the age gap I know Reira being 26 wouldn't make sense technically but I would age up Takumi as well so that they would be in the same class in highschool but Ren and Yasu would be 3-4 years younger than them
17:55 i strongly disagree, Hachiko didnt deserve to be cheated on, however she did messed up things to Shoji, she ignored him all the time for Nana, and okay i understand she wanted to put her new friend first but i find it deeply wrong. You can't just come to the same city as your boyfriend and leave him for a random girl you met simply because he wanted you to be independant in a city like Tokyo. I think Shoji was a good boyfriend throughout the whole anime except when he cheated. But he isnt a bad guy imo, Shoji was trying to see Hachi any moment he could and Hachi just ignored him and was having her childish fun, which again, both were wrong and not wrong at the same time. Shoji was wrong for not confronting Hachi about their relationship and was lazy and got conforted by Sachiko (which isn't a bad person either, except when she slept with Shoji, but her catching feels for Shoji isnt wrong, it happens a lot, yeah it's painful but that if it was still a secret it would have been okay. But I get some people had the urge to confess because she couldn't hold anything anymore). Hachi was a kind girlfriend and very supportive and would do acts of service to please, just like Shoji was kind to her but also annoyed by her immaturity, he's the kind of guy who would prefer a "good girl" type of person, that doesn't go party a lot, and is more chill and serious, unlike Hachiko who is kinda the opposite (she is still a good girl with good intentions and all, but lack seriousness, it's fine, she will grow i hope). Like I wonder how would people react if Hachi met Takumi/ Nobu earlier and was ghosted by Shoji for weeks, yknow ? I haven't read the manga so, idk maybe Shoji cheats on Sachiko later too lol ? Idk, but my point shortly, I think this anime is very well made, the characters are realistic I find, some characters are contradictory of themselves just like real people are.
These are really good points. I think with Shouji for me it’s mostly, never mentioning he had a girlfriend to Sachiko. Like that’s not the first thing you have to tell a person, but him and Sachiko were getting close… and she really didn’t know he had a girlfriend for sure. Now on the other hand maybe she never asked and was just hoping it would all go away. Also Shouji at times did treat Hachi OK, but I still don’t understand why he made her wait a year to come to Tokyo. I think Shouji probably didn’t cheat on Sachiko but I’ve seen other people say they think he would. I do think Hachi was kind of ignoring him, while reading your comment I definitely thought about that aspect of the situation more. But I really just think Shouji and Hachi weren’t a good match. I also wonder if Hachi feels bad for ditching Shouji and then later in the series she gets together with Takumi she mostly just hangs out at the apartment they share for that reason. I know she still sees BLAST but it is waaaay less often. Thank you for your comment it made me cut Shouji a little slack. Interestingly my problem is less with how Shouji treated Hachi and more with his treatment of Sachiko, but I didn’t mention this because I made a whole video about Sachiko, but honestly the way he strung both of them along was crazy. But I often forget the period he is seeing them both is only like a week or two (I think?) I know realistically Hachi really fits in the Bad person still like tier: she does a lot of bad things, but right or wrong I forgive a lot of it. (I’m very biased 🫠)
Nah he was a terrible bf even before cheating on her. Was unnecessarily mean. And most importantly he's the one who always complained about how hachi was clingy and had nothing else going on for her except being his gf. But the moment she started becoming more independent, had new friends and didn't cling onto him, that was a problem? I'll always hate shoji no matter what. The way he even tried to argue with kyosuke that he'd cheat on junko too... embarrassing really. Shoji is trash through and through
What I find funny is, there’re bunch of this kinda NANA ranking in Japan and the result is completely different. Actually Sachiko is one of the most hated characters in shoujo-manga history and she’s known as the definition of “the enemy girl of all girls”. The “I did it on purpose.” scene is a famous meme. Also Miu is not a popular girl. And what’s surprising is Takumi is not that hated.😂
That's really interesting. I did not know Miu wasn't popular! Yeah, I made a video talking about what I think of Sachiko because, from what I remember, when the manga/anime came out, everyone hated her so much. But people on the video commented that they didn't really hate her that much. Personally, I think Sachiko is just like a normal girl who did some shitty stuff, not some evil mastermind, but I don't like her either ...like, I wouldn't trust her. I can almost understand why Takumi isn't as hated in Japan because he's kind of like...a take-charge logical type. Even though I think he purposely loved taking Hachi away from Nobu, at the same time, it does make sense that with his means he would be able to provide for both Hachi and baby more than Nobu...monetarily. Logically a lot he does makes sense, but I think so many people think of the Blast members as "scrappy underdogs" so we want to root for them. One thing that I do believe Takumi did right is trying to make sure that Trapnest is always playing their best, I do respect that. My main problem with Takumi is him forcing himself on Hachi, and he's kind of fun to hate. It's been cool seeing all the comments on my two Nana videos, I've even changed some of my opinions because people made such good points.
