@@VolcardoReviewer The Tab S6 has a different aspect ratio and a smaller screen, which makes for a better PPI compared to the iPad (Tab S6: 287 PPI, both iPad Pro models: 264 PPI). So in reality, the difference in clarity isn't all that different. However, while the Tab S6 has the superior aspect ratio for watching most video content, I think the iPad Pros have a better aspect ratio for most other activities (web pages, reading etc). I'd recommend the Tab S6 for people who are big on watching videos (especially for the OLED screen), while the iPad is better for content creation (powerful CPU and great apps like Lumafusion). In the end, it's a matter of preference. I actually use a 2018 iPad and also have the Tab S5e, and I can see positive points and pitfalls in both of them. Apple, Samsung and other brands all have their place.
Marvin, that’s a great comment. I’m just a standard user, not technically that savvy, and I’m just going off having both the iPad and the s6 next to each other. I think the oled screen just looks crisp and clear, with really good blacks and, for me, this makes for a better viewing experience.
I just purchased the 11 inch for college. I recommend the 11 over the 12.9 because you can invest that extra $200 for accessories which you will definitely want, such as a keyboard and a Magic Mouse.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for doing this. Unlike all other reviews you've actually made something worth watching. This is the kind of videos that are really needed. Not those spec readout videos with fancy b roll shots.
Thank you for doing this comparison that seems to be obvious but neglected by every reviewer. This is very helpful. Wish you could do another video comparing productivity apps like Office apps, Procreate, Notability, Facebook etc with more focus on split view.
Top Dog it does. I’ve got one on my 11” 2018 Pro. Makes me want to remove it sometimes when I see videos without it. Needs a way quickly take it off and on
Hamza writing feels more grippy with it but I wouldn’t say it’s life changing or anything. It doesn’t really increase my speed or anything. It just feel better. But if you take notes a lot and constantly draw on your iPad, the feeling with the protector make a big difference
I spent 2 days watching around 40 videos on iPads before I decided whether I get the 11 inch or the 12.9 inch. But no-one did a comparison like you did. Love it, thank you! And it seems like you also subscribed to Ali Abdaal :D
I wish you’ll make a video comparing the hand writing experience on these two. I understand that the 12.9” size is the size of an A4 paper, but how is the 11” compare to it? Does the difference justify getting the 12.9” if I plan to mainly use the device for note taking and class work assignments? Thank you!
Hello! Not sure if I’m too late on this one, but I’ve had the 2018 11” iPad Pro for more than 2 years now. Handwriting experience so far has been great, as if I was writing on a moleskin journal. That is great for on-the-go note taking; however, it’s a different story for handwriting for “bigger”-sized papers. Since the iPad Pro 11 has a different aspect ratio (let alone size), I find myself writing on landscape mode on the 11 inch when I am needed to write in paper sizes of A4 or Letter (via GoodNotes), as it doesn’t scale perfectly to the smaller screen. With this, I find myself zooming in and out all the time when writing on these larger paper sizes. Yes, writing in portrait mode is still feasible for these “bigger” paper sizes, but tI have to zoom in and out more often as to just putting in on landscape mode (I know GoodNotes has a “magnifying glass” feature, but I don’t find it natural so I don’t use it lol). This is the same when I’m drawing in Procreate. It’s kinda pesky since I used to handwrite daily, but not really enough to make me ditch the 11 inch. But as I said, it’s a joy to take notes with it, especially when it’s very optimized for portrait mode. I use Notability for this and it’s really handy, especially when you have to move around or take notes while standing (as it was prior to COVID). Tho even at home, this was still my use-case so it really helped. I was so close on returning it for the 12.9 inch, but I was happy with the extra perks of the 11 inch (extra portability, easier to carry while writing notes on the fly or for “quick notes”, easier to grip when playing or watching in bed when I’m not studying, and easier to maneuver when scanning many docs with the camera, and of course, it’s cheaper!). Still, it ultimately depends on your workflow. If you spend 80% of your time on your desk, the 12.9” is the best bang for your buck considering you’re maximizing the screen real-estate and that you’re closer to “life-size” paper sizes (ONLY if you’re working on paper sizes of A4, Letter, Legal, or more; especially if your requirements need you to print your handwritten works all the time). Yet personally, if you want to save money and maximize your purchase, the 11” iPad Pro is no sleeper; you get the best of both worlds, save for that minor inconvenience on screen size. Hope that helps!
@@Hitorion Hi 👋 Eventually I chose the 12.9” as I do use it more on a desk, however after about a year of use I can tell you that I too prefer to write on it in landscape mode because even though it is the biggest option it’s still not big enough like an actual paper notebook. I really like it but I do wonder if I should’ve opt for the 11” and save money since even this size isn’t enough.. Dunno if you’re still debating, but I just decided to downgrade from the 12.9 to 11. Pretty much, if you want a MacBook you can occasionally use as a tablet, go bigger. If you want a tablet that can sometimes serve as a MacBook, go smaller. The 12.9 is awful for reading news, playing games, couch surfing... it’s heavy and too wide, more so when you tack on a magic keyboard. Obviously the iPad isn’t a full fledged computer, but that’s the easiest comparison I can make.
I have the 12.9 and it’s not that big. And who stands and holds their iPad to do work for more than 5 mins? 12.9 is easier to prop on ur lap on the couch and u don’t have to have the screen close to ur face to read text
This was a very helpful video, especially for those who cannot reach a physical Apple store to see the devices next to each other in person. Just a tip though: I would have done less on the vertical usage (because I think most people use their iPads in landscape mode over 90% of the time), and covered fewer different newspapers, and instead showed more apps. What about email? iMovie? Pages? etc. I've got a quite specific question about multitasking on the iPad Pro… in iMovie, on the 11 inch (that I have), while in iMovie, one can use slide-over but not split-view. This isn't much of an issue since exporting is so fast, but I could see it be annoying for people who edit videos frequently. So my question is: how is it on the 12.9 inch? Does its large screen allow for proper split view with iMovie (ie where iMovie doesn't take up the whole screen)?

