Terribly underrated vehicle. Not only was it affordable, but it packed tons of play value into a small, strongly sci-fi looking vehicle that you could imagine had lots more potential than any real world equivalent ever would. Great review HCC788!
Funny story about this vehicle with an OOF ending. This past summer my family was driving out of town to visit this place with working miniature trains people could ride on, and on the way we found an antique store with a Locust in it. My dad pointed it out to me and I bought with my own money. It missing the landing struts and two of the four bombs, but I didn't care. A few months afterwards in September (I think) my dad took me and my sister out for a one-night camping trip, and the peg holding the propeller to the body broke when my dad of all people ran it over with a big RC car. Yes a PARENT broke a vintage toy belonging to a KID... So now thing's in repair limbo...
You said it best. Not every parent could buy the best vehicles. Thanks for doing this review and understanding money $$$$$$. I still had a great GI Joe childhood thanks to my parents.
magnificentfungizoids yes. I just got this a month ago in a box with 2 other Joe vehicles, about 6 Joe figures, some silver hawk figures and 8 other random figures all for $20.
I love this vehicle, it is small, fast, cool and not-neon. It's important for vehicles not to be neon at the 90s, because.... they won't suck. Like the Eco-Warriors' H.I.S.S Tank.
Fun, I look forward to it. Also, I have been looking at some of the 90's joes and I feel bad for completionists. I tend to just do a rather large personal favorites intead of completion, I wish you well in that and I pity you when you get to some of these 90's toys. Good luck, U.P. 833
I would have loved this as a kid! This the Triple T, and a Devil Fish would have been my complete assault force!lol A "fix" to the gun turrets being loose and the tail rotor being loose is wrapping where the part connects to the vehicle with elastic thread. I got this trick from Toy Polloi' s channel for loose arms on Star Wars figures! Hope it helps, if you even read this, and thanks for the videos!
The should have done this with the Firebat. Include one with a large playset/vehicle, then sell a stand alone one for those who can't afford the larger playset, but still want a smaller, army builder vehicle. I'm not counting the mail-away Firebat since that came out years later. This came out after I was done with toys, so I do not really have any memories of it.
You're right. The Firebat would have worked very well as a separate stand-alone vehicle. I was out of G.I. Joe by the time the Locust came out, so I didn't know about it back then, either.
I liked this review! Could we suggest to hasbro to make a re-molding with an elongated tail rotor, such a simple modification would take this vehicle to a whole new level (perhaps also making the dreadnok with a real back seat, then placing the fictitious jet engine on the roof rack),,, in fact there are probably at least 6-7 vehicles for both Joe's and Cobra which could be benefited in the same way! Let's add vehicles that already make the grade such as: tomahawk, rattler, stinger, and conquest x-30... let's also call these 18 re-releases "HCC 788 series"... well, what you guys think of it? Huh?
Hello ! Who take missiles close to engines ? This small " Egg thing " reminded me MR 22 Roberson or small Little Nelly , ( But no Little Nelly is close to Fang helicopter from Bond movie . ) Maybe these missiles are additional bombs some like additional HOT missile storage inside BO 105 ? For me it's more logic ...
Really enjoyed the review! The outtakes are classic! You had mentioned the General, but you still have not completed a review on that vehicle/playset thing? Is it on your agenda to review?
even though I did nt have enough money to army build joes vehicles then, I agree with you that driverless vehicles were good to have many, like the action posts, with the cobra bunker, or joe s missile post.
What's wrong with Dorf doing GI Joe reviews. That would be neat to see. Now the image of you as mermaidman is forever etched into my brain. One small thing, when you compaired the locust to the fang, you said dragonfly. the locust was one of those that i easily passed on, just never caught my eye. another great review overall. 3rd week in a row with the ghost girl. i'm guessing you are going to review the phantom with ghostrider soon.
i totally understand what they were going for here, but honestly i can't give the locust a pass tho. Much props for making it an aerial platform for BOMBING and anti-personal/vehicle copter (with some anti air capacity as well)..i like this highly aggressive attack orientated aspect of the vehicle..but the overall shape of the vehicle just kills it. it feels very incomplete and way too much like a blue egg. This would have been an AWESOME front end for a much larger gunship IMHO. Still as a budget toy...i begrudgingly commend the logic behind this toy, its just that i wish the design had a bit more follow thru.
I think the egg feel might have had to do with how bulky the later generation figures' chests were, thus necessitating a larger canopy to fit them. I don't have my old toys anymore, but I feel like the torsos where the characters couldn't put their arms down all the way wouldn't properly fit into the Skystriker or Dragonfly canopies, which were the nice, sleek vehicles. Just be glad it's not dayglow green, like most toys of that era.
I can't believe Susan blew up your Dragonfly Helicopter. I hope you have good insurance on it and you can get it fixed. She does know they don't make those anymore, right? Another stellar review. Loved how you tied in the Dragonfly review. Great work on your special effects.

