Didn't know Johnny Sins reacted to music
man does it all
Yep
Your favorite reactor
I think I'm happy I understand this reference
Ah I see your a man of culture as well
The name polyphia comes from Polyphony: the style of simultaneously combining a number of parts, each forming an individual melody and harmonizing with each other. I think this song is really more so of a flex for them but at the same time really represents their name quite well.
Thanks, Sabastian, I appreciate the information.
It was a flex, definitely. They've gone on record saying their entire group is a flex. Even went as far as to name the song goat 🐐
polyphery
Lmao it was actually just a random name because palisades stole their original band name, they talked about it at a show with the VIP crowd
Exactly. It's actually incredibly smart and not random in any way. Well thought out and written and timed out.
how many harmonics in this song?
polyphia: yas..
So I am assuming Yas has a lot of harmonics?
No lol. Its a meme. He means to say there are a lot of harmonics in this song
@@heylofellas Thanks, I never really did understand the Nobody: Everyone: memes.
@@MikeLevitsky i mean to be honest that's a pretty fair guess since polyphia does have a song called yas, so you may actually be right
Love how the smile goes away when they aren't showing the drummer
Well, its in the title of the video I guess. HA! Thanks for leaving a comment.
:))
"Hip-Hopy kind of Metal"
Polyphia definitely genre blends. Tim, writer and guitarist, listens to a lot of Hip Hop and does a phenomenal job giving the guitar a voice. In one of his how-it's-made videos he talks about specifically making the guitar sound like the rhythm of a rappers voice.
Thanks for the background info. He did a great job, because I definitely heard some hip hop influences.
Tim Henson specifically said triplets where the primary device he used from hip-hop. You nailed that in the first 5 seconds.
Most of their songs are made by one of their guitarists, Tim Henson, he makes it in a computer program and then they try to replicate the sound. Tim is regarded as one of the best guitarists in the world and is pushing the capabilities of guitar to new levels. Not to mention he is still very young. Can’t wait to see how they grow even more through the years.
I just read that about them the other day. Some guys were going back and forth on how that was “cheating” on the way to make music. I strongly disagree. I call it innovation. Either way it sounds badass and makes playing music that much more fun.
@@justinb1382 i mean with that process it's like doing somet complicated for the sake of doing it, it's not "oh shit that riff i just did was cool !" But you proceed to choose every notes one by one... Very robitic and soul less
Thanks for the info, they seem like a really talented band
@@_MaitreuPanda___ it's far from robotic and soulless. Each song has a very very clear and distinctive sound. A good example of robotic and soulless are the majority of dubstep and edm.
@@Noided88815 - dude it's 2021 people haven't listened to dubstep for like nine years
Frankly, I think you're wholly unqualified to comment on the nature of EDM as music considering you clearly know nothing about it.
"Those guitars, they're so random....but it's not random....like it purposely sounds random....but everybody's together.....yeah..." Lmao, Welcome to Polyphia bud(Hence the name btw lol) Always fun to see people's first exposure to them.
This song is order out of chaos.. perfection out of randomness. So clean to anyone who can hear. It's just great.
This song melts my brain every time I listen to it.
Excellent, man! These guys have a really unique sound.
They really do. I've been told they have other great stuff, but have not checked it out yet.
Nice reaction! I hope they will be back on your channel. I recommend you their song O.D.
It's from the same album as G.O.A.T.
Thanks! You are the second person to recommend O.D., looks like I am going to have to give it a listen!
@@MikeLevitsky Also their drummer did four playthrough on Meinl channel. Maybe u can watch that too. He did "G.O.A.T.", "O.D.", "Yas", and "Icronic"
This is the song I listen to before every Muay Thai practice
"It purposely sounds random, but everybody's together!"
Dillinger Escape Plan reaction when?
They actually have a drum playthrough of this, recommend you watching!
Thanks
I like your reactions. Very curious and earnest take.
Thanks, I am really enjoying these. It is exposing me to music I would not normally listen to. It’s also fun to share the joy of other people’s favorite songs and bands. I Love all types of music and am always amazed by the amount of talent and creativity in the world. I think something of praise can be found in any piece of art.
