I checked 3 times, she just said she's 26, but moved to Cali in 2011, she would have been 13 then.?.? The math isn't mathing!!!
She also said her eldest daughter is 18....
@@forplexforplex8831 crazy, maybe she ment 46???
and her daughter is 18 so the math doesn't add. I'm going to say 36
I agree, I think she meant 36 cause I was shocked when she said 26
She’s at least 40
Great interview! The stories about recovery are always refreshing. It makes me a lot more hopeful that others who have lost their way can find it again.
I love the part about recognizing miracles in birth and seeing her midwife-mother’s role in those miracles, all when the elder of her fiancé’s church was trying to demean women and their place in the world and in God. That was wisdom!
My heart is breaking. My twin and I were abused growing up and we handled our trauma very differently. When the bishop of our ward was told about the abuse he said "Keep coming to church and read the Book of Mormon. You'll be fine".
There is so much more to say but her statement about her and her sister is heartbreaking to me.
Good god .....❤ 😢
Some things that happen to us never leave our mind. BUT! God in His Grace and Mercy commands we forgive. It is hard but we must do it. Stay strong!
@@choward5430 Nope, no forgiveness here. Why is it when people commit really horrible acts the victims are expected to be forgiving? Forgiveness is not what most people think it is. Grieving, bring angry and spiteful about the event is normal and human. (last time I checked we aren't robots)
Forgiveness is doing your level best to not allow the anger, hate, and unfairness of it all to eat you alive.
It's taking your power back from the person/people who took it.
Now, if God helps you get there more power to you.
I'll give you this. I don't hate my abuser or the absolute idiots who traumatised me further by pushing what happened under the carpet just so they didn't have to help me.
So, no. God played no role in protecting the child or comforting the adult. I did the work to heal. I did the years of therapy and worked my butt off to have healthy relationships in my life. To this day I have not forgiven the people involved because they don't deserve to be let off the hook.
@choward leave it up to god if he or she wants to forgive. But as a psychologist I think forgiveness is overrated. What is needed in time is letting go of the power it has over you to whatever degree you can. And the way of that may differ for people. For some it means not having resentment continuing to drive you. For some it's finally just saying "f**k off".
@tish, well said!
There are people who want to tell a story and then there are people who want to hear and see themselves tell a story.
I don't know which one this is.
The latter, for sure.
Yeah, I’m not buying this one. Something seems very off. I’ve listened to hundreds of SWU interviews and dozens more about fundamentalist religions/cults/high control groups and this one isn’t adding up. Like what do the Branch Davidians have to do with fundamentalist Mormons? Her story doesn’t add up.
@@faitdebeauxreve What I thought too. She put a bunch of stuff together that doesn't add up at all.
Hello everyone and especially Mark, I really appreciate all of your videos, even though I do not have time to see all of them, stay safe and peace, never stop ❤
These sick cults should be banned!
I don't like the Democrats either but banning?
I’m not disagreeing with your point but america was first settled and founded because people from europe wanted religious freedom.
@@aidanlynn This is why America is so horrendously messed up...
First and foremost, America was never founded! It was stollen! Secondly, cults of any kind should indeed be banned/ against the law! By not doing so is brainwashing people to think these sick behaviors are ok!

Branch Davidian- just hearing that is frightening. She has suffered trauma -lots of trauma! I am sorry for her suffering. I wish her a much peace and hope she can find relief from her traumatic past. 🌷🌷🌷
The branch davidians were were Flds? I only know of the Waco, Texas group and thought they were Seventh Day Adventists??
I had an aunt and her husband joined the branches in South Carolina. My dad always hated the shit out of it.
@@stacitowery4461You thought right, they are Seventh Day Adventists, not Mormons.
Yeah, only thing is, branch davidian was some weird, off the wall seventh day Adventist sect. It wasnt mormon. That made me wonder about the whole thing.
The only truth she told was having a weak father and an evil mother.
I also grew up Mormon. My dad signed his parental rights away when I was 16 because I got my lip pierced. It’s such a cult.

26? She moved to California in 2011 to start a new life and not go to prison at 13?
I thought the same thing.
That and the mention of MySpace. Is that like 2001?
She mentioned before that she lost her virginity when she meet her boyfriend. Weirdy enough i think she says she is 26 pretending the rest of the years never happened
She's nothing but a bunch of LIES.
Wait, her oldest is 18, and she’s 26? The math isn’t adding up…
Yes, I am very confused by that.
Yeah and in 2011 the judge forgave her and let her move to California.. 13 years ago so when she was 13? Very confusing.
She had her daughter when she was 8? Uhh....no. I hope she's not taking advantage with a fake story.
Its all lies she is mentally ill and telling a grandiose story. Mark doesnt care he falls for all of it😂
She might’ve said 26 by accident and maybe meant 36 or something, who knows
Thank you for sharing your story. Very inspiring and showing the strength in trusting the process.
Thanks Mark I very much appreciate this video. It's wonderful to be able to see how others live and survive against the life they were brought into.
Another morning of crying for strangers on the internet. What a great, sad, powerful, intricate, overcoming story. Life isn’t linear and it’s hard to pick yourself up, but she seems to be doing a great job. Proud of you ❤

I just said the exact same thing.
@@stacitowery4461 I think this woman just wants to be in the limelight so she can meet men and feed her sex addiction. This was a weird story and I think the Mormon thing was her way to get an interview. She’s not a Mormon.

