the lead singer belongs to what I call "the great Gallagher bloodline" it's a HUGE Irish bloodline that goes back probably over a thousand years. and they all have that Gallagher look and you see them mostly in Liverpool and Manchester and Cheshire. all 4 beatles were members, they seem to be great entertainers and artists. Here's the recipe: - use an old Abbey Road 4-track desk (1960s dust optional). - use a big room - Record a set with a cassette player. - Run the result through one track. - The remaining three available go as thus: - track 2 bass and drums. - Track 3 the 2 guitars. - Track 4 the vocals. - No bouncing, no overdubs. - Only vintage microphones and amps to be used. - Mix the result with the cassette track slightly more in evidence. - Result.
While there is some discussion of Mavers being of the Gallagher bloodline talent, he is clearly on the high functioning end of the autism spectrum and displays a good bit of Fragile X Syndrome traits. His facial features certainly maintain a melting and emotionless appearance, and his autistic behaviors is of fidgeting and rocking fade once he becomes focused during songs. No it's not. I think you have to actually experience what it's like to be in the shoes of the man in order to understand the significance of what he was talking about. I'm not saying I'm gifted, but I might just be, who knows? Maybe you are, too. And maybe I understand Lee's predicament -- the musician's predicament. I'm into music myself. He wants to be faithful to the sounds that he hears in his head, the way they sound to him from within. The song gets written by itself. Sometimes the song comes, sometimes it does not. When it does not, he is bound to take drugs for inspiration. I understand him. Some people are gifted with music like him. It just comes to them. Some scientists and inventors are like that. As for as going back to the main highway/backbone of music, he's talking about rootsy music. American black music of R&B, jazz, folk, early rock. In the U.S we have a band called the Roots. Then it can go further back, if we want to; classical, tribal, other music.
No it's not. I think you have to actually experience what it's like to be in the shoes of the man in order to understand the significance of what he was talking about. I'm not saying I'm gifted, but I might just be, who knows? Maybe you are, too. And maybe I understand Lee's predicament -- the musician's predicament. I'm into music myself. He wants to be faithful to the sounds that he hears in his head, the way they sound to him from within. The song gets written by itself. Sometimes the song comes, sometimes it does not. When it does not, he is bound to take drugs for inspiration. Maybe it's just projection, but I suppose I relate to Lee especially on this level because I, too, have been recently getting way deep into drugs lately, in search of that golden inspiration, which, ironically, though it's basically common sense -- but common sense fails you sometimes when you alter your mind -- ironically, it doesn't come. The drugs just put it off. They'll just get you caught up in a vicious cycle of procrastination, dissatisfaction and yearning. And before you know it, it's been thirty years and you never managed to get it all together.
I am tripping on acid as I write this. But, guess what? I'm not much different from who I am naturally. The predicament stays.
And the knowledge that I should do something about it immediately stays too. Else, I'll wake up and I'll be fifty years old and my first album is still unfinished...
It's actually very simple. He just says the ultimate source of creativity is a divine energy. 'The muse' as we call it. And the energy he gets.. he respects so much.. and he loves it.. That's why he wants to keep it in its purest form. The La's music is Lee Mavers' soul speaking. He's very proud of that. I agree, because that's what makes The La's so special: the purity if the music (the lyrics, the sound, everything). He also says that he wants to bring that 'purity in music' back in the scene. But.. if you want to explain these things, some people will just say it's "spacy".. while in fact it's very logical and obvious.