"A lot of triplets" its pretty much the best description for the whole song 😂
Can you react to drummer Chris Turner - High Horse (Vic Firth) ? He went nuts on that video. Probably one of the best drummers in the prog metal scene right now. Thanks!
Thanks for the suggestion, I will add it to my list!
You should check Jason Richardson - Tendonitis, or Luke Hollands video since he does the drums on it and has a more drum centred video for the song. Should be some cool riffs and beats in there.
Thanks, I'll check it out!
Intervals released individual guitar, bass, and drum playthroughs for the 3 singles (String Theory, 5-HTP, AND Lock & Key) they put out ahead of their new album. They're all super talented.
I agree, there is so much talent in the world, it's crazy!
You summed it up perfectly saying it's great but there is so many little things being added into every part of this song on any of the instruments. It's complexity and skill to play perfectly clean, hitting all the harmonics and string noises in time with the odd signatures make this song one of the biggest flexes I have heard in modern music.
It is quite the feat, I am looking forward to listening to some other tracks by Polyphia
Loving your format, super informative!
Would love to see you react to some Band-Maid songs, japanese band, Akane is the drummer and she does a lot with a fairly simplistic kit
I have never heard of Band-maid, which is good, I love to check out new (new to me) artists. Thanks for the recommendation.
@@MikeLevitsky Awesome to hear, any of their live videos from this year are a great place to start ua-cam.com/users/BANDMAIDvideos
Love the reaction!
Polyphia are incredible.
As a drummer, I know Chris Turner - 40 Roll (Drum Playthrough) will blow you away.
Trust me!
The guy doesn't use triggers, snap to grid, beat correction. Nothing! It's all mic'd/Raw.
He's a drummer making a solo project!
I've subbed!
Thanks John, this sounds amazing, I am adding it to my list of videos to react to!
"I don't know what I'm about to get myself into." A rabbit hole my friend. Welcome.
not random, its beautifully arranged chaos
Perfectly sounds random?
That might actually be one of the best definitions of Polyphia.
Man your reactions are great and it seems like you are super knowledgeable, you earned yourself a subscriber. I would love to see you react to meshuggah they may have one of the best drummers on the planet everybody talks about their song bleed but I love rational gaze and perpetual black second so hopefully you can check out them soon! But yeah awesome video man
Thanks Cubed3, I don't claim to know everything, but I do have quite a bit of experience under my belt. I have heard of Mesuggah, I am a little bit familiar with bleed, I know it has a crazy poly rhythmic double bass drum part. I have not heard any of their other songs and would love to check them out. Thanks!
"If there's a cool riff"
My boy, YES there is going to be cool riffs
"man this guitar part sounds so hard"
i love it
This song still feels very comprehensible. Everything falls in nicely. Meanwhile something like Animals As leaders - Brain Dance is just pure math / full of rhythmic conflicts lol. After listening to AAL my brain just starts melting.
“if there’s a cool riff” oh little did he know
They are so awesome nice sound to them
Glad you liked it Mike. Looking forward to see what direction your channel takes now.
Thanks for all those recommendations, really enjoyed them all. In the future I will definitely continue with the reaction videos, I have quite a growing list of suggestions, I will also continue to post drum covers and lessons as I get the time, and who knows what else.
“If there’s a cool riff or drum part”
Oh honeyyyy
Oh and I will get in before the army, check out Kai with winter sun especially sons of winter and stars,
Of course nightwish will follow that train,
And as for one of my personal favourite drummers check out Jason bowld who now plays for bullet for my Valentine but I know from pitchshifter he does a lot of sessions and did a lot of tuition
@@BurpleRX7 Thanks I will add these to my growing list of songs
Love the reaction, please do Polyphia O.D. reaction next. Or maybe even Clay Aeschliman O.D. drum play through on Meinl Cymbals channel.
I will for sure, I have had a few suggestions for this.
If you are interessted there is a drummer video made with the drummers cymbal maker that is really cool as well!
Anesthetize - by Porcupine Tree, Live in Tilburg is an must see. gavin harrison is an absolute monster.
