please bro , is *.exr files = HDRI ? and is the way to use them into lumion is as you explained here in this video ?

Thank you so much for the Lumion content. FYI i tried using the HDRI object spheres that you shared in one of your previous videos but the challenge i found was that the polygons or the resoulution to the sphere reduced as i tried to change the base HDRI color map to my custom one. And the result was that the sphere looked less sharp with my HDRI map as i could see the individual polygons of the sphere, plus it created a strange shadow at the sides of the frame with the HDRI (hope what ive typed makes sense) but yeah
and now i am looking forward to using this one. Looks great to my Looks

That is actually an error that I fixed. I am going to make a note of it in the previous videos. FBX files can export with Blender's smooth faces feature which I did not think was previously possible.
If you download the model in the new video it should be fixed!
Thanks for always checking out the videos Mukiibi!

Great video material. Your research has improved my last two works. Now I can download the panorama from Google Street View, and add a real window view to my 3D projects. I also love to experiment, and go beyond the possible.

Phenomenal stuff! Also very much enjoyed the exterior lighting video and will be looking forward to a future night scene to look at the lens flare effect more because I just skimmed past it because I don't need it for my current project :) These videos and the uploaded material is very useful (especially the HDRI sphere because I just wouldn't have gotten to doing it!) It's really difficult working on a laptop where render times are significant and previews not being as accurate you can't be sure what the end result will be...

I know what you mean. My business partner and I are going to be getting an 8K 360 camera at some point so when that happens I will make some HDRI videos so there can be trees blowing in the wind that will cost nothing in render time.
I am happy that you enjoy the video :)

can we use hdri instead of real skies in lumion 8 since I can’t seem to find the feature?

    • @LuminousLabs

I actually didn't make this scene, this is a Lumion 11 example. I chose this one so people could follow along!
I made a video a while back about decals. You could slap decals on there, or you can actually model them in Sketchup (Vali Architects is great for this).

I have a question for you. How is it that you add the lighting inside the buildings. I’ve seen people bring in city models where all the inside lighting looks like in real life. I have figured that one out. Do you have a video that explains that? Also can you critique my Lumion video I posted on my page. I really want to get better with Lumion. Great video by the way.

    • @LuminousLabs

Thanks a lot Ivan! I watched “The Prize” and it was really cool! I think my favourite part was the gate shattering, I didn’t expect to see that in a Lumion render. Cinema4D is not very common with Lumion but I really like how it came out!
Something that might be able to improve the video a bit is giving a bit of moonlight or hyper light at the beginning. I know what you were going for by having it really dark but I think a little bit of brightness will help bring out a bit more details in the scene to hook people in.
As for lighting the buildings quickly, if you have Lumion 11 you can go into the example scene and copy the material (in the material property tab” and then bring its into your file to put on the buildings. TenOver Studio is the one who made the example scene I think, it is not my work. They just used a regular photo of a building exterior since it is passable and very quick.

@@LuminousLabs hey man thank you for your response and critiquing my video. I really appreciate it. I agree with you about the intro to that video. I used heavy fog and I feel like it blocked light from getting through to the point we here it also blocked the light out at the top from casting shadows. I may be wrong about that but I experimented with it and the shadows showed up when I shut fog off. I don’t know. I’ll keep working with it.
I’m actually working on a Lumion music video. Incorporated green screen footage into Lumion clips. I didn’t think it was possible but I’m actually blown away by how good it actually looks. It’s insane.

Not a problem Pietra! I don't know if I mentioned it in the video, but I have 5 HDRIs preloaded into Sketchup you can just import into your scenes. From there you can change it to whatever you want to see!

Please do! Sometimes you have to play around with the images to make it look right but it definitely gives more control. I think I mention it in my video but I also put some up on the Sketchup 3D warehouse that are ready to go.

We should be able to do those things easily with a few clicks from menu yet Lumion developers add new plants instead.

    • @LuminousLabs
      @LuminousLabs  3 роки тому +2

I think adding hdr files can be more complicated, but I do agree it seems like a very important feature that hasn’t been added. I don’t see why there can’t be blank spheres like the one I brought in available right in Lumion.
