Hi April! I really enjoyed this workout! It did bring up one question for me though, on a subject that nobody seems to cover. While I can walk on my left foot, it has metal in it. As a result, I cannot bend my foot much without causing severe pain. Is there a way to exercise the calf from a seated position that doesn't involve aching your foot? I know there are others like me who know they need to exercise their calf on their bad foot side so this answer may help much more folks than just me! I walk frequently, but the foot does not allow the calf to move like it should, so I can feel it getting weaker. Any help would be greatly appreciated! 😊

While sitting, imagine pressing the ball of your foot into the ground without actually moving the foot or ankle. Tighten the calf muscle as much as you can, hold for a few seconds, and then relax. This can isolate and strengthen the calf muscle without requiring ankle movement. Another option is to use a resistance band -- loop the band around the ball of your foot (or even the arch if that’s more comfortable) while keeping your ankle in a neutral position. Gently push against the band with your whole foot, but keep the motion small to avoid bending the foot too much. This engages the calf without overstressing the foot. I hope these are helpful.
