Put 2300lbs on the tongue without some clearance and the tires would rub the wheel wells.

My 2021 Durango R/T Tow N Go has jumping posts in the engine compartment. It's on the left side. Not sure if yours is the same or not. I bet you it is. Personally, I would have tried to use some weatherstripping to seal the taillights. Like that foam weatherstripping for homes. Are you going to be able to easily remove the taillight assembly after using silicone? Edit - I see you have another video that address the jumping posts.
I’m not sure if anyone has said this, but you don’t need to go under the seat to jump start the car. It can be jumped from under the hood, there’s a connection point closes to the rear on passenger side. You only go under the seat to replace the battery.
Sorry, but if this is all your nitpicks on the Durango, I don’t even see the point in the video. These are all things you should/would know going into a purchase and/or minor gripes.
@@AlexsRTLife I’m all ears dude! I’ve honestly only owned mine for a few weeks, but like you, the negatives are nit picky. It’s a damn good vehicle that’s fun and functional at the same time.
The battery being under the passenger seat protects and saves the battery. The battery will last longer bc the motor produces so much heat, and heat kills the battery overtime, the battery is out of the elements under the seat. AND you can still jump your Durango under the hood. What are you talking about having to jump it under the seat?
Wait til you have to replace one of those front lights, I was quoted $1800 in Canada because the LED strip burnt out. Tailgate portion of racetrack light also collects water, a few burnt out LED's make it look pretty lousy. Again somewhere in the $1500 range to replace. You can take out two screws at the bottom of these lights and any water will drain out saving the diodes.
The battery under the passenger seat is a good thing. It keeps it out of the engine and exposed to heat and all the weather conditions. My grand Cherokee has it the same way and is 10 years old and still on the original battery. And there’s posts to hood to jump start it
Rather than Lowering vehicle you can go with bigger wheels.. Lowering the vehicle will change the driving dynamics. Choice is always yours to trade in drive characteristics for looks. Lights are a easy fix... plenty on the market can be used as a upgrade...
You think that’s bad for battery placement? My jeep wrangler has 2 batteries and one of them is under the fuse box, which requires me to dismantle my fuse box in order to get to it and in top of that if I don’t turn off auto start off there’s a 50/50 chance it will blow a fuse or ruin the battery.
Yes the battery location sucks. I've personally changed one in my wife's 2013 Durango R/T so you can see Dodge never learned their lesson in all those years. As far as jumping it there's a positive and negative post in the engine bay for those purposes so not a very valid complaint. The weight is God awful but let's not jump over the main culprit why all Dodge Durango's suck and that's the gutless gas guzzling Hemi. Dodge would make you believe this thing was a world beater but it only beats up your gas budget and will lose to almost everything on the road currently. With 0-60 times at a manufacturer claimed 6.2sec you'd be lucky to do better than 7sec EVER!!! I'd say 7.5-8sec is what most ppl will experience in everyday conditions and get ready for 11-12mpg. And to think we traded an 07 Trailblazer SS in cuz we needed more room. I've missed it every day since. For a family SUV fine, as a performance SUV no way. And I'll give you the water in the "race track" lighting complaint cuz ppl will need to clearly see the turd they are no doubt lapping constantly.
Dome lights are not supposed to be super bright. The interior lights are really on to be used at night in the dark. Have you ever gone from a bright room inside a house to stepping outside in the dark. It takes longer for your eyes to adjust. Upgrade them if you want. But know the dangers. I'm not looking to buy the R/T model so badges don't concern me. That wheel well gap is for clearance and to be able to put beefier tires on. I live in the Midwest. Mud and snow are a regular occurrence for me during their respective seasons. Battery location can be annoying. But you clearly haven't looked under your hood. There are terminals under your hood to jump start you vehicle or for you to hook up to jump start someone else. Read your manual my friend. If only dodge put it under the floor of the chargers instead of under the back seat. You would have to remove the back seat (seat portion) to get to the battery. I had a dodge Journey before and to change the battery you had to remove the front driver side tire. So yeah, I'll take it under the floor if it's not up front under the hood. As for weight, what should a full size 3 row seating SUV weigh? Have you compared it to similar sized SUVs from other manufacturers? They are all extremely similar in weight. The water seepage in the taillights was the only mechanical thing you mentioned. That is quite an annoyance, I had a vehicle that had that issue with just the driver side headlight. I tried sealing that birch like 5 times, every time I had to change the bulb because it was annoying. I ended up taking the entire headlight assembly out, smearing the entire crease with JB weld and then when I put the new bulb in I put fingernail polish all around where the bulb/socket fits into the assembly. I think the worst of the fingernail polish was that my daughters fought over which color I should use. As for the blinker being too dim..... Park on the street by your house, turn on the blinker, then walk down the street until you can't tell if the blinker is on or not. I guarantee you the flashing orange can be seen for at least 2-3 blocks away in the daylight.
