So sad for this stunning actress that she lost out on so many roles. Heartbreaking. Another one of those 90s goddesses I'd wondered often where they'd gone, assuming they'd had children and did not act much anymore.
How sad to see all of these amazing actresses' careers came to an abrupt halt - in Mira's case as an ACADEMY AWARD WINNER! - only because they refused to sleep with the pig Harvey Weinstein.

At least, Peter Jackson acknowledged this. Also, don't forget Rose Mcgowan. She was crucial to the MeToo movement. Also also, Angelina Jolie had a bad experience with Weinstein, never worked with him again and also encouraged others to be careful with him (with that alone, she has my respect).

Correct me if I’m wrong here. Her father is Paul Sorvino. Before acting he was a trained opera singer, fighting his way to get into show biz. During that time he sang at weddings, funerals and such, mostly for fellow NY Italian families. A few likely had last names like Gambino, Genovese, etc.
Didn’t Weinstein ever think, “I should think twice here. This girl’s dad could make a few phone calls...”

As a lifelong, devoted fan of The Lord of the Rings, I believe Mira Sorvino deserves credit for the success of the films, every bit as much as Liv Tyler.
Also, for what it's worth, though I appreciate Liv's performance in the movies, and although she certainly should not be discredited because of Harvey Weinstein's decision to blackball someone else, I think Mira Sorvino would have been perfect in the role.

This is how I feel about missing and murdered Indigenous People- women and girls and also men and boys. I look at this Weinstein truth now, which just happened a few years ago, and how much the culture has changed and how AWFUL it is that SO MANY WOMEN tried to speak out and weren't heard for so long. One day, I want to look back at how ignored the issue of missing Indigenous People is. We need to all turn our eyes towards the issue and work on it.

There needs to be a network of women to compare notes, salaries, treatment, etc to support each other in every profession. Companies also need to be transparent and say the salary they can offer before you apply. Women have been getting paid less, are taught to not ask for more because we’re “replaceable”. We need to also teach boys and girls that we are equal and treat them the same (same opportunities and same consequences) instead of treating girls like little adults.
