Bro just get rid of the Durango, why buy it in the first place
Why buy it? Check out my video “10 great things about my Durango”!!
Durango looks better and sounds better than a shitty subaru
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 i still want one but bruh I literally laughed out loud 🔥🔥🔥🔥
@@MadaraUchiha-gn6lk Dude, not sure if you know what you are talking about... I had two Subaru's and some time ago we bought 2014 Durango. It is not about which one is better. Durango is totally different world. if I didn't need Durango (or another car with similiar parameters), I'd buy a Subaru again.
I was thinking the same bro
If you need to jump it, use the fuse box under the hood. There’s a ground tab on the fender well. And there’s a positive tab on the fuse box under the red cap
He is an idiot, don’t know nothing about Durango
Yep, Dodge provided an easy access to jump it under the hood. The battery life is better without it under the hood. Agree with the R/T logo on the front grille. The Tahoe is big and heavy and has a V8....
Some of these are definitely what I'd call nitpicks and very subjective criticisms. Where I live, I don't want less ground clearance by lowering my vehicle , for example. Additionally, the vast majority of consumers are not going to be lowering their Durango so why would/should Dodge cater to that niche aftermarket mod? It makes no business sense.
If you are concerned about weight and gas mileage, you didn't do your homework before purchase. It's a Durango, which have always been heavy, and you bought one with a thirsty V8, which Durango's have always been guilty of as well (my '98 got around 15 MPG combined, if I was lucky).
And yep, if you put more stuff and people in it, it gets heavier- A problem with a 40 MPG Prius as well.
Overall It seems like you are complaining that the apple you bought doesn't taste like an orange.
The tip on the rear lights is great- nice work.
Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion😁lol
@@AlexsRTLife nah he is staing fact bruh. Learn and keep it pushing
That's good
Exactly mfs hate on dodge i loved my scatpack i knew what i was getting when i bought it its a fucking road monster
I want mine lowered sue me
The reason I believe the Durango RT has so much space between the fender and the tires is because this bad boy can haul over 7000 pounds .
Yup. Because it's an SUV... Designed to haul or do some minor offroading. They are MEANT to have clearance. You don't want to ride that high, buy a wagon. Seriously... #savethewagons
The tow and go can haul 7000 the normal with a added tow hitch is 3500
Get the car version if you dont need ground clearance. If you live where it snows heavy, ground clearance>AWD
@@daveperkins5077 THANK YOU!!
I love my durango and consider these issues not bad when you look at what other models and brands have in terms of issues
Agreed!!! I love my 2021 GT Plus AWD!!!
I'd say number 7 is the only legit thing on this list. The rest is just your opinion. I personally don't like interior LED lights. Front LED turn signals were waiting for the front end redesign that came in 2021.I don't like an RT badge up front because I'n not trying to impress anyone but myself with my car and I already know it's an RT. There are jump terminals under the hood so the only time you need to access the battery is to change it, and the thing is heavy because it's a friggin' truck with a 5.7 V8 designed to tow heavy things....which is also why there is a bit of space between the tires and wheel well. Put 2300lbs on the tongue without some clearance and the tires would rub the wheel wells.
Completely agree. My 2014 had the racetrack replaced around 2019 or 2020 under warranty. It recently started to collect water again on the passenger side. Removed the screws on both sides and used black RTV along the gap all around. No more water so far. All the other complaints are as you say, opinions.
Picky, picky, picky. Water intrusion is the only significant point.
overly haiting
@@4klzI’m a Durango owner. I don’t think these points are valid for most buyers, especially the point about the battery. There are connection points under the hood. The poster isn’t informed about his own subject material. Also, the point about the Standard lighting in the cabin is bad because those are the dome lights. Dome lights are supposed to be dim to minimize reflections at night. This content is subpar which contributes to the clutter on the internet.
You shouldn’t be jump starting under the seat, I have an RT and there is a box under the hood that you are supposed to jumpstart with; it’s in the owners manual, it sit so high because it’s rated to tow upwards of 7500 pounds, I changed the lights to LEDs…simple fix. We love our truck…no complaints here…good on you for your opinions and direct user experience. Be safe..Be Blessed.
Pop the hood and you’ll see the terminals to jump start another vehicle or if you need a jump yourself. You don’t jump it from under the front passenger seat
The battery placement under the seat improves left-right and front-rear weight distribution, lowers the center of gravity, frees up room under the hood, and reduces stress on the battery that it would have experienced with underhood temperatures. It takes minutes to replace, and you won't have to install it yourself anyway. Jumper terminals are available under the hood. The only issue that seemed worth mentioning was the tail light, although I'd wager the issue has been resolved by now.