I like the old toy commercials being added to the reviews.
This was my helicopter for my joes as a kid. It's definitely a top tier vehicle.
Great times! Really enjoyed the video and acting by yall two!😎🍻
I just picked one of these up online a week or so ago. Cool vehicle.
Good timing!

HCC: I like how you are using your family more in the videos, great job.
Thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying it. They're having fun helping out.
@@HCC788 Use your cat too :)
HCC788, thanks for being your terrific insane self! Awesome
Thank you!
I found it awesome when you review 90s GI Joe toys that's the era that I grew up with.
Best reviews ever. Theyre detailed, factual, comedic, and the skits are great! Keep it up!
Thank you! I'll do the best I can!
I had forgotten the Tim Conway references at the end of this video until I rewatched it today. RIP Tim.
I love this vehicle, it is small, fast, cool and not-neon. It's important for vehicles not to be neon at the 90s, because.... they won't suck.
Like the Eco-Warriors' H.I.S.S Tank.
You're saying there's something wrong with the Septic Tank?
HoodedCobraCommander788 No, not something. The whole thing. Only Lobotomaxx would want to drive that vehicle.
Actually, it's not a bad idea.
I think for next superbowl you should review gridiron.
Love the videos keep it up :)
Thank you! Next year I'll try to do something football themed for Super Bowl weekend.
Fun, I look forward to it.

HoodedCobraCommander788 The Fridge would work well for next years Super Bowl theme. I would love to see you and Susan do the Super Bowl Shuffle.
@@TroySmith25 Bear in mind that The Fridge and the Superbowl Shuffle are a bit of a sore spot for Patriots fans... ;-)
Looking forward to the review of the general.
Me, too! I just have to get one first!
Totally decent copter. and You're getting better!
Thanks! I'm tryin'.
HoodedCobraCommander788 Well, in this video you were flyin' as well as Mrs. HCC788!
Great review! This is one vehicle I've never had. Your wife is doing a great job too!
Thank you! She's been enjoying her role in the videos.
Great vehicle! It was cheap enough to buy it in multiples.
The Joes are all about saving taxpayer money.
Just kidding. No they're not. They have a space shuttle.
Go ahead and sue me, but I'd throw this in the top tier - best 90s vehicle in my opinion, alongside, or possibly second to the Hammer

loved the mid size to small vehicles. so much fun and easy to handle

WACHCC- Wild And Crazy Hooded Cobra Commander!
"I had to be Barney Fife."
That was hilarious!
At least she didn't have to be Gomer.
nice work man i never was able to find this one back in the day

the Little Nelly is indeed a very compact aircraft. But I'm thinking it's a bit closer to the Battle Copters. I may refer to it when I review them.
great video.
It was cheaper than most figures in these days of 1990 ...
Thank you for doing this video. I had this vehicle. I had forgotten it's name. I also forgot about the bomb dropping feature... great video.
G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero is the most amazing toy line in history, and I don't think it is really debatable.
I dunno. My Little Pony is pretty good, too. I'm thinking of switching to MPL788.
HoodedCobraCommander788 Yeah, for our daughters. 😁
I get that brand new in 1990.After surviving the dentist lolll
when i kids i had it
Really enjoyed the review! The outtakes are classic! You had mentioned the General, but you still have not completed a review on that vehicle/playset thing? Is it on your agenda to review?
I like small vehicles, but this one was always a bit odd looking to me. I liked the ending of the video though !
Well, it is a helicopter shaped like a goose egg, so I can see why you might find it a bit odd-looking.
When talking about clips, you called Fang "the Dragonfly."
A Tedy Bruschi jersey? You had me before 30 seconds with this vid.
Tedy was my favorite player before he retired.
This particular vehicle looks like a one-man submarine. Trying to customize the one I bought as such.😂😂😂😂😂😂
have you reviewed the super sonic apache or the Destro Dominator helicopter/tank?
I haven't gotten to them yet. I have Destro's Dominator ready for review. Not sure when I will get to it, but it won't be forgotten!
great review of a cool little helicopter
Thank you!
Susan is awesome. I don't know a lot of wives who put themselves into their husbands' hobbies like she does.

you got me slowly collecting again. I bought 86 thunder machine monkeywrench modern baroness and stinger driver. A ohhhh!!

nice Abyssinian!
Good review, but no more "''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''mermaid man"!
I'd put this in the top teir, it's a cracking vehicle and more 'realistic' alternative to the sky hawke.
