    great demo, thanks for the closeups and use of angles to show hydrophobic before and after the wash. Ive been searching for an answer to the "clogging" hypothesis for ceramic coatings and so far you've been the best at showing instead of "trust me bro". Thanks for taking the extra time to shoot/edit required. Many of the videos out there really push push push products and when compared to longevity testing there are many products that last 12 months or more with excellent hydrophobics and no special decontamination process (such as Scott HD channel on UA-cam). I have a feeling some coatings/sealants are more resistant to certain "contaminants" than others so while a decontamination every 6 month probably wouldn't hurt (unless overly aggressive decontamination chemicals) there are products that would need it less frequently and some cars in different environments and with different contaminant exposure may need rejuvenating decontamination wash more or less frequently on an as needed basis. The best argument for when to do a decontamination wash seems to be that its best practice prior to using a topper/rejuvenator sealant like the c2 v3. In a world full of chemical sales shills your video is very straight forward and definitely appears to show rejuvenation of hydrophobics on the hood of the car after the decontamination foam and then wash.

      @@alangligor I want to learn machine polishing. What polisher do you use and is it dual action or rotary? I tried hand polishing my car with a heavy cut compound then fine polish, it took me the whole day, and I can still see deep swirl marks in the clear coat unfortunately

    • @alangligor
      @alangligor  Рік тому +1

      So rotary it is old school.. you need some experience before you try to machine polish your car .. dual action is more forgiving basically.
      If I were you I would get a panel from a scrapyard and practice on that first .
      Watch some UA-cam tutorials or get a course in this line of work.
      I have both and in different sizes.
      Rotary ( hence the name) eats away the clear coat much faster and you have to be careful NOT to burn the paint.
      Hand polishing is not recommended ( to hard) plus you don’t get results.
      You have to know what sort of paint is it.

    • @alangligor
      @alangligor  Рік тому +1

      Soft compound hard compound
      Ex:
      Toyota , Mazda, Skoda - soft paint
      Bmw, Mercedes,hard paint
      Basically more clear coat
      Please watch tutorials or get a course you don’t want surprises!😃

      @@alangligor thankyou very much it's good to get professional advice, I was originally going to get a rotary as most people rave about them but I think I will get a dual action now just to be safe. Its surely got to be better/easier than hand polishing

      @@tomeastman6634 firstly you’re not the Colchester Utd centre back are you? 😂 ... I’m sure Alan will answer but, there are lots of ceramic infused detailing sprays and sealants that can be used as toppers or boosters for a ceramic coating, not necessarily needed but keeps the water behaviour fresher and can help the coating last longer 👍🏼

    • @alangligor
      @alangligor  3 роки тому

      @@tomeastman6634 hi Tom!
      How are you?
      Well a ceramic coating ( depends on the brand) as well, needs a maintenance wash every 6 months or less. But that couple of microns (ceramic) that is applied on your paint work it will be covered in salt, tfr, industrial fallout,different temperatures in winter!
      In summer!
      Bugs, heat, poor quality water,tar etc
      All those factors and more influence your hydrophobic properties!
      So after winter and before winter you need a proper maintenance wash!
      Hence my video!
      I hope this will answer your question!

      Hi there!
      Thank you for watching my video and I apologise for “ no sound” I had to remove a song..🤦🏼‍♂️ copyright music.
      Scientific description 🤔
      I can tell you from my experience that any ceramic coating if is not properly maintained doesn’t have the same water repellency , term :
      water beading water sheeting.
      What I mean by properly maintained:
      After winter for example the surface of the car needs a decontamination wash and after that a top up extra protection (with a sealant,wax etc).
      Decontamination is needed because of the salt , grit,industrial fallout.
      That’s why the ceramic coating gets clogged sometimes.
      I hope this answers your question.
      Thank you

    Vinegar wipedown or weak HF solution is the only way to remove hardened silica scale on your coating nano strands. A decon shampoo with high PH won't be able to dissolve it. Elixir is the better product than C2, and Kamikaze Overcoat is the big daddy. Also, you didn't need decon wash if you're washing your car regularly with proper shampoo like Reset or Mystic Bubble.

    You need an acid shampoo to restore hydrophobic properties of the ceramic coating... The main problem is water minerals deposit

    • @alangligor
      @alangligor  2 роки тому

      Hi Luca!
      Thank you for taking the time to watch my video and for your comment.
      Well I think that zero decon shampoo in high concentration gives a refresh to a ceramic coating.
      A acid shampoo I think is a bit strong.
      Well depends on the brand of the ceramic coating, when was applied and other factors.
      I use zero decon in springtime after all that salt and grit from the roads .
      But this is my opinion ,so everyone is entitled to his own opinion.
      Many thanks and all the best Luca.