@@AislingBlack I think it’s cultural and age difference cuz I lived in the US when I was a kid so my opinion was little westernized and all of my friends said I was weird when we were teenagers, but now all of them said they were wrong. Japan in the 90’s-00’s, there were huge trend of “Mote” and “Aisare” which means “attract men” and “be loved by men”. Like magazines about Mote fashion and Mote makeup, songs about girls obsessed with men who don’t love them, TV programs like “how to be loved by men” kinda things. And of course not all girls liked it, so some girls didn’t care the “Mote” idea, and those girls were called “Sabasaba”(maybe pick me girl in English?) Then media stirred up the “Mote girls vs Sabasaba girls battle”. Anyway, that trend made girls’ self esteem lower and lower. So about Takumi, at that time we actually didn’t have the idea of gaslighting or emotional abuse. Sadly it was completely normal thing that men being selfish and manipulative and being rich is the perfect excuse to justify everything to be good husband/father. So not many people recognized Takumi’s issue, they considered him as kind and responsible man cuz he didn’t force Hachi an abortion or just disappear saying “it can’t be my kid!” just like horrible Japanese men in real life. And Sachiko, we have this word “Burikko” which means girls who try to act cute and innocent too much just to attract men. It’s so common conversation between guys and girls, like 👩🏻How could men not recognize she’s faking her cuteness!? She’s hunting guys with the Burikko attitude! Girls can tell! 🧑🏻Nah she’s so innocent that’s her real personality. You’re just jealous.” And I think Sachiko triggered that kinda girls’ experiences.😂 About Miu, she triggered girls’ experiences as well, unfortunately there were many young girls who cut their wrists to get attention. Maybe still now. We saw many posts that girls showed off their bloody wrists, it was kinda trendy to be “girl with dark background” and they were called “Men-hera” which means someone who (pretends to) have mental issue. So Miu seemed one of that kinda girls, cuz she was Men-hera even she doesn’t have that much dark background. This also explains how Japanese society doesn’t take serious about any mental problems. Anyway it’s 25th anniversary of NANA so there’re some exhibitions and collab with shoe brand in Japan and it’s now getting popular for younger generations again. It’s interesting to see the reaction by all different countries and generations! Sorry for my bad English btw.😅
as much as i hate takumi, i learned he was based off of buck-tick's lead singer atsushi sakurai (rest in peace ;_;) and i didn't hate him as much. AS much. I'd still tackle him if he came anywhere near Hachi
@@ProxyNumber001 Well, there's a simple reason. We, fans, like Sakurai Atsushi and we don't think he's a jerk like Takumi. Sakurai Atsushi appeared to be a professional and lovely person, even though we didn't know him personally. It's just kinda offensive, but I get that they have some similarities :)
I hate Takumi too, along with Shoji and Sachiko. And i really love Nana and Hachi ♡ I don't think that Reira is disgusting, she's just broken and lost...
