If you can pass this on to Julia, because I know you're friends, you should tell her to look for a quarter sized battery called an EPROM, remove it while the computer is unplugged for 20-30 seconds and then replace it. I fixed the same problem on a computer a long time ago. I don't know if it'll work here. Just trying to help.

The difference between brownies and chocolate cake is brownies being (at least a bit) fudgy. If it’s all cakey it’s not a brownie
There are definitely places that will give you a dry-ass cake brownie that isn't good, and places that will give you a fudge brownie that's basically just goo. The box brownies Julia showed are neither one or the other, they're the perfect balance between two states.
I know she said up front she had a hard stance on this, but geez. Why ask people their preference if you'll just tell them they're wrong?

As a deaf subscriber I just wanted to shout out how awesome the subtitles are on this channel! I rarely feel (even with subtitles) that I am getting the same experiences as a hearing person but I definitely feel included on this channel ❤❤
I've noticed that as well! I only notice how much subtitles help my adhd and autism when they are not there and I have been just sitting and listening but not understanding for a few minutes 😂

You know, Julia was deaf as a child. I wonder if that plays into the decision to provide such good subtitles.
The picture Julia showed for "cakey" brownies is actually a chewy brownie. It's a mix between cakey and fudgey and is actually what your basic box mix will instruct you to make. That's also why chat didn't quite notice a difference, because there's very obvious fudgey texture to the middle while also displaying the crumb of a cakey brownie.
Cakey brownies have more of a rise, making them taller than fudgey and chewy brownies, and will have the obvious crumb/aeration throughout the entire brownie.
Yea this fell quickly into a semantics discussion more than a 'how do you like your brownie' discussion. bc what she showed was for sure the happy middle ground most folks aim for. Personally I like my brownies with chonks of chocolate in them, so I deffo fall into the fudgey category.
I don't think I've ever had a true cakey brownie that hasn't been dry b/c of the ingredient ratios longer backs almost always mean its real dry unless you modify the recipe for a longer bake.

@porkinsdlx5764 you don't really need to bake them longer (althoufh admittedly i just make brownies Until They're Done) to make them cakey, you need to use different ingredients. if doing it with boxed mix, you have to use butter instead of oil and milk instead of water, and add an extra egg or two depending on how many it calls for by default (three is the goal). they come out when a knife in the center comes out without raw batter.
i remember most boxes having those instructions printed on them but idk. maybe only certain brands.

@@triangleshinyyeah, box mix usually has instructions for cakey. The ones I've seen don't change the oil and water to butter and milk though. Usually it's just more eggs and maybe a slightly higher ratio of water and oil. Butter and milk is more like the home bakers trick to making box mix better lol
The environmental storytelling in the bard area is much cooler on the rewatch. Like the "auto fan" Jacob comments on is actually above a place in the sewer where a blue-masked bard is turning a wheel... so it's actually operated by slave labour!

Ooh I never picked up on that! Such good storytelling. The warriors idolize the bards and think their society is utopian, we initially see the area as this ideal location. But then you find out that it was a lie

Yes! I was lowkey seething like “what is even the difference between a cakey brownie and a chocolate sheet cake, then????” 😂 Brownies are all about that nice, succulent, dense texture, and if you don’t like that, then you don’t like brownies, you like chocolate cake, and that’s fine!
Nothing has ever been said or done on this channel to cause the level of upheaval and anger than throwing shade at fudgy brownies without realizing that box brownies which they said are superior are what most of us define as fudgy.
it's crazy because when people said they didnt like cakey brownies because it was dry, they were like " well those are just bad brownies we're not talking about those, we're talking about a normal level of cakey" but then when people were saying they liked fudgy brownies they were like "no way you like those EXTREMELY dense WET mushy brownies, that's what we mean when we say fudgy, anything above that is in the 'cakey' category and you just dont know what a fudgy brownie is"
jacob, julia, we are also talking about a normal level of fudgy when we say we like fudgy brownies, a brownie can be fudgy without being a wet glob just like a brownie can be cakey without being a crumbly dry mess, come on now.
Yeah, it seemed to me that it was largely that the definition of things being disagreed on made people take it very seriously rather than the preference.
I think Julia based her definition on the idea that brownies are by definition kinda "fudgy" or sticky/chewy. There's after all a pretty big difference between having some of a texture and being all that texture. That's what I got.
The Warrior language being constellation-based, and thus typically having abstract depictions of the things themselves, helped me figure out the glyphs for the four bells despite failing to notice the torch being interactible, allowing me to progress even though I initially couldn't access the treasure room. It was fun seeing that connection when I backtracked to complete my journal.

The bards' grammar is quite complex. My guess as of 1:59:00 is they do object-subject-verb in the positive form, but the negative form is verb-subject (don't know where the object goes). I was not expecting these kinds of features in a game that asks you to puzzle out languages like this.

I did the same. I somehow got through the bard section without understanding the sentence structure. Probably because after you translate the game will move it around for you. It made the translations a lot harder in the late game.

I'm glad to see that I wasn't the only one stuck on the Bard level, I ran in circles for a REALLY long time.
i know that it's usually only happening in the beginning of the streams but i love seeing Jacob and Julia's beer selections, it reminds me of when i worked at this craft beer place. they're not gonna read this but seeing that makes me want to recommend them some craft beers. i feel like Julia would like the Hypercone Imperial Stout from Seven Islands Brewery, it tastes just like chocolate ice cream when it's cold with a hint of strawberry. it gets more banana and waffle cone-y as it warms up, too. it's a good stout.

Deffo Seems like those 'cakey brownies' Julia showed were just bog standard brownies, which I wouldn't say are cakey, those are specifically what I would call brownie texture, anything more aerated and leavened than that would be cakey and anything more dense and wet would be fudgey, Turns out the middle ground texture for brownie is brownie texture.

I’ve researched it. There are chewy, cakey, and fudgey brownies. It’s something about the eggs. I think I’ve had good fudgey ones but cakey is usually where you can’t miss
look it doesn't matter but to me cakey->fudgy is a spectrum and I prefer more fudgy over more cakey. and those box brownies are probably actually a p good balance between the two to me

also u can bake box mix brownies to either fudgy or cakey stage, just depends on a) what box mix specifically and b) if u pull it out at the shorter or longer end of the cooking range

I sure hope this information is too late. However, I’ve never heard of that power issue, but to me it sounds like an issue with the motherboard. I would update the firmware then if that doesn’t resolve it call the manufacturer’s support line.

LMFAO, the whole brownie conversation was SO funny to me -- I've had this same conversation multiple times. I knew exactly what Julia meant the first time and it was so funny to watch the back and forth. (For the record, I like both cakey and fudgey brownies, with a slight preference for cakey but if you give me ANY brownie I will be delighted to have a brownie)