Love the quick intro, straight to the point! :)
Hey that's good to know regarding that rear racetrack light, I'll be sure to keep an eye on that. Thank you sir! I agree with you on the front R/T grille too. We have a '22 Durango RT+ AWD and it still came with the same basic Dodge grille. Otherwise I still love the Durango and the 5.7 liter platform (super easy to rebuild)
I’m on my 3rd Durango (2015, 2018, 2022). I love them. I don’t agree with anything in this video. FCA, please don’t change a thing! Unless it’s better MPG of course! 😉
You can jump start it from under the hood. It's a grounding post and a flap for the positive cable.
Exactly. Idk why bro only thought the under seat was the only thing lol
You don't need to look for a "flap" (whatever that is). Under the hood, on the passenger side, you will find both the Positive and Negative posts that Dodge purposely placed there for you to use to jump start your vehicle. Why doesn't anyone read the manual?
@@onlyonecannoli3952 I don't have to read the manual...I BUILT THE TRUCK... It's a red flap under the hood and under this red flap is a positive terminal... Do you know what that is now.. And you connect battery cables to it buddy and to the negative post under the hood as well and that's how you jump start your vehicle..
@@deewalk1337 Sure you did... You also designed it as well. I know who you are now! You were the one who pipped in at the design meeting and convinced management to do away with any reference to the positive jump start post cover and instead call it the big red flap. Your exploits are legendary at the Dodge. Why don't you tell everyone about that time you got them to change the name of one of the cars to the Dodge Snake! 😱🤣🤣😭
Damn you're spoiled! I would LOVE to have that Durango just like it is but I can't afford it yet. Be grateful for what you have.
Nothing was handed. But You can afford one! I got a video coming on how to get one with zero money out of pocket. Stay tuned!!
Dodge makes an SUV that is very nice. I have had my R/T for 7 years with little problem. (The Battery has jumper pins under the hood you need to look or read the manual ) I like the Battery under the seat I changed mine out after 6 years of use in 20 min, it was easy.
I still like mine and it was a reasonable price compared to most of the same size trucks with the same comforts back in 2016 and I plan on keeping mine as new cars prices are nuts. PS the R/T badge and Durango name came off mine the first time I waxed it I prefer a cleaner looking sleeper look, no one needs to know it has a 5.7 Hemi.
I know I’m probably 2 yrs too late but there should be a positive and negative post under the hood on the left between the fuse box and the front windshield to jump start it. So you really only have to go under the seat to disconnect the battery.
I’ve driven and worked on Mopar for over 40 years
If these are the only problems you have with them, that’s is nothing at all
I like it better without being lowered plus she won't be scraping everything that comes along to ground effect
Biggest disappointment is Durango still doesn't have a Panoramic Sunroof and 22 inches Rims.
It would be easier for them beak in your car
I think the Durango is most mean looking SUV on the market. Even the V6 models look just like hemi
All cars have issues …. But I have way more pros than cons though with my Durango…. For the price will are still getting a lot of bang for our money! Yours looks good though bro…. I love the upgrades. . . And you can still jump your car from under the hood…. The have two post for that
The Battery is in the perfect spot. No need to look in there, but every 4-5 years. Great Vid ! Sharp lookin lowered. Blacktop edition ?
I've got a Mercedes gl550 and battery in the same location and it's actually not bad to access and remove. Also to jump start u have battery posts under the hood for jump starting.
The dodge durango chasis is the same as this Mercedes
Daimler AG is the parent company for both Mercedes and Dodge and the Durango and GL are built on the same platform. I know depressing to hear your nice ass Benz shares the bones of it's retarded American cousin.
My 2021 Durango R/T Tow N Go has jumping posts in the engine compartment. It's on the left side. Not sure if yours is the same or not. I bet you it is.
Personally, I would have tried to use some weatherstripping to seal the taillights. Like that foam weatherstripping for homes. Are you going to be able to easily remove the taillight assembly after using silicone?
Edit - I see you have another video that address the jumping posts.
Yeah I got the tow package as well
About the battery location. 1)Does it not have the jump terminals under the hood? and 2) Be thankful it's not like my Challenger, in the trunk with no mechanical open from the exterior. So, if the battery goes bad, you have to crawl through the back seat into the trunk to open it.
