28 years ago I worked at a Wendy's in Portland Oregon. All the employee's loved to order Frosty's on our breaks in the Summer. Everyday we would carefully clean and sanitize the Frosty machine with a special brush kept in a bucket under the machine. It was clearly labeled "Frosty Machine Only" We had an employee who did not read or speak much English. One day she came back from cleaning the toilets carrying the "Frosty Machine Only" brush! The manager asked if she had use this brush in the restrooms before and she said yes. No employee there at the time every ate another Frosty.
Just order a new brush and sanitize the machine... multiple times over. Plus restroom cleaning should have a bucket of tools in for the employee to use to clean said washroom, not use tools found elsewhere in the restaurant. "a special brush kept in a bucket under the machine" - So what made that employee think that bucket is for restroom cleaning? But since this is 28 years ago, the common sense of Americans would be 'whatever'. If this happened in modern day and not in America, you'd bet that the employee may be suspended or even fired.
They maintained a "reasonable" price by shrinking the Frosty to nearly 1/3 of it's original size. The $1 Frosty I ate as a kid was 20 ounces. Todays $1 Frosty is 8 ounces.
I'm surprised they didn't use emulsifiers to increase the temperature range, a little bit of gelatin could've extended the duration during which customers could enjoy the frosty considerably. Or maybe they did...
Frosties are definitely not the same as they were in the 90s, you could stick it in the freezer for a week and you could still eat it. Can't do that with today's Frosty.
I like both flavored frosties, but I live in the Midwest so I'm likely not going to order it in the months of November through February unless I'm going to take it home.
I wish Wendy's would push this product a little more. Like ad campaign saying, "Yep, we still got em". 'Cause I honestly forgot they still had them. What a fun treat.
