Thanks for the shout-out Paul! :)
The leaves look insane in HD here.
I really needed a buddy like you! It can be hard to find people to vibe with in this hobby and despite the communities, it could get lonely in a crowded room. It's important to keep your ears open and be willing to find opportunities to find a good group of inner-circle confidants. Had fun in Pen-Yan btw ;)
Also, if my channel doesn't get views from this, I'm going to be so pissed.

The stuff you talked about is stuff I try to point out to people. Subtle imperfections and stuff that's not modeled often.

      Thanks Bill,
My line of thinking really isn't about "getting there" though. It's about continually learning and getting better. No matter your current skill level. 😁

Dear Tier Line Customs, great vid! Love the footage you’ve shown of the late fall reference of the different sections you’re modeling. Humbly think you have made an excellent point with this message of ‘becoming a better modeler.’ Don’t mind you showing your ballast coloring or the leafy turnout. That’s just great and beautiful footage. Definitely wanna underscore the importance of Andy Dorsch’s vid. Especially on the subject of ballast colors, especially on those tracks that see less rigorous maintenance, those color shades can indeed differ much more significantly than our imagination can even comprehend. That is just another reason why modeling from photos is such a great resource. And of course it’s a great thing when those pictures come from the modeler’s camera. That makes it even more interesting.
Love the wire trees, they’re an absolute game changer, even with the super trees limb method. The versatility of those trees is something that modelers can only discover for themselves by taking up the tools and indeed develop their very own techniques. Don’t think it will set you back in time, wire trees are also great to do some meditative modeling away from the layout. As soon as I found my ‘twist’ I like to go wire up some foliage at liberty. You’ll be amazed at how quickly you’ll be able to build these trees, after you’ve built a bunch of ‘m.
Very much like the way you planted the ‘empty’ trees. Some remaining leaves might be a way to indicate the late fall. Don’t wanna be too critical, but the kinda grey color you put on the trees looks a bit too flat to me. Especially in autumn those trees will be showing some moss on their north facing sides. Some branches will look dark wet, some will look dry. With a bunch of grays you might be able to even further add shades on these trees.
Love the layout, especially those shots in which the camera kinda crosses the tracks and takes a peek into the depth. Beautiful how the combination of the background trees and foreground trees make the scene pop, and the transition towards the backdrop enhances the illusion of depth.
Looking forward to seeing your next episodes. Cheerio