Thanks so much for the suggestion I have added it to my list
Melodic Chaos! LUVLUVLOVED IT!!💯👏🤯
The drums we're hearing I believe are programmed but don't make the mistake I did and doubt that he can play it live and on the money. They already served me on UA-cam once. I basically said "yeah, I can program drums too" or something douchey along those lines and someone sent me a link do them playing live.
That's what happens when you see someone perform on a level that you'll never even reach and are triggered by it. Any time I run into a Polyphia hater I just understand them and can feel the threatened insecure ego in pain.
The only thing I figured out is that it's 4/4 and the snare comes in on 3. Other than that, I'm lost in the sauce.
What headphones do you use?
Clay Aeschilman (drummer) is a beast
Thanks for the comment, he was a lot of fun to watch. I will be taking a look at some of his other stuff soon.
do their song "O.D." too!
Will do, Thanks!
Fun fact the weird creepy intro and outro are modulated bells
Check out Extremophile Elite (live dvd) by Between the Buried and Me
Thanks Tyler
Damm, a doctor, an astronaut, a police officer and now Johnny Sins is a drum teacher, too.
By the way great video!
Thanks, I have gotten quite a few Johnny Sins comments. I don't watch porn so I did not know who he was, but googled him and I do kind look like him. Thanks for the comment. HA!
Can you react to Clay Aeschliman’s (Polyphia’s drumner) playthrough of “Icronic” on Meinl Cymbals’ channel? I can’t get that hihat work out of my head. He’s definitely my favorite drummer right now!
I have added it to my list. Thanks!
If you want a thicker tone, Check out Look but don’t touch - Polyphia
Will do thanks
I hear no hip-hop other than the compressed sound, you'll never see such syncopation in any hip-hop song ever.
Check out Chris Turner - 40 Roll. Top tier drummer making his first solo album and doing every track without triggers and in one take. It's masterful.
I have this on my list, a lot of people have been recommending this track. Thanks!
Random was the wrong word for it bro. This was CALCULATED
Check out demolisher by slaughter to prevail. Their drummer has a separate video of just drums
It’s on my list
Have you seen the badass Japanese drummer Nyango Star?
I have not! I will have to added it to my list of videos to check out. Thanks!
You should try Sleep Token. Phenomenal drummer. Jazzy feel! But die hard metal with an amazing singer
If you want to listen to a wizard on the drums Matt garstka from Animal As Leaders arithmophobia or Inner Assassins
Thanks, I am a little bit familiar with Matt. I will definitely check out these tracks as I have not heard them before.
G.O.A.T. - Equal parts flex and vibe.
I wish you had the understanding to realise how impossibly complex and genius this song really is. There's so much more happening than 90% of people can actually grasp.
I feel like its only beginner musicians who say that. Yeah its complex, and the members play together super well, but its really not some out of this realm magical thing like you make it sound.
@@bushman6964 You misunderstand, as my original point suggests. It's not the technical ability of an individual player that makes this so complex, it's the composition. This song "shouldn't" work, but it does, impeccably.
You heard Animals as Leaders? I recommend Red Miso, if you haven’t.
Slaughter to prevail drum playthrough of demolisher it would be sick to see your reaction
After a little research, I have added it to my list. I will not react to music with profanity in it, but I see the drum playthrough has no lyrics so I will do it.
So strange by them is great too
oh common Your name is Johnny.
awesome vid
If you want incredible dual guitar solos and great drum work, then you should check out another Japanese band 'LoveBites' you could start off with 'Holy War' Live.
Thanks for the recommendation, I will put it on my list.
You have to check out Chris turner

Nice!
Tim Henderson killed that guitar ! ;)
Since youre a drummer, I think you'd love chon
Thanks for the suggestion, I will add it to my list of tracks to listen to.
Hey man I think you should try reacting to "Euphoria" by polyphia its also one of their popular songs.
Thank you for the suggestion
Can you react to Faye Fadem's drumming from Thank You Scientist?
I will check it out. Thanks
@@MikeLevitsky just as a heads up, she is trans, so a lot of her stuff still appears under her old name, Joe Fadem.
"yeah it's so random. But its not random.." 4:42
Yeah, that's called math rock
What other bands would fall into this genre? I have listened to some add time stuff, dream theater, Arch echo type stuff but nothing like this.