Takumi gets undeserved hate. He literally carries his band and has never had a real emotional connection with someone until Hachi but he's super busy and Nana goes and sleeps around and then steps up when Nana is pregnant. Shoji is a piece of shit.
I hate takumi becquse of his obsession of controling eveyone and eveything ...even his band mates, he has a big ego and to make matters worse he's rich and talented...he thinks he's unstoppable
where is your logic guys? Reira meets a married man, she's so stupid and scolds the marriage. Nana is dating a married man oh no Nana is so poor and sweet. but just accept the fact that Nana understood what she was doing and Reira had been manipulating Takumi since her school days.
I agree with what you are saying, but I guess for me the difference is that Married dude was a lot older than Hachi who was like 16-17 , and Reira and Takumi are the same age. I agree I don't think Hachi is an angel by any means. She was old enough to kind of understand what she was doing, but I still think too young to be dating a man in his late twenties (just my opinion) anyways. I do think that Hachi was more of a victim in this situation even if she knew it was wrong because teenagers really can't consent to adults in my opinion. I don't know if I said this, but I actually do feel sorry for Reira. Because for her, it's always been Takumi. And I don't really blame her for still loving Takumi even after he is married. But the difference is Hachi was a teenager when she hurt a marriage, reira was an adult. I think Reira does have some issues with arrested development though...I don't hate her for chasing a married Takumi, I just think it wasn't especially kind. I actually kind of wish Reira and Takumi would have ended up together... I don't know if I mentioned this but Reira is just a sad damaged character for me. And I totally understand that the flings Takumi had maybe she didn't feel threatened by, but she did feel threatened by Hachi and the marriage. Is Hachi a perfect person or completely innocent in her affair with the married man, no, not at all. But I do cut her a bit more slack because she was younger when it happened. I agree though maybe people including myself are a bit too hard on Reira. @@aikosha6538
As soon as you put Hachi in the love tier, I was done. I was almost with you when you put her in the bad person still like category. I see Hachi as the straight villain in the series. One of them.
Finally someone said it!!! Ngl I hate Hachi, she and Takumi deserve each other. She's just so selfish and stupid that I can't empathize with her at the end of the series. Like, it was her own fault and she hurt others in the process
Hachi as a villain is crazy when several other characters have been just as bad (if not worse). Nana O was a manipulative toxic girl that objectified the people around her, ESPECIALLY towards Hachi. And not to mention how she treated Shin in the manga with the police incident.
@vidious5530 Nana O did nothing wrong. In the sense that she wasn't a completely evil non caring person. That police situation with Shin was BECAUSE she cared about him and wanted him to do better.
@@CHARLESXTDOOLEY Cared about him? Ren literally called her out for the nasty way she spoke about Shin after his scandal. Ren isn’t perfect but even he was disgusted by the way she acted in that moment. And let’s not forget how she only wanted Nobu to date Hachi so that she could keep Hachi by her side. It makes sense bc Nana O has abandonment issues, bc she objectifies the ppl around her a lot
REIRA ISNT BAD PERSON!!! She felt lonely, thats why she bought Shin. The age of consent in Japan is 13 (thats digusting and i dont support it, but Reira didnt break the law.) I also dont support her actions, but shes just very lonely person. REIRA WAS THE ONLY PERSON WHO CARED ABOUT REN AND WANTED TO HELP HIM. She just fall in love w Shin and Shin fall w her. Shes just not mentally stable and no one wants to help her. She didnt hurt Shin and never forced him to do anything
The age of consent thing isn't even true it's a misconception based on a misreading of the law. It ranges between 16-18 across all of Japan. But legalist arguments aside grooming is grooming whether you do it for pleasure or because you feel hollow it's despicable.
Technically no, the age of consent was is 13 but in Tokyo prefecture it is 18. While the country age of consent was 13, recently changed to 16, each prefecture has their own age of consent. Personally I find their relationship pretty messed up, but I do enjoy reading about it because imo he sees her as woman in his life that he never really had, a caring mother figure. Kind of messed up but it's pretty interesting asa dinamic.