For me the deciding factor will be the weight. It's easy to get use to the keyboard. I mean we've been typing on the condensed keyboard on the phone for so long that it's now second nature. However, if you do intend to type a lot, then perhaps it makes more sense to get the larger iPad Pro. Or go for the 11-inch but get an external Bluetooth keyboard which will provide a much better typing experience. That's if you type a lot.
@@teohontech7141 yea, i dont mind the weight because i got pretty big hands but i can understand why for some it might be to big. I have also heard that due to the ratio of the 11inch that some apps dont support that resolution when you use them in split screen. This will trigger the iphone apps on the tablet vs 2 full sized tablet apps on the 12.9! Did you have any experience with this?
@@TheChameleon2008 I've not seen that problem. The aspect ratio for both 11 and 12.9 is slightly different. Some apps design to one aspect ratio, so when the app is opened with another aspect ratio, sometimes there are (really small) black bars on the side. It's a very minor issue. Apps that default to phone apps will still default to phone apps regardless of the iPad size.
Excellent comparison. Truly unique. 12.9 is clear winner, But, it's still an iPad. Weight and portability are important and don't forget price. I'll wait for the 2021, 12.9 iPad. Peace.
ed3432 hi ed! I just bought the 12.9 inch and i have to say: ist is clearly not as Heavy as i thought ist would be! I think its still Great in Portability ;)
Great comparison! Basically, there are zero websites optimised for 12.9... You get a lot of free white space :-) But for other apps, and video, I'm thinking it's the better choice... First device I've seen proper captions on (as in off the actual video).
I really want the 12.9 but I came to the realization I used my tablet almost exclusively in my bed. Screen is too big to be lying down with it. Gonna get the 11 💪🏾💪🏾
For real productivity, most people probably don't use the iPad Pro in portrait & they probably use it in landscape. Portrait & landscape are both better for certain use cases
You should have removed the matte protector on 12.9. The video should be divided into segments like productivity apps (like microsoft, procreate, drawig apps etc), browsing apps, gaming apps, socia media apps (fb, instagram, twitter etc), media apps (like netflix, youtube), just the navigation on ipad OS alonelike homescreen, files, app store).... then show landscape and portrait each demo.
I owned a MacBook but I’m deciding to buy an ipad for note taking and studying which size do u recommend. I’ve watched a lot of comparison and pros/ cons between 11 and 12.9. I found that the bigger has bending issues and fragile but wat better when multitasking. And 11 is for portability. What do u think should I get?
Does 12.9 inch mini led display on long hours of reading and watching online classes strains eyes because it has pwm is 11 inch ipad pro 2021 better because it doesn't use pwm pls clarify me
My question stems from an photo editor's point of view: May one *benefit* from Apple's Mini-LED display for the M1 iPad Pro 12.9' during post-processing (in Photoshop Lightroom)? Or will one only get to witness the "glory" brightness of 1000 nits and beyond *only* when *viewing* HDR content? I've been told that Apple's new XDR projects at around 500/ 600 nits during normal usage. Do you notice any micro-contrast detail improvements when editing on the 12.9' mini-LED vs the normal 11'? Please advise, and thank you in advance.
HDR effect will only show when viewing HDR content on apps capable of displaying HDR. For normal use with other apps, the whole displays is marginally brighter at the same brightness settings as on older iPad Pro, and contrast looks better. Between mini LED 12.9 vs normal 11, deciding factor should be size, at least to me.
Thanks for the review. After watching I realized that my decision to go with the 11 inch model is the correct one. I am not looking to replace my Windows workstation and Macbook Pro 13 inch but merely upgrading from my old Galaxy Tab S 10.5 so I realized from this video that the 11 inch actually is quite big in itself and it would not affect my productivity in any way. I could see that the difference in experience due to screen size are more or less about user's quirks and since I am not an artist by any measure, would not bother me much. So, really thank you for making the video :)
Elena Jo its because when i started using it for work, i found it too small. I noticed that with the 11” i gravitated towards using it for consuming content, and not creating. I bought the ipad pro for illustration and for my architecture review (making flashcards and multitasking), and i did neither of those too much because it was just too cramped. Teoh maybe didnt feel too bad about the screen size of the 11 because he does have a fallback of the 12.9. In any case, people should decide based on what they want to do more with it.
Interesting... A design of iPad Pro 12.9" resembles desktop alternative than the 11" does. 🤔 It looks like I'd most likely to get the 12.9" soon in a couple of months after paying off car payments. Thank you showing everything I need to know before my final decision.
Love the 11 inch. Can’t wait it return the 12.9 . This thing is too big and defeats the purpose of a tablet . If you will use it as your main device then buy it. Else 11 is so much better .

