She would put pinesol,valium and other strong meds into his food, then take him to all kinds of doctors. That's most likely why they were moving a lot also cause she would always look for a different doctor to fool if the other one didn't believe her. There is a pull between this song and Headlights. There is very very few artists who get raw and real about their personal stories. I heard Cleanin Out My Closet when it dropped. I did not know of Headlights till last year. As a person who was estranged from the family growing up (I have been brought back in for over 20 years) I know it took a lot of reflection to come to Headlights. I never thought the power and impact of Eminem/Shady/Marshal was the pen, lyricism, flow, or any of the technical. It is the raw unbridled emotion that he can bring into a song.
In my my area, Eminem was not at all controversial, and we only ever heard of the issues with it on the news. People expected rap to cover more "controversial" themes, so it was no biggie. Everyone knew just to not buy his CDs from Wal-Mart because they'll be censored and keep going on with your life.
