Matti, I’ve been keeping up with you newer uploads but this tutorial is just one of the best you’ve done to date! Honestly this demistifies the color grading woohoo a lot 🤙🏻
THE most informative video you've done so far Matti - loved being able to see you grade step-by-step. Grading is something I've really been struggling with - matching cameras, in particular, has been the bane of my life! But this video has definitely helped, and even made me excited to grade my next project!
a bomb tutorial. huge help to say the least. thank you so much for your conciseness! sometimes filming neutral on all cameras just doesn't do it...

You are by far the most talented person for making drone footage blend in with the edit, I was really looking forward for this one ! Congrats on the baby !
Omg you raised awareness in me ... never thought of this in detail to be honest... i mean im just starting out but omg, what a difference!!!! Thank you!
The best tutorial about Color Correction I've ever seen! Thanks you Matti! You're inspireing and help me so much with your Videos! That makes my work a lot better!Greets from Germany René
Thanks for the helpful video. I don't know whether any one pointed this out, but it would be helpful to point out which area of the clip you're referring to when you mention Shadows, Midtones and Highlights. It's a small thing, but quite helpful in understanding what you're looking at when making adjustments. Lastly, how do we know when there's enough contrast? Thanks again.
Hey matti! Could u make a vid on color grading? I see so many tutorials on how to color correct after you applied a LUT but non on how to start from scratch. Im want to apply my photography style to my vids, and want to know how to. Thanks!
This is pretty much the best colour grading tutorial I've seen, period. I now understand waveforms, colour grading beyond LUTs, matching cameras... Thanks!
Hai Matti. Tx for bringing this tutorial to the world. I am having same issues, but most tutorial explaning with compare views (Prem Pro CC 2018 above). Your one....with the basic logical explanation, step by step, no non sense and educative. Tx bro.....so many. Just answer my problem right away and improve my Lumetri Color knowledge. God bless...... (Warm regards from Jakarta, Indonesia)
This is good stuff! I still struggle with matching shots a lot. I've been using the RGB Parade to really help me make sure things are close and not too far off from each other. Color correction and Colorblindness do not mix at all! Do you know if there's a way to mask out just someone's face so that only their face shows up in the scopes? Matching skin tones is the hardest for me, because I've never been able to tell if someone is blushing or not, so if their face is too red or green I don't know. If I could do that, at least the RGB Parade would let me know. Good luck with parenthood btw! Hope all is well. :)
I literally just finished matching some drone clips to my C100 ii, not as cool as the C300 )':, and now I'm definitely going to have to go back and check my work! hah Thanks for the awesome tutorials and videos! You provide enormous inspiration!!
Thanks for a useful video! I'm having trouble matching footage of two cameras and this helped a lot. Could you give some tips or maybe make a video about matching footage where there are people in both shots? It's just so difficult to find the same skin tones and match the color of a shirt from one camera to another...
Enjoy your channel and your work, great stuff. Question for you regarding your videos do you plan out your shots before getting to a location or is mostly everything thought out on the spot. Another question where do you get all of the great music you use or what do you recommend. thank you
Thanks bro, only problem I see here is that both shots are de-saturated and a little flat... What about trying to match a shot when you get shots with picture profiles already embedded? For example when you didn't set the drone for D-log or Cine... Thanks!
I have checked various other videos for this subject. It is the best by far. A quick question popped into my mind though. What about camera settings before actually shooting the clips? It would really ease the pain during color grading, I believe. For instance, in my case, a scenario of an interview with two cams (GoPro Hero4 + Canon 80D) with 5500K lighting. any suggestions for cam settings?
@travelfeels, im thinking about buying the phantom 3 pro. anything I should know about it? any things you don't like? (besides the customer service haha)
Thankyou for ur tutorial... I would be thankful if u would make a video on video editing laptops or desktop... Like minimum specifications required for premiere pro cc to work without lagging.... Thank You
Can you do the same Tutorial for FinalCutProX ? Because the GUI Interface is very different from Premiere Pro i don‘t use :( That would be so great Matti
Matti do you calibrate monitors separately for pure photographic work and video work seems one is heading for rgb and the other is heading for CMYK output?