@@mikesrandomchannel Absolutely, I ended up going with the 11 inch mostly for size and comfort on the go, but the extra screen space is sorely missed as GarageBand gives u extra functionality and other apps usually benefit from a bigger canvas. In drawing apps I find that I have to pinch and zoom far too often, and it also hinders the creative process for me to not be able to see the rest of my drawing when zoomed in. If you’re on the fence, my advice is go big, the benefits far outweigh the negatives IMO
@@mikesrandomchannel no worries, I would definitely recommend holding it before buying, if possible. If you have no budget issues, then consider the 12.9. You can get the older 2018 iPad Pro since it's almost as powerful. Look for refurbished models as they are cheaper and come with one year warranty too. www.apple.com/shop/refurbished
I haven’t found the lack of a number row that bad on small iPad keyboards ever since they added the “key fling” feature to access the secondary characters in iOS 11 or so. Honestly, the number row looks a bit more awkward on the 12.9 inch version. Plus, it’s all kind of a moot point now that you can pinch the keyboard to minimize and swipe type.

Very nice video :) A simple one but very useful that almost no one else done before. Good job!
Seems like the video watching experience isnt much different between the two because of the aspect ratio.. or am I the only who feel that way?
the best i pad pro size comparison on the net! great job
thank you so much i needed this
Great comparison! Basically, there are zero websites optimised for 12.9... You get a lot of free white space :-) But for other apps, and video, I'm thinking it's the better choice... First device I've seen proper captions on (as in off the actual video).
Not necessarily for video - the aspect ratio is more squarish on the 12.9 and so the effective video image size, is not that much bigger than that 11.
Finally a good comparison, thanks for the video
I really want the 12.9 but I came to the realization I used my tablet almost exclusively in my bed. Screen is too big to be lying down with it. Gonna get the 11 💪🏾💪🏾
I really wish the IPad 11 was just slightly bigger. Even like 11.5 would do. It’s just too small but the 12.9 is too big. Urgh I’m bad at decisions.
Yes, many people said 12" would be perfect, in between
Very helpful, thank you!
We want more ! Like apps and games
Does leaning on the screen while writing makes a problem on the screen for each one?
Is there a setting to make the colors pop out more/richer to compensate for the matte screen protector washing out the colors?
There’s now way to adjust colours on the iPad
Thanks for the review. After watching I realized that my decision to go with the 11 inch model is the correct one. I am not looking to replace my Windows workstation and Macbook Pro 13 inch but merely upgrading from my old Galaxy Tab S 10.5 so I realized from this video that the 11 inch actually is quite big in itself and it would not affect my productivity in any way. I could see that the difference in experience due to screen size are more or less about user's quirks and since I am not an artist by any measure, would not bother me much. So, really thank you for making the video :)
@Deep Mind X Neither will the iPad so I do not know in what context you are talking about.
thank you for this Teoh! i have the 11” but thinking of getting the 12.9.
Why ?
Elena Jo its because when i started using it for work, i found it too small. I noticed that with the 11” i gravitated towards using it for consuming content, and not creating. I bought the ipad pro for illustration and for my architecture review (making flashcards and multitasking), and i did neither of those too much because it was just too cramped. Teoh maybe didnt feel too bad about the screen size of the 11 because he does have a fallback of the 12.9. In any case, people should decide based on what they want to do more with it.
Pep & Lemonade thank you !! This helped me to decide... and I think I’ll be getting the 12.9 inch
is there a part 2?
Ty for this video!
It's more like a comparison of how the iPad screen looks with and without paperlike.
That interface look so much better than the crammed up iPad os15 crap.
Very good comparison 👍
You should’ve added that screen protector on the 12.9 iPad Pro after making this comparison, but wonderful job nonetheless.
Thanks for the video. I see the script looks larger on the 11 inch which is quite an advantage inspire of less content.
Thanks for this work. Very very helpful to decide between the 2 sizes :-).
12.9 big white
Very good comparison, u can understand the viewers, keep up the good work
Very helpful thank you
Oh wow. Love this genuine video.
Kindly suggest me between iPad pro vs Samsung Tab S7+, which should I buy?
If you are not into drawing and graphic design, Samsung is better. Actually Tab S7 is better because battery life is much longer than S7+
@@teohontech7141 But I will be doing video editing. So samsung S7+ or ipad pro?
@@anishkumarsahoo1432 Maybe iPad Pro. Lumafusion app is very good. But definitely do some research on video editing on Android.
Thanks I will save up for one 🙏😇📦
Which size of ipad will be best for Collage??
Perhaps 11-inch because it's significantly more portable
Interesting... A design of iPad Pro 12.9" resembles desktop alternative than the 11" does. 🤔 It looks like I'd most likely to get the 12.9" soon in a couple of months after paying off car payments. Thank you showing everything I need to know before my final decision.
Anyone have a link to that wallpaper? Thanks!

