How Farms Work by Ryan Kuster is a UA-cam channel based in rural Potosi, Wisconsin. Our mission is to teach those who didn't grow up on a farm what the farming life is like. These videos show the Kuster family working together raising cattle and crops. We believe everyone who wants to know more about farming should be able to share the farming experience with us and we look to educate the world on many essential agriculture topics.
How Farms Work takes place on ~1,100 acres with around 75-200 cattle at any given time. Four John Deere tractors are currently used on the farm, which are a 4020, 4640, 7600, and 8235R.
The lawn mower idea was brilliant!!! It’s not stupid if it works even if it may look like it 😂
It’s stupid because the row cleaners on the planter would have pushed the piles right out of the way. That’s literally what they’re made to do.
The four legged help you have is wonderful. He just wanted to make sure the seed was in deep enough for his standards.
Again this is why it's worth the money to have a nice heated shop in the midwest!! Ypu guys couldve been working on it all winter instead of having to wait for warm weather. Its worth the money
I did not think the lawn mower was going to work but that was definitely fun to watch along with the new planter set up

Great idea using the lawnmower for the hay clumps. Good catch with the blower fan, that could've been bad.
True that! Sometimes makes me wonder that being in a cab with the air on, tunes on and whatever else on, one doesn't become aware of something going bad by the sound it makes before it destroys itself and then a sensor catches it!

We have a dixie chopper mower that looks almost exactly like that and I run all kinds of things over with that thing. I knew those clumps of hay wouldn't be nothing.

The new tractor and planter setup look good. The planter is a little on the point. The hitch could be higher.

A bit of time setting up but cruising after that.... ever thought about adjusting the front wheel width so they run in between the rears? Less ridges and more uniformed. But if your doing rowcrop work it would be a pain. 😮😊. Stay safe 🏴
The row runs between the real wheels. You don’t want the tire running in the rows.

We put a lot of hours on a 7920. Good machine. Are you planning to place any form of liquid fertiliser with the planter?

Had trouble with stalks clumping. Used a zippo. Problem solved

Blower is for the air vacuum system
That planter is not set level! U gotta run a level bar/row unit. Your nosed in alot. The wing sections are not putting seed in as deep either, i can see that from your video, set outsode rows in 1 notch deeper and as you move to middle put them in a half notch on your wings,, or you could jusy set the telemetry of your pull type planter correctly? Sheesh, its new i get it, but c'mon your plantong into powder. Let it rain and maybe stop tilling your soil to dust?
