I am so glad you curved your backdrop. The impact of that is enormous when it comes to presentation; for yourself. family and visitors alike.

Congratulations!. You just experienced and overcame the fear of using acrylics to create bodies of water. There is a learning curve to the acrylic mediums and you are well on your way with a new found confidence. Confidence will take you far in this hobby.
Furthermore, Acrylic Mediums are easily fixed with another layer - upon another layer. The compatibility of acrylic paint and gloss mediums is also quite remarkable.
Respectively, I am impressed that you kept at it and sanded down and repainted the surface - and did not give up. This is how the game works as it leads to a new found success. It took me about eight layers to finally get my water to the way I liked it over a period of several months.
P.S. Cleaning it only takes a gentle wipe with a damp cotton cloth and it looks brand new again!
    Cheers ~ Boomer. 👍😉

I am not an artist by any means, but I think your water looks fine. Not everyone's technique is translated to everyone. The best thing to do (and you probably did this) is to recreate the technique you're trying to emulate on a much smaller footprint (like on a 4 x 4" material like your using) and see if the results are comparable. Some times there are factors such as temp, humidity; etc. that can effect the final results.

Since my cuts weren't very good I am noticing your cuts of the hardboard also were bad, and I fell less bad about my fascia.

Greetings from clifton springs 😂 curious, what made you choose H.0. Scale? Seems like with the amount of scenery your doing N scale would have netted you a higher scenery to track ratio it looks like your after. Just wondering.

@@patterrana1581 I've just always been an HO guy. I have very close friends that are N scalers so I'll be as respectful as I can... But it's just not a scale that's ever appealed to me. HO has always just looked "right" to my eye. Lol
I'm pretty happy with this ratio of track to scenery honestly... I feel like I've got a really good balance, there's not tracked crammed in every inch of the place, but it's still a good operating scheme. I actually only chose to use half my basement when I could have very easily taken up more if I wanted that ratio to be different.
Funny enough, I think when I start doing the Clifton Springs area on my layout you'll start to see that the track to scenery ratio actually tilts heavily in scenery's favor. That's going to be the deepest scene on the layout, with about 4 full feet of scenery depth (aisle to backdrop) and just a single track with one industry spur for DeLong. 🙂

@@FGLKPaul Looking forward to seeing that huge scenery only section. You've got the artist's eye / perspective.