I use my Durango for towing so I don’t mind the ride height at all, the only thing I dislike on mine is the driver side headlight is full of water so the led doesn’t work anymore and my racetrack led is also burnt out. Warranty will not cover any of it 😢
I planned on getting one to tow with also. How do you like it?
@@niceprince it ended up not working too well. Found out it didn’t have the factory tow package so it could only do like 2500 pounds max and none of the trailer wiring worked no matter what I did to diagnose it. Ended up selling it in September and now I have a ram power wagon.
Why won’t the cover it?
@@clubracer6 I got crap warranty. The dealer said it was bumper to bumper but that’s not the case at all. Got rid of the Durango since it was a lemon. I did sell it for more than I bought it for though.
The battery being inside the car keeps it out of the elements good for hot and cold weather... there are jumper points under the hood on the left side of the engine bay just a heads up also
Not so, I had my wife’s battery drain during last winter (-30c to -40c), due to lack of use. That battery just rests in a metal tub which acts like a heat sync. I actually had frost on the battery case. I’m considering a battery tender and blanket.
Good job!!! Very informative.
Good stuff my guy. Could you do a video of how you sealed the back lights. Some kind of tutorial. Thanks I’m advance
It’s coming, it’s coming👍🏼
@@AlexsRTLife I’ll be on the lookout lol. I like preventative maintenance lol
3:58 Point of correction bro, there are two terminals for jump-starting at the right side in the hood. You need all that hustle to jump-start.
Everything that sucks about his dodge is a preference thing to him or what i would like to call 'rich people problems'. Also if you are using 3row suv for its intended purpose(family hauler) it would not be wise to lower it like that, or if you are going to lower it you better spend the money on the hydraulic lowering kit so you can raise it up when its all packed up for those road trips.
I wouldn’t call it rich people problems, 😆(doesn’t fit me)but It Certainly would be my personal preference or opinion. Lol
Where did you put the silicone for the tale lights?
Yes the battery location sucks. I've personally changed one in my wife's 2013 Durango R/T so you can see Dodge never learned their lesson in all those years. As far as jumping it there's a positive and negative post in the engine bay for those purposes so not a very valid complaint. The weight is God awful but let's not jump over the main culprit why all Dodge Durango's suck and that's the gutless gas guzzling Hemi. Dodge would make you believe this thing was a world beater but it only beats up your gas budget and will lose to almost everything on the road currently. With 0-60 times at a manufacturer claimed 6.2sec you'd be lucky to do better than 7sec EVER!!! I'd say 7.5-8sec is what most ppl will experience in everyday conditions and get ready for 11-12mpg. And to think we traded an 07 Trailblazer SS in cuz we needed more room. I've missed it every day since. For a family SUV fine, as a performance SUV no way. And I'll give you the water in the "race track" lighting complaint cuz ppl will need to clearly see the turd they are no doubt lapping constantly.
Sorry but the battery location is ideal, it is out of the elements and lasts a lot longer. Also you can jump your vehicle from under the hood. No need to go under the seat
Wait til you have to replace one of those front lights, I was quoted $1800 in Canada because the LED strip burnt out. Tailgate portion of racetrack light also collects water, a few burnt out LED's make it look pretty lousy. Again somewhere in the $1500 range to replace. You can take out two screws at the bottom of these lights and any water will drain out saving the diodes.
Bro if your battery isn’t constantly dying. The transmission isn’t a known model issue. The engine doesn’t stall and lag. The electrical system doesn’t drain to unknown places. The sensors don’t give off wonky check engine light issue. The rack n pinion isn’t an issue. The water pump is fine. Bro you have no issues. Everything you’re complaining about are aesthetics minus the battery placement and unlikely water leak…
I’m not sure if anyone has said this, but you don’t need to go under the seat to jump start the car. It can be jumped from under the hood, there’s a connection point closes to the rear on passenger side. You only go under the seat to replace the battery.
Finally! Some who actually reads the manual and/or looks under their hood.
The battery under the passenger seat is a good thing. It keeps it out of the engine and exposed to heat and all the weather conditions. My grand Cherokee has it the same way and is 10 years old and still on the original battery. And there’s posts to hood to jump start it
Sorry, but if this is all your nitpicks on the Durango, I don’t even see the point in the video. These are all things you should/would know going into a purchase and/or minor gripes.
Wait till you hear what I have GOOD to say about Durango’s!
@@AlexsRTLife I’m all ears dude! I’ve honestly only owned mine for a few weeks, but like you, the negatives are nit picky. It’s a damn good vehicle that’s fun and functional at the same time.