Thanks Mark for another awesome video and viewpoint.
What a remarkable and courageous young woman. Thank you for sharing your/her experiences. So much self-generated strength and fortitude - what a relief the judge recognised this at a pivotal moment.
She lied throughout the whole thing. Her dates and ages dont add up and brsnch davidian was nowhere neat being mormon. She wouldn't have made that mistake , not about the shes dhe mentions.
He must have paid her to do this.
Everybody loves a church sexual scandal story
I've watched so many of your videos, but this one has me sobbing ....... very moving. The trauma this woman went through and is still dealing with is horrific. What an amazing person she is to be so articulate - regards from Australia
I’m still stuck on the missionaries in the 2 bedroom trailer with at least 4 adults and 3 kids.
So many people think that fundamentalist Mormon offshoots are the same as mainstream Mormonism. However, while I do think mainstream Mormonism is a bit cultish , it's the offshoots that are very abusive to women and children, especially. The book 'Under the Banner of Heaven ' is an excellent read on the subject. And Stephanie, thank you for sharing your story and I wish you a peaceful and serene future .
Thank you for clarifying. I was going to comment as well. My family on my grandfathers side is Mormon. We descend from Henry Miller. He was instrumental in The Mormon Trail that brought Mormons persecuted in the Midwest to Utah. My great great grandfather had four wives. This was before the church denounced polygamy. The church was very strict about how many wifes you could have. You had to be able to support all in their different households. They were very stoic people. Hardworking farmers. Much of polygamy was rooted in practicality. Much like many farmers of the day having 13 kids by one wife. The mainstream Mormons are very nice people. Also the Missionaries don't stay in peoples houses. My cousins were Missionaries. They mostly visit people on the Mormon registry like my grandfather was. Always nice and polite and never pushy. I always talk to them when I see them. All of them stay at an apartment or house rented by the church. Not saying they are all angels because anyone can be corrupt but I think they are easy target for a bad rap.
Wait… she said she was 26 and has an almost 18-yr-old? I’m confused about the math
How in the heck is a her daughter almost 18 and the mom is 26.
It's called a mistake. She's 36.
@@petrasworld913
It's called _a lie._ No-one gets confused on their own age.
Parts of her story might be true, but the math is so bad it’s hard to take anything seriously. She’s 26, her daughter is in high school…even if daughter is 15 (freshman age), that means she had her when she was 11. But she said she was working and had a stable life when she was born…at age 11? Her mention of MySpace is also weird. Not a single person I know born in 1996 has used MySpace.
Her timeline definitely isn't adding up but...my daughter (born in '97) went behind my back and made a MySpace page when she was about 11. There were definitely kids on MySpace until it fell off around '09.
Looks like this story that shes telling is not truthful 100% The ages as well as the years dont match up at all.
She's been through a lot and she was nervous. It's not that she wasn't truthful, she was inaccurate.
@@petrasworld913
I'm sorry, but YOUR OWN AGE isn't something you get mixed up on. I can see getting tongue-tied from nerves, or leaving out a piece of a story and having to backtrack, but you don't get mixed up on your own age.
She's dressed in skin-tight clothing, knowing full-well there will be a slow pan down her entire body during this video, blue hair, and you think she misspoke? She's insecure about aging and thinks she's got enough to fool Mark's audience of millions.
Hopefully she misspoke when she said she’s 26.
Her daughter is 18 so that would make her about 37 or 38+.
@christophershelton1735
She lied. Then again, it's super easy to get mixed up on one's own age.
@christophershelton1735
She lied. Then again, it's super easy to get mixed up on one's own age.
I don’t buy that she was raised fundamentalist. I was raised Mormon and when you hear a fundamentalist speak. They know their stuff about the religion and the structure. They indoctrinate kids with that their whole lives. So the fact she can’t recall the leadership and doctrines makes her sound like she’s just making it up on the fly. She knows Mormonism things but she’s not making a lot of connections that she should if she were actually raised the way she said she was. And alot of her timelines don’t match up either as far as her age goes.
There's something very odd about her entire interview.
Its called larping.
@@vonderloo3184hmm
Exactly. Branch davidian is a 7yh day Adventist offshoot. Has nothing to do with mormons. Maybe shes still on drugs and he's paying her to make up a story. I dont know, but shes obviously making stuff up. Even the tears.
Right? She also mentions living amongst branch davidians, which are not mormon nor any branch off of mormons. And her description of conference 'every couple of months,' is odd, although she's flds, so maybe they did it differently than the mainstream lds faith. She also mentions a lot of molestation, so I'm wondering if her particular family and group of flds were just whack.
I'm confused, she said she was 26 ? And her oldest daughter is almost 18?
So much in such a young life!
It’s super sketch that 9 PEOPLE, 5 being CHILDREN are ALL living in a TWO bedroom trailer AND there’s missionaries staying in that same trailer MOLESTING the children??!!! What the heck??!?! How horrific and just so debased!!!!
Yeah, it's almost like it never happened. You know, like she made it up 😂
@@GenXstackernah this part is actually believable. those things happen. kids get molested in front of their parents and they don’t do shit; denial can be that strong
She is CLEARLY lying about ages and dates in the last part of the vid. She has credibility issues and I'd like to hear the other side of the story.
I wonder if it’s self preservation
Do you have any idea the results of severe trauma and PTSD? It can completely dissociate you, mess with your mental, physical and emotional processes. I certainly don't know this woman or what her truth is, but to call her a liar in the midst of discussing something like this is exactly what keeps people from coming forward
"She's almost 18"....also "How old are you" .. "I am 26 years old". The math ain't mathin'

