    Coming in for a landing at the airport, the pilot warns us of altitude sickness and offers quite a few tips in case you feel dizzy and lightheaded. That’s La Paz. 5000 m or 16,500 fr above sea level. Extreme city. And pretty wonderful.

      te sorprenderá verla irreconocible en instantes, El shock mas grande que tendrá es la masa brutalista que vigila la plaza murillo. El socialismo indigenista con afán de desacreditar la herencia hispana y europea, construyó los nuevos y gigantes templos políticos del país alado de los antiguos, cubriendo sus espaldas como hermanastros mayores, sombríos y autoritarios. Son bellos por sí mismos, pero chocan con el clásico y bello ambiente que tuvo alguna vez la plaza Murillo.

      I live in La Paz and you really should feel grateful to live in the USA. You have a lot of opportunities and access to different options of living. Most of all, you can travel within your country or go to whatever place you want to across the whole continent. The reason is simple, all Latin American economy relies on dollars and I guess that you have plenty. However, not everything is sad and black in my country. We live happiness differently and the only way to learn that is by coming over here. If you come here, take a lot of care cause people here are not naive. Wish you the best.

    • @anso5833
      @anso5833 9 місяців тому

      @@gregrussell7821 Hi, I'm not really sure about the budgeting because I went when I was young, so it was paid for by my parents. I think Santa Cruz is probably more expensive because it is a bigger and more modern city. I went to Arampampa, a city up in the mountains. It isn't expensive there and there is beautiful nature, but there is a lot of poverty there so as a child coming from a Western country it was a very big culture shock. There weren't any hotels available, so we had to sleep with 6 in one bedroom. I don't know if this place is recommended for tourists either since I was told it could get dangerous, but I definitely recommend visiting a city up in the mountains with a native or tour guide because the you have to see the scenery there. I also went to Cochabamba, it's a very big city and there's lots to do there, I think this is maybe in the middle range. Not as expensive as Santa Cruz, but more expensive than Arampampa or any city high up in the mountains for that matter. I suggest you maybe look up more information on this topic, but these are some suggestions. Bolivia is a very beautiful country and I'm happy you get to visit it, definitely try to learn some basic Spanish if you haven't already, I'm sure the Bolivians will love it!

      @PrinceMishkin-qd1cpsi pero ya hay más progreso y menos ladrillo, los Cholets más lujosos de Bolivia están en El Alto y por lo general es una ciudad tranquila aún teniendo a la ceja, en cambio La Paz sigue viendo mucho ladrillo por que a diferencia de El Alto, la gente de La Paz son casi como los cambas, todos flojos y muy corrompidos, en La Paz existen al día muchos accidentes terribles por su mala forma de conducir, sus calles pequeñas y que hablar cuando llueve y se inunda todo, en cambio en El Alto no pasa eso...

    La Paz no se puede considerar una megalópolis. Una megalópolis es una región densamente poblada que comprende múltiples ciudades grandes y áreas urbanas interconectadas, con una población combinada que suele superar los 10 millones de habitantes.

    5:40: many don’t finish building their houses because in Bolivia buildings under construction are not subject to taxes, so people deliberately leave their homes half done to avoid taxes. That’s why it’s a common sight all over the country. It’s surprising that the lady in minute 7:00 says the city didn’t finish the projects to stabilize the soil: where does she think the money for such projects comes from? The taxes she likely never paid.

    El Alto was founded as some kind of spiritual retreat? I thought it was just overspill in a railway yard as people flocked to the cities for work. You live and learn!