Absolutely. The positives outweigh the negatives BY FAR!! That’s why I bought it
Rather than Lowering vehicle you can go with bigger wheels.. Lowering the vehicle will change the driving dynamics. Choice is always yours to trade in drive characteristics for looks. Lights are a easy fix... plenty on the market can be used as a upgrade...
Hi nube here what kind of silicone did you use ? My Durango does accumulate water aswell
Most of those things you hate can be easily fixed
Question regarding your lowering springs…. You mentioned the Eibach Pro Kit…. Did you replace your shocks in the rear as well? Or just the springs?
Thnaks!
From his previous videos he placed all four springs and changed the load leveling shocks in the rear only to regular mopar shocks.
I have other videos explaining it all bro, check them out
Ive heard of cars that have batteries located in the trunk still having electrical posts for jumping in the engine compartment still. Not sure if perhaps the Durango has them hidden somewhere in there or not? Either way with how cheaply built car batteries are nowadays and how they wear out fast in cold climates thats a real pain in the butt repair if the seat doesn't already have a quick release to access the battery.
Where did you get the R/T Badge for the Grill?
You are incorrect in saying that in order to jump you need to connect jumper cables under the passenger seat. While the battery is located there, Dodge placed positive and negative terminals for jumping in the engine compartment.
Where did you get the RT grille badge? Part #?
You can jump the car from under the hood yes the battery is displaced but there are terminals under the hood for jumping
Must be your first Dodge because my 06 magnum battery was in the Trunk
Battery’s in the car to keep it cool in hot summer temps
As far as the water getting into the taillights and things of that nature and the interior lighting, you should attempt to get in touch with the plant manager at the Jefferson North plant so that he can let the engineering department know about these issues.. go straight to the source where they're built.
Yeah! His name is "Mindyourowndamnbusiness". Good luck with that. Lol!
If someone’s not paying attention they not going to see your turn signal regardless if it was led or not 😂
Sweet looking vehicle. I bought an RT Plus and put a supercharger on it. It moves.
I also own a dodge Durango 2012 Some of the things that he mentioned I agree with battery location dim lighting overall it is a great vehicle you have a 6-7 passenger SUV that sounds great runs good And it is fun to drive those things are minor things but overall I know that it is a great vehicle
U said battery location and light diming!.dining!.. well gosh Der Karen I HATE the light'n Karen this thing is garbage lol
I love my 2012 Durango too. Besides the normal wear and tear, I have nothing but praise about this truck. She's got 170k miles and I might trade her in for another Durango (or a Ram) in the next couple months. This truck has been nothing but solid for me and my family over the years.
Where did you get the front splitter?
Ok I came here for the review but every time you talk I am more convinced you should be an audiobook narrator!! 😆 Great video, thanks !!
😂😂🤣👍🏽
Looks better debadged anyway. R/T in grill looks better than dodge but looks cleaner without any badges. IMO
Lift up your hood you can jump it from there it has a positive post and a negative tab, negative is supposed to go on just ground anyways not the actual battery post
The battery being under the passenger seat protects and saves the battery. The battery will last longer bc the motor produces so much heat, and heat kills the battery overtime, the battery is out of the elements under the seat. AND you can still jump your Durango under the hood. What are you talking about having to jump it under the seat?
But in the dark, the lights are amazing. Nobody's looking over their shoulder for the badge, mine are LED, blah, blah, blah..this dude should have bought a kia!!
,
None of these makes me change my mind about buying one😂 any reliability problems? I’d buy one used like 30k miles
You can Jump Start terminals Under Hood ... '-'
I need the AWD one and dont want it lowered my friend has a lift on his just a little one it was only a couple inches with 33" tires that poked out about 3/4 on stock wheels it was sick
none of these "issues" were things you wouldn't have known about when purchasing, aside from the tail light.
you do not need to jump start the car from the battery under the FRONT Passenger seat [access through the front of the seat not rear as in this video] just like EVERY other car that has a rear battery there is a negative and positive lug under the hood on the passenger side for testing and jumping.
The only thing that sucks in my is the infotainment center. The one my Ram 1500 was much more intuitive.
Got same exact one. Terrible power. Terrible gas miledge. Other than that we love it
I getting water in my tail light. Taking it to the dealership while it's under warranty. Going to ask them about sealing the new light. Wasn't aware it was a "thang". Also going to lower it AFTER the warranty is up. Because lowering could affect the warranty should something happen and they try to say that lowering caused the ussue
I’ll be surprised if they seal it for you because doing it isnt part of their service but I guess it all depends on the dealership.