@@grant4176 If someone asks me my age, I'm not telling them 10 years younger. It casts a bad shadow on the rest of her story when she can't keep a simple thing like her age straight. The person being interviewed is the one that needs to use common sense, a) don't tell a ridiculous lie.
@@kimthompson3846 Hey Kim...I challenge you to go thru a horrific abusive childhood plus a controlling young adulthood coupled with abusive husband and useless support from parents THEN pluck up the courage to tell your story after being abused for decades on top of having issues and diagnoses...then getting in the SPOTLIGHT and telling your story to the world FOR THE FIRST TIME in this kind of format!!

Of course, anyone would be able to fire off their correct age if not in the spotlight and camcorder!
Tell me something...what reason would it benefit her to LIE about her age??? TELL ME! What f*cking reason would she have to lie about her age???????? She is a very smart woman. She knows how to add and subtract. She has her own biz even!!! So you give me ONE GOOD REASON WHY it would help her story to say she had her first kid at 8 YEARS OLD??? @@kimthompson3846You don't think her past trauma may have affected her mentally a little to where she mixes up numbers? Pair that with the fact that she's telling her traumatic story while being filmed for everyone to see (who wouldn't be a little nervous and/or besides themself) and it isn't really surprising or 'proof that she's lying' when she says she's 26 (with her being actually 36, the rest of her story makes a lot more sense as well). Maybe you should make some use of that common sense you are talking about.
Thanks Mark.
I don’t understand the math. She said she’s 26 but her oldest is 18 and the youngest is 11. That would make Stephanie 7 or 8 when she got pregnant the first time. Doesn’t add up. I lived in Utah for 20+ years and went through St. George several times. Luckily I never experienced this.

I’m from Las Vegas Nevada. I grew up hunting a lot of those creepy towns the FLDS live in. Some of the compounds are so freaky and You’ll just pull up to a huge compound literally in the middle of nowhere on the Nevada/ Utah border. It’s crazy that people even live out there if You could see the size of these houses in the literal middle of nowhere. There is a whole network of compounds spattered along the countryside on the Nevada/UT border. I was always intrigued by these ppl because of how truly remote and isolated they are. I can see for a young girl like Her going through it. It would be almost impossible to escape due to how isolated they are. You wouldn’t think this stuff goes on in such a free country such as the US but these people are literally enslaved and even Kidnapped in a way. And for those of You that don’t think it’s still a thing or that these places still don’t Exist. I Can promise You that they do in the middle of nowhere in eastern Nv/ Western UT.
Sad stuff, I hope She stays clean, and can get the help She needs.Their idea of who Jesus was and what the Churches ⛪️ role truly is, is so flawed, and anyone who would do that to kids & women had a special place in Hell.
Prayers up for this lady 🙏🏼
I read a book once titled, Under the Banner of Heaven by Jon Krakauer. Discussing the fundamentalism in the Mormon Faith.
You’re 26? With an almost 18 year old daughter? And the judge told you to move to Cali in 2011, at age 13? Please address this.
She probably meant 36. She was really anxious at a few points in this
She's 36. Give her a break. It was a tough interview.
These people are so brave ❤️
My first love was also someone I met when I was in high school and he met the world to me. We got engaged. I’m so glad that I did not get pregnant, because perhaps there would’ve been a lot more parallels in our stories. The relationship had a killing blow, and not the same way, but it wasn’t out of the blue betrayal.
Stephanie, you did the best you could. i’m so glad you’re doing better. you are ABOVE your trauma ❤
I'm reminded of what Christopher Hitchens use to say about religion, and it was one of her first comments. It's based on fear. It's a terrible thing to instill fear in young children.
I'm happy for you. Never give up ❤❤❤
The section on the bullying concerning her breast’s is especially disturbing. Reflected my memories of some teachers not being adults and often emotionally immature enablers of the worst student behavior. I realize as I say this that teachers get dumped on them the damage from the family, etc. and are often a mess from their similar “educational “ pasts. But teachers asking to see her breasts? That is reprehensible.
Thanks for this interview., Stephanie and Mark💫
From the mention of a big group in St. George, UT, a temple in Modena and "Brother Jerry" it would seem that she was part of the "Righteous Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints."
Super interesting