I mean every character being a little bit hateable makes it more realistic. This is how actual people like
Thank you!
that's why I love this anime. The characters are extremely flawed, but this makes them realistic and somewhat relatable.

Reira is really a horrible human being and a gr00mer but I feel the same way as you do. Her singing, her voice, her appearance, her vulnerability, I am just fascinated by her and kinda cant help but like her even though I feel terrible about it.
pretty privilege
Ughhhh me too. Tbh until she said her age i thought she was 16/17
This really couldn't have better summed up how I feel about her. As a teen myself I absolutely think her actions are horrible, however I find it hard to truly hate her because of how much I deeply relate to her about stuff like being half white half Asian.
Wasnt she like 20 ?
And he was 17/ 18 ? I find kinda odd but called it gr00ming...
Yasu and Ren both lived in the same institution, but Yasu was adopted in the end. Ren ran away.
ah, thank you!! I thought they were both in an orphanage or foster house but I couldn't remember the exact circumstances.
I guess so but I still don't think it's fair to hold them to the exact same standard. There are a lot of external factors that shape how someone process and handles things later on. Someones temperament is not a choice but they have that when they are born, and is influenced as early as the baby starts developing in the womb.
I know that isn't what you were saying but a lot of people have done that with Ren and Yasu
@@xAsiyah I totally agree with you.
Takumi is Hachi demon lord in human skin. She predicted sachicko, she brought her demon lord into existence. What else can she do?
Ah nah since shoji and sachiko stuck together, they can both get killed together. I HATE THEM BOTH RAHHHH. They are both pos!
To me, the cheater is the worst person in the scenario. Then the person they cheated with, if they knew. If they didn't know, they're innocent.
So I wouldn't exactly punch her out of dislike, but she's definitely getting a firm bonk on the noggin for basically stooping to Shoji's level of stupidity.
Idk I just don't like him because.... like all NANA characters this dude is Oh So Familiar and I'm sure that says things about me lmao
I feel the character of Nana K has sadistic undertones. She seems to be emotionally over with persons who puts too much love and adoration for her even if she loves when she gets attention. She always falls in love with emotionally unavailable people based on her past relationships. It gives her the thrill and dopamine rush.
Bro she was raped
I was disgusted of Nana bc what she said to Nobuo after he started dating Hachi. She wants everything on her control and for HER. She wants Ren to get off Trapnest, wants Hachi as her pet, wants Yasu to take care of her all time when she's vulnerable. I was disgusted how she had treated Shin too. Finally, she's changing! But, unfortunately she's away...
I loved that in the manga, Ren really confronted her about her egoism. Besides that, she's the definition of what a cool person is.
This was so entertaining to watch! And your points were so well made
Thank you that’s so nice of you to say!
you really explained everything like I would, I'm so happy to see other nana fans feel the same way about these characters (I especially love when you said at the start that you hate most of the characters to some degree bc that's so real) the only character that for me feels REALLY out if place is June, I literally can't stand her and I would put her 100% in the "would punch" tier, like apart from being a really shit friend (I literally cannot understand why she was friend with nana in the first place since all she did was to complain and judge her) but a detail that I unfortunately don't see many people talk about is the fact that SHE REMAINED FRIEND WITH SHOJI AFTER HE CHEATED ON HER, LEFT HER ON THE STREETS OF A CITY SHE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AND TREATED HER SO BADLY like she literally couldn't care less, she never cared about nana and I honestly think the only reason why she was friend with her was because it made her feel better about herself and that's disgusting.