Thanks for this video. I really struggle to try to match the drone to the A6000 to the action cam. Gonna start incorporating this into my editing process. Hope you're having a blast with the new baby! Take care.
Are there any disadvantages of using Sony a6500 as A-Camera and Sony FDR-AX53 4k camcorder as B-Camera while shooting interviews? Will it be problematic to sync the colors/grading or any other issues afterward while editing? Thank you!
How about using a colour reference card? Sure, you can’t put a card in the sky but you could at least get closer. Also, shouldn’t you correct first and then grade?
Why didn't splite screen instead of going from one clip to another? Also can I use one adjusment layer for whole clip and another for all second camera footage?
I just downloaded Premiere Pro myself, and I don't have too much effects (I have color correction, white balance, lumetri color, etc), but I don't have Lumetri Scopes or the Waveforms. Do I have to download them??
There's also another Scope that I find useful in Premiere (I don't know what it's called now, but it's similar to the Vectroscope and you can have it next to the other scopes). It's basically a Vectroscope on Crack, creating a much easier to read representation of colors that might help some people. Doesn't hurt trying it out.
i dont quite understand how you add the look first and then correct after, how are you supposed to see the look properly if everything is so flat, compared to if you color correct first and then add the look after but i understand why you would add the look first tho because you are choosing from the beginning how you want the tone & color scheme you want your production to have and then color correct the clips to match. I just find its a bit difficult. Im accustomed color correcting first and then adding the look but i guess this method is much faster.
TravelFeels can you explain how to color correct. I dont understand, everytime i try to color correct my gopro photage it always get too blue or too green. And i don't know what edit program i should buy, Pr or FCPX? Help meeee Love your channel
Great video and congrats on the newborn! Matching colors between different cameras is one of the biggest concerns I've had with my recent videos. Thanks!
Yeah, we've noticed unmatched (especially drone) footage quite a lot recently! We spend probably a quarter of our edit time on just colour grading and correcting.... makes such a difference! 👍🏻😁
O.M.G! Thank you. This is exactly what I have been struggling with. Your the best Matti. I will reward both of us by purchasing you color grade course, today. One question though. Sooooo you used the adjustment layer only for the purpose of adding the LUT? I have been using adjustment layers to adjust groups of similarly shot clips, in between layers. But I often end up with a ton of tracks, depending on how much conditions change, how many cameras, or multiple shooting days. Is that wrong? Oh also I make the colour corrections to the adjustment layer, not the clips. Seemed smarter that way. 😬 If all these question are answered in the course, sorry. Lol
Just bought your LUT's ^^ I can't wait to try them out haha THANK YOU for this video I never really got what the Lumetri Scopes are :P This helped SO much :D
TRAVEL FEELS IS BACK!!! We survived the first 2 weeks of being parents. Thumbs up for the Dad life!
Heck yessssss!
Congratulations Matti + mom. Same situation here.
Damn it's just different and something new.
Keep up the good work ;)
Onnea! Maailma on näköjään pieni. Juuri tuossa selvisi, että veljesi on ollut Australiassa vaimoni veljen kanssa mm. matkailuautoilemassa.
Congratulations! Super helpful tutorial
Hah thats funny! For Finnish people the world is very small 😂 Not too many of us
Just remember to select the adjustment layer when you change the LUT intensity ;)
I peeped that as well. *insert smirk emoji here*
I kept wondering why he added the adjustment layer if he was gonna apply the color effects to each clip
Matti, I’ve been keeping up with you newer uploads but this tutorial is just one of the best you’ve done to date! Honestly this demistifies the color grading woohoo a lot 🤙🏻

Very rare to see a video like this where someone really explains this. Great work!
Omg you raised awareness in me ... never thought of this in detail to be honest... i mean im just starting out but omg, what a difference!!!!
Thank you!
Thank you so much for this video! I've been struggling with trying to CC my GH5 and Hero 4 Black. This gives me a lot of things to try out next time!
Yea take these and practice practice practice!
This is a life saver! I’m new to multiple camera editing and have been struggling so hard getting both sets of footage to match in post!
One of the best color grading videos I've ever seen, period. Thank you so much for this.
Thank you for this tutorial. You're one of the best colour graders on youtube.
The best tutorial about Color Correction I've ever seen! Thanks you Matti! You're inspireing and help me so much with your Videos! That makes my work a lot better!Greets from Germany René
Hey Matti. Wow! This may actually be the most useful video on the entire internet. Thank you so much.
Thanks for explaining this in a straight forward way! Nice and easy to understand.