Thank you for being so utterly brave. I feel like I just listened to my life growing up 9th gen. LDS in Sandy, UT. & yes.....URAH MORMONS are a different breed ans an entire other kind of messed up.
She's so awesome!!! Everyone thinks FLDS culture is like Big Love and Sisters Wives. So not true!!! Having grown in Vegas among many Mormons, we all grew up (in the 50's, 60's and 70's) knowing that this alternative culture was horrendous for women and children.
Wow. What a harrowing story of religious abuse all throughout your young life. I can’t believe you are only 26. You are an incredible mother to have rebuilt that relationship with your older daughter under the continued pressures of that religion and their hold over her. Your story of perseverance is inspiring. I wish I could hire you to come help me organize my home! You have a beautiful energy! . It was heartening to hear that a judge saw the whole situation and gave you the opportunity to go get the help you needed to heal. All my best to you!
So her brother was born when her mom was 15, her mom met her dad when her mom was out at the bar at age 15, her mom had her at age 16, and her dad was in the military and sold sewing machines?

Very sweet and well spoken lady. So sad what happened to her and other children ...and hearing how it effected her personally. When she was describing the abuse by the half circle of men and said "I got a really dark feeling," I got shivers...shutter to think what it must have felt like to be so vulnerable. I wonder why she lied about her age. She said her oldest daughter is 18…so she would have been 8 years old pregnant?? Hmm nooo, not adding up.
Her father got tricked into believing that her mother was of age. Same thing happened to me. I was 19 and some under aged girls snuck their way into the 18+ club with fake ID's. One of them showed cristal clear interest in me and kept coming back to dance with me the whole night. Ended up in "her place" after partying that night. Was obviously her parents home but still no reason to think that she's a minor because more than enough people who are 18+ still hang around at the parents house for whatever personal reasons, including me at that time. Parents were out of the city in their 'vacation second home'. Next morning I overheard the girls talk in the livingroom...'does he know' 'did you tell him' 'are you going to tell him' etc etc. My heart skipped a beat because I thought her parents or something just came back home and there's no way for me to make an escape. Anyway, I got a text from one of her girlfriends telling me, you know she's not even 18 right? Never been so scared in my life before on that day.
To think that in these situations, these scenes...the men still get faulted for it and the "women" the GIRLS get off and laugh about it. I'm an average Joe who is doing okay enough in life but let's say I was on my way to an very successful career like sports, musician, politics and or acting. There's no proof that THAT happened (2003) but still she can come out with the me-too card 10 years into my career like "he's a pedophile".
You're a paedophile
So did youcend up in courf?
@@celticwarrior777 no, I didn't because I'm an average Joe so there was no reason for a light bulb to go off in her head like 'I can make me some money'. And later at that time I got to know from one of her friends that she wouldn't do or say anything about it because she had very very Amish level strict and highly religious parents. The amount of trouble she would have gotten into back home weighted heavier than what the court would do to me. Again, there was no proof that it happened. This was a time before internet and smart mobile phones.

We have a lot of parallels in our stories. I grew up protestant and Baptist. She's not on Skid Row. Not everyone he interviews is homeless. She is a business owner and doing well.
@@mrs.beasley1979 i know. my point is that she's one of the less honest
Her oldest daughter is nearly 18, but she is 26. Can someone fact check her age? I would hate for a legitimate life experience to be shared but many not believe her because of her hopefully misspeaking her age.
They should ALL spend the rest of their lives in prison!!!!
Thank-you so much for this facinating story. Horrible, but its super informative to those of us who have not lived as Morman.
I understand this woman,The pain is deep…
I met a Mormon girl in Utah. The sex thing in that church. Let’s just say it’s wild.
My best friend growing up was Morman
Amazing family but looking back…Wow
I thought she was older than 26 ....even in her manner
Shes not 26
What an amazing story! She's pretty young, yet speaks so well and has such a mature, beautiful presence. And I love the lesson, I feel like it sums her story up so well.