@@AlexsRTLife I know. Just going to ask them if that's something they see a lot. What have you. Maybe it's something we'll do ourselves
I just leave the bottom bolt loose..
Imo, the battery location is kind of dumb (like the battery in the driverside front fender on my '05 sebring) and the water intrusion will become an issue at some point. Everything else seems kind of petty in all honesty.
I only really have 3 dislikes about my '04 durango 5.7l v8; gas mileage (maybe 14 mpg mixed on a good day), 16 fricking spark plugs, and the suspension/steering on my particular vehicle hasnt aged well. Other than that, i love everything else about her, and shes been paid in full, so no point in getting rid of her (193k miles and counting). :)
To you dont meed to jump start your car from the battery they pre-determined that by adding black and red/+- under hood to make it easier for you to jump start.
What area are you from? I'm near Philadelphia area.
There’s a spot under the hood to hook up jumper cables.
The jump terminal is under the hood! Never jump it off the battery under the seat.
My Durango is a 2020 and it is blacked out it’s lifted with led signals in front and back and on the mirrors also my lights inside is white not yellow and my head lights is bright white same as my 2018 suburban
Your wrong on the jump start the battery. Under the hood next to the fuse box are a set of terminals to do a jump start, there will be a battery and jumper cable icon molded to the plastic
What year model is this?
this is what happens when UA-cam deletes the dislike count. that’s 7 minutes of life I’ll never get back.
Video has almost 100k views and under 700 likes. What's the UA-cam version of "ratio"? 😂
What kind of camber bolts did u use to alignment the rear... I lowered mine but the original bolts won't push the wheel out more.. they told me I needed to use bigger washers on the bolt
The eibach pro kit doesn’t need a camber kit installed fortunately
@@AlexsRTLife i use eibach lowering kit but I don't know if it's the pro kit or they are the same so did they were able to get it align from the rear straight or ur tires are slightly tilting in on the top... my durango is a 2013 Durango Citadel 3.6L 2wd ..
Yeah it does have a little outward camber in the rear but those wheels are 22” And also bigger tires. That little bit of camber in the rear won’t hurt it/ no kits needed. I just did front end alignment after the lowering springs were installed
@@AlexsRTLife ooh ok... nice mine has the original 20s ... thanks for the info...
I bought the Hellcat. Problems solved. 😀
Look under the hood they have jumper post under there
I just can’t get myself to spend $50k for a vehicle.
What are the wheels specs?
Too late for my racetrack lights. I wish i would have know then what i know now about my Durango mistakes were made lessons learned.
I have a full diy seal racetrack light video coming soon, you won’t want to miss it!
Same 😢
Mine has two jump terminals under the hood on passengers side so you don't have to get all the way to the battery
You buy a 3 row SUV and you complain for the weight and too high suspension...
Everyones entitled to their own opinion, but thanks for watching! Lol
Is it lowered???
you want a light vehicle with a lot of power but get an awd hemi🤣🤣 dude if you want a fast ‘light’ durango, get the SRT and get it tuned for even higher power
The SRT are actually heavier🤣LOL. They just have more HP and comes with heftier price And eats up more fuel!!
@@AlexsRTLife power to weight on an 18 rt awd is 14.94, power to weight on the same year model srt hellcat sits at 7.79. it weighs 200lbs more with nearly double the hp
@@AlexsRTLife damn your looking for a 1000hp suv that’s big, gas no wheel gap, and gets prius fuel economy?
@@cristianfranco7658 😆🤣😆
Unlike the dodge journey you have to removed front wheel to access the battery
The Durango is not bad
Thanks
There is a positive and negative post under the hood. It isn’t an issue
hej dude, I´ve got a Volvo XC90 Mod 2, with 6062,712 Pounds and 4 Cylinder Engine, THAT SUXXXXXXX!!!! So, Durango with V8 5,7 L... is not so sad how my car is:/
F....k the lightning, what about the power?
On so it’s supposed to eat gas’s up it’s built for racing well to me
The self leveling Nivomat shock/struts really suck, and are prone to failure. Also expect a stiffer ride in the RT compared to the GT. Rough roads in Northern Alberta made me regret this choice.
Sorry bro hate to bust your bubbles but you can give another car a boost if you open your hood there is two bars on the left-hand side black and red I believe that's where you can give a boost to another car.😏
You are wrong about jumping it off. There are jump studs under the hood.
You do realize that there is a battery jump terminal under the hood right..
My rt is perfect 🔥