Bro if your battery isn’t constantly dying. The transmission isn’t a known model issue. The engine doesn’t stall and lag. The electrical system doesn’t drain to unknown places. The sensors don’t give off wonky check engine light issue. The rack n pinion isn’t an issue. The water pump is fine. Bro you have no issues. Everything you’re complaining about are aesthetics minus the battery placement and unlikely water leak…
a 2013 at least is a bit quicker if you manual shift, it will start out in first instead of second gear. The Durango is great for towing, a benefit of all of that weight. I like where the battery is, and yes the interior lighting sucks, easy enough to upgrade. Handles great for a large vehicle. Gas millage could be better.
My parents had a Buick Lesabre that had battery under rear seat. Actually better for the battery to be in a cooler location and there are points under the hood to jump off.
you do not need to jump start the car from the battery under the FRONT Passenger seat [access through the front of the seat not rear as in this video] just like EVERY other car that has a rear battery there is a negative and positive lug under the hood on the passenger side for testing and jumping.
Lift up your hood you can jump it from there it has a positive post and a negative tab, negative is supposed to go on just ground anyways not the actual battery post
Why do some youtubers insist on making videos that make them look ignorant and foolish? Do you research before you buy a vehicle...as well as before making a video.
I getting water in my tail light. Taking it to the dealership while it's under warranty. Going to ask them about sealing the new light. Wasn't aware it was a "thang". Also going to lower it AFTER the warranty is up. Because lowering could affect the warranty should something happen and they try to say that lowering caused the ussue
I need the AWD one and dont want it lowered my friend has a lift on his just a little one it was only a couple inches with 33" tires that poked out about 3/4 on stock wheels it was sick

I love my 2012 Durango too. Besides the normal wear and tear, I have nothing but praise about this truck. She's got 170k miles and I might trade her in for another Durango (or a Ram) in the next couple months. This truck has been nothing but solid for me and my family over the years.
To you dont meed to jump start your car from the battery they pre-determined that by adding black and red/+- under hood to make it easier for you to jump start.
Your wrong on the jump start the battery. Under the hood next to the fuse box are a set of terminals to do a jump start, there will be a battery and jumper cable icon molded to the plastic
Imo, the battery location is kind of dumb (like the battery in the driverside front fender on my '05 sebring) and the water intrusion will become an issue at some point. Everything else seems kind of petty in all honesty. I only really have 3 dislikes about my '04 durango 5.7l v8; gas mileage (maybe 14 mpg mixed on a good day), 16 fricking spark plugs, and the suspension/steering on my particular vehicle hasnt aged well. Other than that, i love everything else about her, and shes been paid in full, so no point in getting rid of her (193k miles and counting). :)

I’ve driven and worked on Mopar for over 40 years
If these are the only problems you have with them, that’s is nothing at all
My 2021 Durango R/T Tow N Go has jumping posts in the engine compartment.
Yeah I got the tow package as well
I’m not sure if anyone has said this, but you don’t need to go under the seat to jump start the car. It can be jumped from under the hood, there’s a connection point closes to the rear on passenger side. You only go under the seat to replace the battery.
Finally! Some who actually reads the manual and/or looks under their hood.
