My Redtail Catfish Tank Mates Criteria. Keeping a red tail Catfish is a pretty crazy fish to keep because it’s a vicious predator. When trying to find other fish to keep it within the same tank be very careful. These catfish are known to eat fish three times the size of what you would think it is able to consume. Tank mates for red tail catfish should be chosen very carefully.
