The battery life is superb, the landscape camera is a winner for me, the shape is suitable for my carrying case. As part of my purchase, I threw in a case from ESR, and a Logitech Crayon to compliment my purchase. So far so good on my iPad. The Logitech Crayon works perfectly with it as well.

I continue to go back and forth in my thoughts regarding this accessory for the iPad Pro. When this accessory first came out, I had my gripes about the design of the accessory namely the floating idea of the iPad Pro when attached to the case.
However after watching several review videos of this accessory, I understand why the iPad has to float, especially when you compare the accessory to the Brydge keyboard, because when you tilt the iPad too far, the iPad of course falls over, with this case that does not ever happen. Plus, the keyboard and typing experience is the best I have ever experienced on an keyboard case for the iPad.
When using the TrackPad on the case, it really does transform how you interact with the iPad Pro. I was thinking of sticking with the previous version folio keyboard case from Apple, and getting an external TrackPad, but I do prefer the typing experience over the older Apple Folio typing keyboard for the iPad.
The Magic Keyboard case definitely brings the iPad Pro closer to being an laptop replacement. What I enjoy about the iPad over a laptop is the Apps. I find a lot more apps more built for my needs than I find on MacOS. During my college days, it also made more sense for me to have a laptop, especially when I was in college the iPad did not exist. The iPad did not exist till I was in my graduate program, but a laptop again made more sense for me.
What I love about the case and I cant break away from it though, is the typing experience. The case makes me want to use my iPad more often for typing, weather to take notes for work, or simply typing reviews like this one. If was still in school, the iPad would be my go to for computing portability, and have something like a MacMini for my home computer to do all my serious work on. Which, is kinda like my setup now, but I use a Pc for work and an iPad Pro for my personal computer.
The iPad to me, is just more fun to use, and it offers more convenience than a traditional laptop. How it accomplishes this, is its just faster to login to your iPad than a laptop, apps just run faster on the iPad Pro, and you can’t beat the screen when comparing the device to a MacBook Air.
iPad Pro’s are just more fun to use period!

Ultimately it seems the lack of a substantial tilt would be an occupational health nightmare. Can definitely see a lot of back and neck problems developing with iPad users now

Hey Noah, thanks for the review. Question: with the iPad taken out of the Magic Keyboard case, and with the cover closed, if you put the iPad Pro on top of the closed case, will the magnets somewhat latch on to pull in the iPad Pro? I ask because if it does, that’s a probably good way to put the device into note taking or drawing mode. Curious to know and thanks for replying.

I started my UA-cam channel with my iPad Pro 2018, I film everything with the ipad, use its mics, then edit the footage with lumafusion and make the thumbnails on the iPad. its not perfect, I want to get a camera, but until I can afford all the other gear, the iPad allows me to actually create things, and I love it. I honestly think its one of the best tools than a creator trying to get a start could have. it sounds kinda crazy but if I could get a bigger iPad like a 14" 15" I totally would, when video editing you always need more screen real estate. great review!!

How is the outside shell of the case holding up? Is the soft material starting to wear off? I can imagine the bottom side of the case would wear....
Do you think it would be better to charge the iPad itself than charging threw the keyboard?. Better for the battery..
Right now I’m using an elecom paper screen protector and I really like it, I dumbly left the outer screen protector on which was causing color distortion but after removing that it became crazy better and super rough since I got the rough version. I imagine the smooth version would be even more clear which I wonder how great that would be, this protector really emulates that rough paper texture it’s kind of uncanny
Hello. I am planning to buy a new PC. I sold my Macbook Air 2017 for an upgrade. Now that the Magic Keyboard came out, I am thinking if I should buy the new Macbook Air or the iPad Pro with the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil. I used to have my MacBook Air for basic tasks like making powerpoint presentation and word documents with Microsoft Apps. Nothing extraordinary like video editing. However, I am planning to go paperless this time with my notes. I know I won’t be able to achieve that with a MacBook. Will buying the iPad set make me meet my needs? Or will it be more practical to buy the new Macbook Air and an iPad NON-Pro plus the Pencil?

I have had my magic keyboard with my 11 iPad Pro since December 2021, and i love it, simply wont use my ipad the main way i use it without it unless im using my Apple Pencil. Totally recommend, will always recommend something like this over the Logitech keyboard Folio.

my problem with the material they used on the magic keyboard is grease like stains won’t come out. it’s annoying af. i’ve babied this thing and i’ve still got a couple.
luckily i ordered a sopi skin in matte black that i intend to put on as soon as the stains get real bad.

As someone who uses a iPad as their main device, I don’t use the pencil as Because I have no artistic merit in that area lol, this will be perfect for me. I can’t wait till later this fall when Microsoft updates their software for mouse support.
Is the iPad Pro 11” 2018 compatible with this magic keyboard?
IT actailly works to flip the whole thing around (with keyboard up in the air) and use for drawing that way. If you put it on something grabby (or add a little non-slip material on the back of the case) it helps prevent the hinge from giving out with the weight of your hand. you could also tuck something under the hinge in this position - a little wonky I admit but it does give you a good angle for using pencil. Also you can open it one-handed by laying it down with the camera facing down and away from you and then pulling the keyboard up and towards you, then whole thing then pivots on the hinge as you swing the keyboard down onto the table - I actually always open it this way - even when I have both hands available - the second hand can grab the top of the screen as it opens and tilt it back to where you want it.

For the scratching your iPad problem, just buy a SwitchEasy CoverBuddy or wait for the Pitaka Air Case for the iPad. They will protect your iPad and are compatible with the Smart/Magic Keyboard
They make skins for the magic keyboard and its worked out great for me.
Hopefully they make a case for the magic keyboard case. In aluminum with little feetys at the bottom
How do you get that golden hour lighting in your studio?
Flip case upside down for drawing mode. It will look silly but it works if you want a good angle for drawing while keeping it cosy and safe in the case 😉
