The 2000s Yankees averaged a 50% higher payroll than the 2nd highest paid team. The Dodgers would have to be at $450M and second place at $300M for it to be equivalent
Just FYI the deferred money mainly helps the player save on California taxes. It still doesn't come close to the savings they would have by signing in Texas/Florida. The AAV is lower for the CBT, but only saves 400K per year on the AAV. The only massive AAV savings deal is the Ohtani deal. Because he decided to go crazy with it and defer 97% of his contract.
Cali just a better place to live if you can afford it, not the first time and definitely won't be the last a player takes contract in a blue state over a red state even if it means less money overall 🤑

Signing bonuses and deferrals only save on taxes if those players are currently living in a state with lower income taxes or plan to move somewhere with lower taxes. Tommy Edman's family lives in SD. He also currently resides in SD. He's probably still gonna be in California when his deferred money starts paying out. He's not saving on taxes.
I know a majority will absolutely HATE it, from both sides respectively. But I am so damn curious about the aftermath if Dodgers get Sasaski AND Soto. I don't think Soto is coming back out west, but I would love to see the chaos ensue if he does lol.

Probably not quite the same blockbuster signing as Snell, but if there is a type of player Friedman loves, it's a super utility player.
Nah bruh the dodgers are gonna be this generation's version of the Yankees that won so many championships in the past decades

Love it. Dodgers are the king of deferred salaries. Win titles now and get paid later. AWESOME!

Easy to GET THINGS DONE when you're not getting jerked around by Boras.
Dodgers are counting on the upcoming apocalypse so they end up being off the hook for all that deferred money…😂
haha good one. 3-peat before WW3. How about that for a slogan.
