I have hibiscus hybrids. They produce floweres as large as dinner plates. Last summer I followed your video and cross pollinated my giant red with my giant white. So far success as I did get seeds! Woo Hoo I’m getting ready start those seeds indoors today and if all goes well my new little plants will be ready for planting in mid May! Wish me luck!
I had mine fall off on a windy day. Get some soft netting and very gently wrapped it around the pod You can use a bread tie or staple it That should help from anything knocking it off. Good luck. Let me know how you make out.
Update. Since posting this I’ve crossed my hybrids with my standard Hibiscus as well and now have 12 different species I’ll be planting those seeds indoors soon so their ready for summer. I m so excited to see what my new species look like.
Mine aren't producing seeds. I am not able to cover them as the stigma is larger then the petels in my variety. The pods either fall or they don't produce seeds. Don't know what am I doing wrong. Have red, pink, and japanese lantern.
Sir u r very different from other gardeners. Ur vast nd precise knowledge is like enphyclopedia itself. Please taugh us as u always..we need it most. Ur precise knowledge saving us from wrong efforts. MANY MANY THANKS for saving our time.❤😊
Thank you so much for the video! I kept trying to find help online but they just kept talking about a seed pod without actually explaining anything. None of them ever mentioned pollinating the flowers at all. This video helped me so much and gave me the confidence that I can do it myself. I can't wait to try!
Wow fascinating !!! My plant just created seed pods I wasn’t sure what it was so did not pluck it away like other flowers now I can collect seeds from it n have many many hibiscus plants 😱 😍
That orange flowers last looks soooooo beautiful 😍 love it soooooo much!!. Will definitely do this when i have good results with the red one im trying to propagate
So does the colour of the new flower depend on the colour of the parent ones? I mean will it be a combination of two colours or take its own colour, besides being big? Thanks in advance..
My hibiscus 's petals are not able to cover its stigma cuz they are not that big . Will that cause any problem? Some one plz help @urbangardening please reply fast

Hello! Do you have (or could you make) a video of the color results of the hibiscus crosses. I working on a bunch this year as well and just curious which combinations will create what colors. Also can I cross a tropical hibiscus with a hardy hibiscus? Don’t know if it’ll work or if it will turn out to be tropical or hardy if it does. Thanks for posting! Amy-Chesapeake, VA
Awesome info. Thanks a lot! I had always planted them from cuttings...did not even knew that this plant also made seeds! BTW the plants germinating from these seeds will take the colour of the mother plant..or it also depends on the other/polinator plant? Also can we polinate with other flower of the same plant?
Hi this is Meena from Bangalore,I made hibiscus cross pollination 42 days back . Finally I am succeeded.I got ten seeds in one seed pod.So now I have a doubt,! When is the right time to sow?
Can you please tell, that while tying the flower with a thread, is it important to cover the stigma with petals as well? What if the petals are small and unable to cover them..
Few doubts sir. This can be done only on hybrid hibuscus plants? Can we collect polen grains from desi hibiscus and cross pollinate them on hybrid hibiscus?
how do i prevent the seed pods falling off the plant before they become big? Mine falls off while they are still small. Never become as large as yours.
Great video. I bought some hibiscus plants on clearance. But I won't be planting them as of yet because I bought them to take to our new home. Can I grow them indoors for the winter and keep them alive without pollenating them?
Let me just say i just yesterday picked up 5 hibiscus flowers and turned them into a Block of ice and i wonder what those red things on the top of the center part
OMG i tried it and it worked!! I dont know what kind of plant i use but did take 2 from my moms flower pots and the results are amazing!

Hi this is Meena from Bangalore,I made hibiscus cross pollination 42 days back . Finally I am succeeded.I got ten seeds in one seed pod.So now I have a doubt,! When is the right time to sow?
Start indoors and keep the soil moist. A small grow light would be ideal to keep the seedlings in a safe environment.
Inspiring vedio dear! Interested to see these new breeded plants & its
flower form. 😊
Yellow one was very beautiful
Can you please tell, that while tying the flower with a thread, is it important to cover the stigma with petals as well? What if the petals are small and unable to cover them..
if you find out please tell me too! my painted lady hibiscus stigma sticks out far past the petals. do I have to wrap string around it?
Very nice video thanks

Why close the petals after hand pollination? Is it prevent some pollens from being blown away by strong winds?

Sir which is the best Fertilizer I can use to promote blooming of flower ?
Use DAP and super phosphate
For example if I get pollen from a red hibiscus and put it on a yellow hibiscus, will the result be seeds that produce an orange hibiscus?
We can not predict the colour 💐
Can we do it with to fresh F1 flowers?
Take hyprid from 2 hyprid petunie or it has to be not hyprid flowers?
As well as geraniums