Thinking back shoji was the og anime "nise guy " 😂
Takumi is a def a bad guy i still like 😂
I can’t believe you didn’t put Junko on would punch for what she did to Nana
I like to think maybe after Trapnest fell apart that maybe he changed for the better.
he grapes hachi though
he wasn’t reliable for anyone’s sake except for his own. the decisions he made regarding hachi’s pregnancy were solely for his benefit and to avoid a public scandal. and like the person above said, he r*ped hachi. twice. and he cheats on her in the manga. he’s a horrible person through and through.

We need a special tier list for takumi at the bottom (I needed to clarify bottom b/c some people…)
Great video

I absolutely agree with Shin, that's how I'm seeing it
Hachi was my favorite character. But when she chose to marry takumi I just couldn’t stand her anymore
I couldn't even finish the anime when i first watched this almost a decade ago.
Funny seeing Shiina Ringo mentioned here lmao I love her music too and I'm just glad to spot another fan in the wild like this 😆🫶
Incredible how our ranking is different, but it's interesting to hear other perspective about the characters.
I agree it's so fun to hear others thoughts on these great characters!!
Also yes, Takumi is necessary. Even though I don't care for him I guess I can admit that lol
I really wish Shin was like 20 and Reira 26. I like the concept of her being older and him a prostitute and their "relationship" starting bc of what Shin does BUT NOT with those ages. It's a weird feeling because since they're fictional its almost like I like the idea of their story but hate it for their ages
Idk how to explain in a way that doesn't sound weird but i really do hate the age gap
I know Reira being 26 wouldn't make sense technically but I would age up Takumi as well so that they would be in the same class in highschool but Ren and Yasu would be 3-4 years younger than them
17:55 i strongly disagree, Hachiko didnt deserve to be cheated on, however she did messed up things to Shoji, she ignored him all the time for Nana, and okay i understand she wanted to put her new friend first but i find it deeply wrong.
It’s so common conversation between guys and girls, like
👩🏻How could men not recognize she’s faking her cuteness!? She’s hunting guys with the Burikko attitude! Girls can tell!
🧑🏻Nah she’s so innocent that’s her real personality. You’re just jealous.”
And I think Sachiko triggered that kinda girls’ experiences.😂
About Miu, she triggered girls’ experiences as well, unfortunately there were many young girls who cut their wrists to get attention.

I hate takumi becquse of his obsession of controling eveyone and eveything ...even his band mates, he has a big ego and to make matters worse he's rich and talented...he thinks he's unstoppable
Accurate
Thank you :D
I'm used to be scared to date because my childhood crush was Takumi haha and somehow i always end up with skinny dudes with long hair I'm cautions
I married a tall skinny dude who used to have long black hair so… I feel you 😆
where is your logic guys? Reira meets a married man, she's so stupid and scolds the marriage. Nana is dating a married man oh no Nana is so poor and sweet. but just accept the fact that Nana understood what she was doing and Reira had been manipulating Takumi since her school days.
and also Nana just wanted love, no matter from whom, while Reira wanted love precisely from Takumi
@@aikosha6538
how do you see a highschool girl getting groomed and think "oh wow thats her fault" 🤯
Nana literally got groomed , wtf is wrong with you 💀
You kinda have weird taste but alright
As soon as you put Hachi in the love tier, I was done. I was almost with you when you put her in the bad person still like category. I see Hachi as the straight villain in the series. One of them.
Finally someone said it!!! Ngl I hate Hachi, she and Takumi deserve each other. She's just so selfish and stupid that I can't empathize with her at the end of the series. Like, it was her own fault and she hurt others in the process
@@MH107-she does not deserve someone that raped her lmao what
Hachi as a villain is crazy when several other characters have been just as bad (if not worse).
Hated Hachi and Takumi
Same
Nah Hachi is lame af so she goes way under the list
bruh how annoying is this ? too much talking in the beginning like girl get to the video
💀
Kind of messed up but it's pretty interesting asa dinamic.
fictional or not, imagine defending groomers LMAO could not be me
😨
so, you like tops… hit me up…
I love takumi 😢
Hey to each his own!