Love the 11 inch. Can’t wait it return the 12.9 . This thing is too big and defeats the purpose of a tablet . If you will use it as your main device then buy it. Else 11 is so much better .
Need help law student here i have windows 6year old laptop ,i will use it as much as i can , but should i buy new laptop or ipad pro 11 inch main useage is lot of reading
Should be safe to go with iPad unless there's specific app you use that's only available on laptop.
Hello sir, what is model of Matt screen is on your iPad?
SuperShieldz. Bought from Amazon
i just really hate the screen to body ratio
I pad pro 12.9 amazing
I’m a college student so I want a good size to write my note and study from it and I can hold it or put it in my bag what u advice me to get 11inch or 12.9, I’m very confused😣
You can probably go with the 11 which is significantly more portable, and cheaper
12.9 seems like it’s more comfortable when taking notes
Very decent job with this comparison . (unlike 99% BS videos on youtube on this issue).
Dang I kinda wish I got the 12.9 inch
Hi, would you help me decide between 12.9 and 11..i am a student and looking for a note-taking Ipad...which one would you recommend???
You can probably go with the 11-inch
@@teohyc thank you for the response sir. I was really struggling to decide between the two, let's hope I would not regret purchasing 11 inch later.😇
Dampu Dulom did you buy it already? If so do you regret it ?? Because I want to get one for the same purpose and I am confused
@@elenajo8760 12.9 needs a table or surface to work most of time. You can hand hold 11-inch to draw so it's way more portable, and it's cheaper.
Teoh Yi Chie okay thanks !!
informative, thanks
Great video man!
Is it worth to buy a 2018 ipad pro 12.9 256g in 929usd ? or just buy 2020 ipad pro 12.9 128g in 949usd.
2018 is more worth it. More storage for less price.
for reviewing epub documents and taking notes, which one would you prefer and why? :)
You can do that with both tablets. Bigger one if you want to read the text documents larger
Can I have the other one?? Yes please
Very helpful video. Thank you!

But a bet boring

Very nice video..
Does 12.9 fits your bag
Yes
hopefully there is a i pad pro mini
Really detailed review of practical daily use experience. I greatly appreciate it!
Would love for you to do an updated comparison on iPadOS 14 using more 1st party apps - like Mail, News, Messages, Books, Notes, Music, Photos, and Calendar.
this is a terribly useful video
Most people don’t know that the aspect ratio is different on the 11 inch
I’ve noticed GarageBand is very different on different sized ipads
Hi Zaafar, would you say the 12.9 is better for GarageBand? One app I would definitely be using.
@@zaafarj Thanks for the super fast and informative reply, really appreciated!
@@mikesrandomchannel no worries, I would definitely recommend holding it before buying, if possible. Initially I decided on the 11 for the weight, but now I’m realizing that’s less important when I’m producing bc the weight difference is nothing once the device is on your lap or desk, and if it’s in your budget the screen size is a major advantage
@@zaafarj Yes that's a good point, hopefully I can get to an Apple store when the lockdowns start lifting...
Never Used Ipad, I am Planning For Ipad PRO 2020 for the 1st Time.
BUT i am Confused between 12.9 & 11inch. My use is for entertainment purpose No Budget issues. Will it be to big or 12.9 will be butter?🥰🥰🥰
If you have no budget issues, then consider the 12.9. You can get the older 2018 iPad Pro since it's almost as powerful. Look for refurbished models as they are cheaper and come with one year warranty too. www.apple.com/shop/refurbished

Instagram doesn't really care about web or tablet users.