Sorry, but if this is all your nitpicks on the Durango, I don’t even see the point in the video. These are all things you should/would know going into a purchase and/or minor gripes.
Wait till you hear what I have GOOD to say about Durango’s!
@@AlexsRTLife I’m all ears dude! I’ve honestly only owned mine for a few weeks, but like you, the negatives are nit picky. It’s a damn good vehicle that’s fun and functional at the same time.
Absolutely. The positives outweigh the negatives BY FAR!! That’s why I bought it
Biggest disappointment is Durango still doesn't have a Panoramic Sunroof and 22 inches Rims.
It would be easier for them beak in your car
I like it better without being lowered plus she won't be scraping everything that comes along to ground effect
Love the quick intro, straight to the point! :)
The Durango is not bad
The Battery is in the perfect spot. No need to look in there, but every 4-5 years. Great Vid ! Sharp lookin lowered. Blacktop edition ?
The battery under the passenger seat is a good thing. It keeps it out of the engine and exposed to heat and all the weather conditions. My grand Cherokee has it the same way and is 10 years old and still on the original battery. And there’s posts to hood to jump start it
Lol, wow. I’ve had my ‘12 RT for 10 years. None of these are deal breakers and this car has been rock solid.
Good stuff my guy. Could you do a video of how you sealed the back lights. Some kind of tutorial. Thanks I’m advance
It’s coming, it’s coming👍🏼
@@AlexsRTLife I’ll be on the lookout lol. I like preventative maintenance lol
You can jump the car from under the hood yes the battery is displaced but there are terminals under the hood for jumping
Most of those things you hate can be easily fixed
Where did you get the R/T Badge for the Grill?
Where did you put the silicone for the tale lights?
Must be your first Dodge because my 06 magnum battery was in the Trunk
a 2013 at least is a bit quicker if you manual shift, it will start out in first instead of second gear.
None of these makes me change my mind about buying one😂 any reliability problems? I’d buy one used like 30k miles
Looks better debadged anyway. R/T in grill looks better than dodge but looks cleaner without any badges. IMO
This is the most cry baby video i ever seen
Where did you get the RT grille badge? Part #?
Lift up your hood you can jump it from there it has a positive post and a negative tab, negative is supposed to go on just ground anyways not the actual battery post
bro there are pins under the hood, passnger side, that connect to the battey terminal
Sweet looking vehicle. I bought an RT Plus and put a supercharger on it. It moves.
You can Jump Start terminals Under Hood ... '-'
Why do some youtubers insist on making videos that make them look ignorant and foolish? Do you research before you buy a vehicle...as well as before making a video.
Battery’s in the car to keep it cool in hot summer temps
Good job!!! Very informative.
Mine has two jump terminals under the hood on passengers side so you don't have to get all the way to the battery
You can jumpstart your car by using the terminal under the hood and the ground plug under the hood
Where did you get the front splitter?
Hi nube here what kind of silicone did you use ? My Durango does accumulate water aswell
The jump terminal is under the hood! Never jump it off the battery under the seat.
I’ll be surprised if they seal it for you because doing it isnt part of their service but I guess it all depends on the dealership.
@@AlexsRTLife I know. Just going to ask them if that's something they see a lot. What have you. Maybe it's something we'll do ourselves
I just leave the bottom bolt loose..
You buy a 3 row SUV and you complain for the weight and too high suspension...
Everyones entitled to their own opinion, but thanks for watching! Lol
I need the AWD one and dont want it lowered my friend has a lift on his just a little one it was only a couple inches with 33" tires that poked out about 3/4 on stock wheels it was sick
I also own a dodge Durango 2012 Some of the things that he mentioned I agree with battery location dim lighting overall it is a great vehicle you have a 6-7 passenger SUV that sounds great runs good And it is fun to drive those things are minor things but overall I know that it is a great vehicle
U said battery location and light diming!.dining!.. well gosh Der Karen I HATE the light'n Karen this thing is garbage lol
none of these "issues" were things you wouldn't have known about when purchasing, aside from the tail light.
