The intro fits perfectly for Origins. I remember hearing it in the intro and when the guitar kicks in you can imagine the band in the destroyed church playing in the background
Not until Dempsey coming down from a tank, shoots zombies with the MG08, knifing zombies, and punches even more. Nikolai and his juicy axe, with the Olympia equipped. Takeo, making a huge entrance, slicing the zombies with his katana, and in tune to the song.

Yeah, that's what I love about this band. You can see and feel their friendship in their interactions with eachother, whereas a lot of other bands claim to be good friends yet sometimes seem to just do it for the camera. Sure helps when you start a band with your childhood friends and actually stick together instead of bringing in some dude because he may share you musical vision or is the player you're looking for in that moment without knowing him as a person, which I'd say was the case with Arin. Didn't look as comfortable as the rest because after all he was some guy that didn't grow up with them. Brooks on the other hand seems to fit in perfect.
Please do Dear God soon, I feel like it’s one of the bands most underrated songs, but listening to the song with lyrics it’s one of the most beautiful songs in your catalog. I know there’s the making of the song out there, but a further breakdown would be even better, and something I would personally love to watch.
Tom Foulk Couldn’t agree more. I absolutely adore that song. It’s one of my favourites. I love to play it when I’m driving as it completely relaxes me when I’m feeling stressed out.

Shepard of fire is what got me into avenged sevenfold when I loaded up origins for the first time I immediately looked it up on UA-cam, and started looking through their discography
@mattbarth3205 I have to disagree there. HTTK overall sound engineering and production are way better. The sound is massive on the drums and the guitar tone and sound are to die for. One thing is for you to prefer the writing, instrumentation and style of earlier albums, but you can't deny that HTTK production and sound is impressive and massive. I recommend listening to the CD version on a good sound system with the base turned up a little. It sounds amazing. One of the best sounding albums I've heard. 👌
I’ve thought about it, and I think the drums would’ve been exactly the same if Jimmy was still alive. Matt and Syn were in charge, and they told him not to try anything too crazy.
This is a great series of videos. Its always fun to see the process different bands go through to write and record the stuff I listen to everyday. Keep it up guys!

I love how shadows mentioned that the intro was supposed to signify that they were in hell. It’s something that didn’t jump out at me but now that I heard it here I can’t look past it.
Okay Matt... I always thought you were a decent singer, but just watching your knowledge and your passion for the craft of music is absolutely amazing. Always been a big fan but now I'm a bigger fan rock on guys
I loved this song so much. It was so great. I love a solo from Syn, ofc, but I also loved how good Arin was. He did a great job creating a rhythm. He was pounding his heart out on those drums during the recording and the actual music video and it’s honestly incredible to watch. I’m glad you guys still talk good stuff about what he did so long after he left.
I'm glad they mentioned the simplicity of the drums. It was what I initially didn't like about this album, having grown up in the post-hardcore / metalcore scenes where the drumming is much more technical. Even the earlier Avenged records, Jimmy would fucking kill it on his kit. So the simplicity caught me off guard. But as I spent time with it, the old school vibe really rubbed off on me and I could appreciate the hell out of the "boot stomping" style of drumming that's found all over this record. Now the groove on songs like this, Heretic, Planets, and Requiem are up there in some of my favorite tracks Avenged has ever produced. Love these behind the scenes videos.
As a long term fan, these breakdown vids are so cool to watch, it's very interesting seeing the process you guys go through to bring us these tracks, I hope you keep doing these.

Unfortunately a breakdown won't be possible of that song without Jimmy. He wrote everything and recorded everything himself at first. Of course each musician played their own instruments for the actual track but Jimmy wrote it by himself almost secretly. Nobody knows how he came up with everything except him
I don’t think they would be able to do that as it would probably make them too emotional. I mean, it was the last song Jimmy wrote. There’s even a video of them playing that song live and they couldn’t keep it together. That might also be hard since Jimmy’s, you know, not there.
