Oh my gosh Barry. I literally jumped off the couch and screamed. Scared my husband 🥴. I thought I might have noticed at least one of the sewing machine drawers I sent but wasn’t sure until I saw that you actually engraved I little piece of wood with my name on it 🥹and put it inside the drawer. What an honor. You are thee best story teller and a wonderful craftsman. I bet your dad is so proud. I always look forward to your videos. Thank you for all that is involved with posting this great content. 🇺🇸❤️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Had just come from a funeral. Great guy who had a successful operation after living with great pain on his spine, but got infected, killed him in days. Found he had been a boy scout leader, helping many who had needed a father figure, while losing his own Dad as an infant. Then had two sons who spoke for his meaningful life. What I am saying is that what you do is like this healing man. Using bits from all over to make something real and useful and lovingly. We all heal things differently. Thank you for making my day pull together. Pennsylvania,( Penn's Woods)

I donated blood for many years until I told the Red Cross that I felt dizzy on my way home. So that put the kybosh on that! So now I have registered to donate my body to the medicine dept of the Melbourne University when I go. Hubby’s not too keen on it, but none-the-less it’s organised! Or, if the organs are any good (I’m 71 now) they can divvy them up as required! I’ll be dead, after all! I just want to help someone who needs help!

Barry! I love the maker's mark on top, I love that you labeled the furniture pieces, I love that you put your own little story on the piece. One day, 150 years from now, someone will find this on the curb, take it home to restore, and find you there. It'll be like a little kinship, and you will go on. BTW, the piece turned out beautifully.

Spending time with your father is really important, I lost my father in 2004 and to this day I miss him so much. He was strict when us kids were growing up, he knew what he wanted after World War II and went into business himself and grew that business and passed it on to us kids. Now his kids are all retired and no parents around and I’d give anything to have those days back.

That turned out fantastic, Barry! Using the sewing machine base, combined with the sewing machine drawers, really tied it all together wonderfully! You have more creativity than you give yourself credit. You're able to see the possibilities of the pieces you have, then make it happen. Putting lables on each piece, to distinguish where each one originated, was a great touch, too! Each piece still has its own story, yet they all came together as one story that will continue. Splendid job!

I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Very creative visioning to reuse and repurpose that dresser which most would have put in a burn pile. Using the ‘Lane’ label on the top, as well as labeling where other pieces had originated nicely highlighted the diverse history behind the piece, creating its own story in the process. I have used the old iron sewing machine treadles myself on a couple of occasions for table bases, which I resold. The finished piece I view almost as folk art. Great work!!

I love what you’ve done with all these pieces and I think you’ve sold yourself a little short here. To make a useable and practical cabinet from all those bits and pieces, and for it to look attractive, as it indeed does, is no picnic in the park. It takes a lot of time and skill. I love that you have respected each piece, dating and mentioning their origin. That is what makes you so special Barry, your respect and passion for even the dreariest piece of furniture. Someone made it at one time, worked to create it, and you have saved that memory. Well done on your creation and thank you for your channel, long may it continue. I look forward to the next chapter of your story Barry xxxx

It's a wonderful piece! Your creativity hits it out of the park again! Well done!
You made me smile when you opened the drawer with the baby food jars with hardware in them. My grandfather had a workshop in his basement, and in one of the overhead beams in that workshop, he had nailed the baby food jar tops into it, than used them to store his nails, screws, little bits & pieces, & screwed the jars into the tops, storing them overhead, but always in reach. As a child I was fascinated by his storage system. It's a happy memory for me. Thank you!

I learned to sew on my auntie's singer treadle and she gave it to me.... I used it for years and made many outfits for myself and relatives. The best machine to learn on, you can go as slowly as needed although eventually I could pedal like the wind!!!

Barry: this fabulous creative piece of furniture that you designed is a masterpiece. Outstanding! Being an interior designer and actually having the same Singer Sewing base sitting in my living room as a console table, was quite a delightful experience for me. The sewing machine was my Mother’s first machine. (I have a 48” w, 3/4” glass sitting on top of the base.) It has served me well over the years. This was a wonderful video showing the viewers how, and why recycling can be and should be done.
    Just brilliant! Carol from California

That turned out a lot better than i thought it would. You have to let slip every now and again because its your hobby and cant always be about the customer.

Yes Barry, by all means ... please spend time with your dad. For all of those out here, who no longer can. This was a great be it quirky project. I can even see another custom ornate box to hold your assorted woodworking books mounted to the foot peddle of the treadle.

I must admit I was very skeptical of the mix and match woods and drawers but it looks absolutely beautiful

Well. You said it would stay in your shop a long time and would make you smile. You made me smile seeing the finished work. You had a vision of what you wanted this to be (I, of course, couldn't picture it). Thank You for sharing your vision in finished form. You are a constant in my UA-cam line up and hope you stay that way - a long time. Just an aside: your subscribers have really, REALLY! grown. Congratulations!

This was a lovely video to watch on 10-28-2024. You are on the verge of your first 100K subscribers. May you continue to grow in all aspects. Thank for a wonderful story and a beautiful piece of furniture.

Fascinating! This opens up a whole new realm for repurposing furniture. I quite like your Singer storage cabinet with the treadle bottom! Did you fix the treadle so it wouldn't move or is it still "treadable"?
