    Thank you so much for this. I impulsively took down my large starter locs and did micro ones lol. It was so hard for me to let go of my loose natural hair but I also wanted locs. Microlocs solved that for me, best of both worlds.

      In all of my Loc journeys and trying out different starter methods, this Microloc journey is my most favorite so far!

      @DavidJaysWay I wanna see more men's and guys get into micro locs they so cute to me I love small or thin locs tbh I think it's cute

      Thank you!! I think would be really neat. For so long, tiny locs have been thought to be “feminine” or emasculating and I don’t feel that way at all. I guess everyone has their own opinion, but the men I have seen with microlocs besides myself all looked amazing.

    I instant locked my loose natural hair and added loc Extensions and they total 4 feet in length the diameter is 1/4 of an inch. I made them as small as I possibly could with the crochet needle 5 mm. I noticed at first they were swelling and condensing when they dried. Now it appears that my loc’s have condensed down to about half their beginning size due in part because I braid them tightly while wet so they will have a strong textured pattern when they dry in the morning. The smaller size is exactly what I want. Do I have very small traditional loc’s or are they large micro loc’s? My loc’s are only fuzzy at the one inch of new growth at the roots that I 2 point interlock at the end of each month which is too short to instant loc so close to my scalp. No grid; don’t like scalp showing.
    Locked January 2022, excited and loving having Loc’s! The compliments are great!

      The compliments are most definitely great that come on a regular basis!
      I don’t know that there is an official size chart so I think it is totally your decision if you want to classify your locs as large microlocs or small traditional locs. I love that you went so long from day one!!

    I have high top locs I started after 4 years of hair growth I'm 2 months in there to the ends of my ears I'm a year in your opinion how long do you think my locs will be

    • @DavidJaysWay
      @DavidJaysWay  2 роки тому +1

      I feel like your locs will probably spend a few months shrinking. Especially since you started with longer hair, your shrinkage will be very noticeable, but after a year, I would think that you will have gained that length back and surpassed your starting point by a couple of inches. But year two is probably when you’ll start to see your loc growth take off!

    Did u had to comb out you’re traditional locs ?

    • @DavidJaysWay
      @DavidJaysWay  Рік тому +1

      I did only because I wanted to keep my hair and not have to start from scratch when growing it out.

    How did you get your traditional locs out before getting micro locs

    • @DavidJaysWay
      @DavidJaysWay  Рік тому +1

      I have always combed my locs out using lots of conditioner and a rat tail comb

      Yeah I think each Loc took me about 1 1/2 to 2 hours to comb out in the beginning and by the end I had it down to about 45 minutes per Loc 😳

    i have traditional locs atm. i have been growing them for nearly 3 yrs now and they are up to my collarbone. however i am not really 100% satisfied. im considering transitioning from T-locs to micro/sisterlocs. ive always wanted sisterlocs/microlocs for a long time becaus i like how clean and neat they look even when you don't retwist them, how they have the appearance of loose natural hair and how versatile they are. but i got traditional locs instead because i wasnt able to afford getting microlocs at that time AANND the hairstylist was like "nah, u cant get sisterlocs, get normal locs instead" i was a little disappointed but i was like meh whatever.
    i don't mind having traditional locs just so as long i didn't have to have the trouble of excess shedding and always having to do my hair 24/7 while struggling to grow my hair when it was not locked.
    My loose natural hair before getting trad-locs was already damaged asf because of a lifetime of relaxers and stuff and i had bald spots and exposed edges at 17 yrs old. my mother was so ignorant about hair in general because she kept on insisting that i should relax my hair every month without knowing the consequences of wat it had done to my hair and 80% of all my hair fell out. my mother assumed it's because i was cutting my hair too much which i never do.
    now, i really like wearing bangs a lot but i cant really do bangs with my traditional locs esspecially because of how thick they are. and so, bangs with my traditional locs imo just looks funny and the bangs would be too thick. but at least when i get microlocs, i can easily have bangs and do whatever kind of hairstyle that pleases me.
    but the decision to now comb out my traditional locs to get microlocs is ganna be such a painful one. i spent all this time to grow my traditional locs and now i have to go and restart all over again. i have been so stressed about it. it's like im starting from 0 and getting back to having really short hair all over again. im getting too old for this

    • @DavidJaysWay
      @DavidJaysWay  Рік тому +1

      Yeah that’s a lot to unpack from the lifetime of perms to now wanting to transition but having to comb out and reinstall microlocs. It’s is a whole lot, but if microlocs is something that you’ve wanted to do then I think it will be 100% worth it and you won’t regret the decision once your install is finished! 🙌🏾✨