Question regarding your lowering springs…. You mentioned the Eibach Pro Kit…. Did you replace your shocks in the rear as well? Or just the springs?
Thnaks!
From his previous videos he placed all four springs and changed the load leveling shocks in the rear only to regular mopar shocks.
I have other videos explaining it all bro, check them out
But in the dark, the lights are amazing. Nobody's looking over their shoulder for the badge, mine are LED, blah, blah, blah..this dude should have bought a kia!!
,
If someone’s not paying attention they not going to see your turn signal regardless if it was led or not 😂
My Durango is a 2020 and it is blacked out it’s lifted with led signals in front and back and on the mirrors also my lights inside is white not yellow and my head lights is bright white same as my 2018 suburban
I'm 3 years late, my boy. I can take that RT off your hands, my boy. We can trade vehicles, i got a 2014 malibu Lt, let's make it happen.
If you wanted the lighter, faster, more options get the SRT-8. dude is literally complaning cuz he bought the lower trim level. Lol. It has a high ride hight because its not a race trim. You are still able to tow and haul things. The SRT-8 is lower, lighter, faster, and has better lighting. Looks like someone didn't do their homework before they bought it. 😅😅😅
My 2000 Durango is 7000 pounds… and my Durango runs fine…
They have the jump start connectors in the engine bay
The only thing that sucks in my is the infotainment center. The one my Ram 1500 was much more intuitive.
Too late for my racetrack lights. I wish i would have know then what i know now about my Durango mistakes were made lessons learned.
I have a full diy seal racetrack light video coming soon, you won’t want to miss it!
Same 😢
this is what happens when UA-cam deletes the dislike count. that’s 7 minutes of life I’ll never get back.
Video has almost 100k views and under 700 likes. What's the UA-cam version of "ratio"? 😂
Ok I came here for the review but every time you talk I am more convinced you should be an audiobook narrator!! 😆 Great video, thanks !!
😂😂🤣👍🏽
Do you have to take the seat out to change the battery?
Not necessarily, but will be a lot easier when the seat is tilted for more clearance
This is just nit picking, the only thing I see is the interior lights are actually very dim. There should be jump posts in the engine bay.
is this guy joking?
Buying an suv and expecting low ride?
Unlike the dodge journey you have to removed front wheel to access the battery
I just can’t get myself to spend $50k for a vehicle.
What kind of camber bolts did u use to alignment the rear... I lowered mine but the original bolts won't push the wheel out more.. they told me I needed to use bigger washers on the bolt
The eibach pro kit doesn’t need a camber kit installed fortunately
@@AlexsRTLife i use eibach lowering kit but I don't know if it's the pro kit or they are the same so did they were able to get it align from the rear straight or ur tires are slightly tilting in on the top... my durango is a 2013 Durango Citadel 3.6L 2wd ..
Yeah it does have a little outward camber in the rear but those wheels are 22” And also bigger tires. That little bit of camber in the rear won’t hurt it/ no kits needed. I just did front end alignment after the lowering springs were installed
@@AlexsRTLife ooh ok... nice mine has the original 20s ... thanks for the info...
you want a light vehicle with a lot of power but get an awd hemi🤣🤣 dude if you want a fast ‘light’ durango, get the SRT and get it tuned for even higher power
The SRT are actually heavier🤣LOL. They just have more HP and comes with heftier price And eats up more fuel!!
@@AlexsRTLife power to weight on an 18 rt awd is 14.94, power to weight on the same year model srt hellcat sits at 7.79. it weighs 200lbs more with nearly double the hp
@@AlexsRTLife damn your looking for a 1000hp suv that’s big, gas no wheel gap, and gets prius fuel economy?
@@cristianfranco7658 😆🤣😆
As far as the water getting into the taillights and things of that nature and the interior lighting, you should attempt to get in touch with the plant manager at the Jefferson North plant so that he can let the engineering department know about these issues.. go straight to the source where they're built.
Yeah! His name is "Mindyourowndamnbusiness". Good luck with that. Lol!
What area are you from? I'm near Philadelphia area.
Is it lowered???
What are the wheels specs?
