I recently told a girl who really brought the best in me that I liked her and turns out she was really into me last semester but she moved on to someone else over summer break. Surprisingly I didn’t tear up and yes there was some sad emotion but I still felt it deep down. I tried to continue on and made myself believe that I was happy, I was singing songs as I was walking and being myself. That’s what I kept telling myself this past week.
I’ve been following Julien’s content for some time now and did a lot of inner work to finally like myself and be ready to tell her I liked her only for her to say she moved on. This video hit hard especially when Julien asked the guy at the beginning why he was protecting himself. Idk what it was but it felt like my conscious told myself that question and instantly I fell into tears. I didn’t realize after the rejection, I kept hiding away my emotions cause I thought I was fixed and whole, yet I didn’t realize that I was far from whole and that rejection really hurt me. This video was exactly what I needed to hear to help myself realize that I had been hiding my sadness from myself. Thank you Julien, you really don’t understand how much of a difference you’ve made in my life.

I challenge that definition of insanity. For myself, insanity is doing the same thing over and over, knowing exactly what will happen, but doing it anyway. It comes from that protective child inside that is convinced I’m not good enough. It is not lying, it’s just wrong, as children (and adults) often are. Helping that inner child feel safe is the only way I’ve found to stop that inner child from being protective.

The message of awareness cuts right to the heart of the issue. We have held these protective hiding behaviors to be necessary and useful for so long that they are typically below your threshold of awareness. The first step is bringing them to light without shame or guilt, then releasing then and replacing their manifestations in your life.

Great video. I felt alone in my journey after a huge life change. It''s a breath of fresh air to see others overcoming their hurdles too. I thought at first the language was abrupt and direct but I now get it. It breaks negative feed back loops and negative self talk. The quick answers bypass walls we put up. I like how he corrects posture, eye contact and verbal projection. We often don't see how broken we come off. Mental manifesting into physical. Great work brother.

I see accepting social anxiety -
where we are then forced to wiggle our way through life. When we accept anxiety as part of life, instead of fawning, self censorship - we will introduce new strategies, allowing ourselves to zoom out and see big picture when we are zoomed in, we'll try out Viking scream and strategies that we usually label as evil and wrong, sick or not allowed in toxic situations.
Yeah, I see being afraid of being "weak" as toxic shame - it is motor inside that keeps social anxiety ongoing. Then trying not to show being vulnerable - which does not work in real life.
And external factor - where abusers hypnotize us into subservience and being shy and closed.
If we accept social anxiety we will allow ourselves to try out new strategies and that will make difference when we handle difficult people and difficult situations.

What I've found right now is that we all had decided to be weak with the aim of making someone else happy. Which means we are not weak actually, we feel relatively weak, and carry it with us to everywhere. We decide in advance that we are weak, why, because of one relationship we had with someone. Let's go with my example, me and my older brother. Even though he is not powerfull than me, actually weaker cause he was more scared to be hurt, I accepted his pressure and oppression. I said ok, I'm not gonna create any confliction, I'm not gonna push you by being me and experience your humiliations, ok I'm weak I can't get trough you, let's be happy togetter and continue our relationship. That's important because it shows that we (you) feel relatively weak. We are not weak. We have decided to act weak in one situation and carried to everywhere. In every occasion it's up to us to act powerful or weak.

also, it is a lot easier to be authentic in front of a crowd that is there for authenticity. if I am in front of another person, they may not be expecting that level authenticity, or it may intimidate or scare them

    • @msc8382
      @msc8382 Рік тому

The point being is that TO YOU specifically, it shouldn't matter. It just means they're dealing with their own demons making your character you present seem unrelated to your inner world (to them). That's not a reason to be in anxiety (for you), its a reason not to respect the other people right off the bat. Lack of respect does not mean you disapprove of them. It just means they haven't shown they're capable of understanding your values.
Its their own issue if they're intimidated or scared, and if you're aware of this, then you can take leadership in their stead. Wouldn't you say that if you can enact on yourself that makes the interaction authentic enough to do it, worthwhile? Either you're worth fighting for, and therefore, anyone else you accept in your interactions... or you're not, in that case.. time to let go of the past.
Can't help the unwilling overcome their problems. And even if they're willing, I doubt they speak from the same motives because if they did, you'd be able to connect with them authentically.
Its in-authenticity that's the self defense mechanism, not the reverse. Its called dissociation in psychology.

Its interesting how a lot of what we carry now is linked to a specific time or event in childhood. Have yet to pinpoint mine but its linked to the anger of my father who incidently is a severe worrier, and my mother with undiagnosed mental illness for all my childhood wasnt a person i could relate or get close too as there was a language barrier and also she wasnt fully there. Since my mother went on medication though it took many years of convincing am i able to communicate with her better. And my father whose traits i have including anger i can start to understand more as i learn the source of mine,

I think authenticity includes holding dominant frame. Otherwise, you're in someone else's frame. IMO, these students - though I admire their courage - their behaviors suggest to me that their frame will be tested out in the real world. And *that* is when the strength or weakness...or perhaps *legitimacy* of their authenticity will be revealed.
Thought experiment (& only that, I would NEVER do this, never ever ever lol 😆) : if you genuinely & sincerely believe Russia is justified - & you go out wearing a Russian Pride shirt in a blue state city. What a test of authenticity, right?

I don't think it needs to be dominant. As in somehow over someone else's frame, but you have to be conscious that your frame is yours and the other guy's frame is his and you can confidently keep your own frame and there's no need to get into the other guy's frame to make him like you and accept you because you have problems liking and accepting yourself fully.

by dominant what you actually mean is having control in oneself always in the sense that in any situation you will be 10/10, but it won't be forced it will be experienced, with newer and more novel experiences, the 10/10 will come naturally, but you have to get yourself in those experiences.

This was recorded in Germany… But people are people. I’ve done live events in over 40 countries, and the issues people have beneath the surface are always the same.