@@MikeLevitsky Don Caballero for sure
@@MikeLevitsky Chon, Covet, Toe, American Football, tricot
@@MikeLevitsky maybe some animals al leaders even though I'm sure you know of them. On the more metal side there are Ne Obliviscaris and Beyond Creation that i can remember off the top of my head
@@MikeLevitsky Definitely Chon, and also The Fall of Troy. The genre was heavily influenced by bands such as Cardiacs ua-cam.com/video/OxhuQWKwbqY/v-deo.html&ab_channel=abcglobus
Ohh a drummer, you should check out crossfaith. Tatsuya Amano is a great drummer
Thank you, I will add this to my list of videos to check out. So many amazing musicians in the world.
@@MikeLevitsky full disclosure, i know nothing about what's technically good or bad in music. I can't play any instruments and have minimal knowledge of music theory. I just know to a layman he seems really good and has quite a following lol. Just a warning in case he's not as good as i sold him to be in my 1st comment
This is something I love about music and art in general. A person can be great in so many different ways, and there are a ton of artists that are not technically great but the art they create speaks to a certain kind of person. I like a lot of music that you might find boring or just ok, and I am sure that is true of your music as well. But I think that if we look hard enough, we can find something praiseworthy in any piece of art. I am sure I will find something to enjoy about Tatsuya's performance, thank you for taking the time to share your music with me!
Can you react Hail the sun 'human target practice' live? The singer also drummer too!!!
I'll look into it.
You remind of of the Norwegian MMA fighter Joachim 'Hellboy' Hansen.
No Danny Carey Pneuma Reaction?
Not yet, I am very new to this type of video, I mostly make lessons and covers
@@MikeLevitsky it is a must-see! I can't wait for your reaction! Danny Carey drum cam
YES drummer can always appreachiate Bass Solo s i knew it.
Tim Henderson the GOAT
i wouldnt say random id say organised chaos
You gotta react to clownc0re
"If there is a cool riff or cool drum part..................................."
Dawaj przyjacielu
Where are the periphery reactions? Best drummer (Matt Halpern) IMO... Theres a great live play through of the song satellites
not random, i think the word you are looking for is unusual :D
Ok we see you DefinitelyNotJohnnySins UA-cam channel
Never heard of this band, but like them a bit want to hear more drums guitar is ok ish
This was my first time hearing them
its nice to see johnny sins do music reactions as well

React to Extremophile Elite by Between the Buried and Me
I'll put it on my list, thanks
If math metal beat up jazz in the hood...
I think it is safe to say there is nothing random here.
You were correct with your last comment about them not being random...You just have to see the order within their chaos. Their beautiful disorder🌀♥
Check out Lorna Shore - To the hellfire
I subbed cause you look like my dad
The golden snitch
Sorry my friend, "random", it was npt.
That's what I said
@@MikeLevitsky was it though? You specifically said that it was very random. Look I love quirks and things random. But this piece is not random you can feel it in the live rendition of this piece. I still liked your reaction, it gives perspective. Not hating, just sharing an opinion.
@@OriginalVenomZA I said, "it sounds random, but it's not random". Especially on my first listen, so much going on. It is incredibly intricate, and these guys are amazing players. I did not think you were hating, just wanted to make sure you did not think I thought they sucked. I know a lot of work went into this piece, and after a few more listens I have come to appreciate it even more. Thanks for the feedback. :)
@@MikeLevitsky No worries my friend, maybe we just misunderstood eachother, and more so from my side. Still loved you vid. Will keep following your vids.
@@OriginalVenomZA Thanks for your support. I've been super busy, but have a bunch in the hopper that will come out soon.
Eat that BB King!
Poor bassist barely got any love in this reaction
Hey Ryan, you are right, HA! There is so much to take in on a first listening to something, I am sure I missed a ton of things. I do like bass, I am trying to get better at reaction videos and hopefully I will in the future. Thanks for the feedback.
Jonny sins be drumming now?
There is not a single random note in this..lol
Johnny sins really does it all!!
Ah yes, Tim Henderson xD