This really makes me look back in shame and start taking more care of grading shots to fit and complement each other. Keep up the good work!
Congrads again on being a dad! Good luck! Awesome video!

Awesome man! 🙌
Exactly the tutorial I was looking for. Thanks Matti
One of the best videos i've seen lately. It really helped me to realise somethings i've ben struggling it! thank you so much
Thanks for this video! I'm trying to learn and experiment with color correction/grading currently, so this is just what I needed! Super helpful.
Glad to see you back bro! And congratulations again!
Thank you!! 🙏
Super informative I struggle with the difference between my GoPro and DSLR. I'm going to try this out

great topic, havent seen many others talk about this important aspect

I'm a FCP user but I learned a couple of great things here! Thanks
I would be lost without you. Thanks for being on UA-cam

The scope and waveform tip saved me big time
This is a great video, it definitely deserves more than 13k views
Thanks for sharing! this just totally change my workflow!
Great! Awesome tutorial, straight to the point.
What do you think about the CINEMATCH plugin. Can you recommend it?
i live close to Ålesund and yeah its super pretty and i really want a drone to take some nice drone shots of the different areas

Great tutorial! Is it still possible to match the colors without using the LUTs?
This is what I was looking for FOREVER.
@travelfeels, im thinking about buying the phantom 3 pro. anything I should know about it? any things you don't like? (besides the customer service haha)
thanks
Thankyou for ur tutorial... I would be thankful if u would make a video on video editing laptops or desktop... Like minimum specifications required for premiere pro cc to work without lagging....
Thank You
Super helpful, mate. Thanks man!
Could you do a tutorial on Hitfilm 4 Express
How do you change the settings individually since the lut is applied only to the adjustment layer?
Welcome back, Matti!
Its good the be back 🙌
Can you do the same Tutorial for FinalCutProX ? Because the GUI Interface is very different from Premiere Pro i don‘t use :( That would be so great Matti
Matti do you calibrate monitors separately for pure photographic work and video work seems one is heading for rgb and the other is heading for CMYK output?
Welcome back, Matti! Many thanks for this video... needed this breakdown!
Thanks!
Great video! What specific track is this? Heard it on a previous video and loved it!
Thanks for this video. I really struggle to try to match the drone to the A6000 to the action cam. Gonna start incorporating this into my editing process. Hope you're having a blast with the new baby! Take care.
Do it! and we are!
great tips as always! really helpful. Do you have a way to match cameras with lesser quality like 720 vs 1080?
Are there any disadvantages of using Sony a6500 as A-Camera and Sony FDR-AX53 4k camcorder as B-Camera while shooting interviews? Will it be problematic to sync the colors/grading or any other issues afterward while editing? Thank you!

Great video! not alot of videos that are straight forward on this topic!
Thanks man! Really appreciate it
Your videos are getting better and better. lot a really good advice, thank you man! keep it up!
So true.
Thank you!!! Never thought about that until now.. thank you so much. 👍
Thank you so much for this Matti!
Great tutorial Matty! I know color matching clips has been something I've struggled with and I'm sure I'm not the only one. This video helped a lot!
This is fantastic. Thank you! Very informative.
0:27 I immediatelly watched it and I couldn't believe it, maybe his grandma edited the video...🤣
Hey Matti any difference between tweaking the shadows & highlights on the color wheel vs tweaking them on the basic correction?
cool!!!
just a question: do these color correction methods also work on 2d and 3d animations?
Do your LUTs work in Final Cut Pro? I want to get them but want to make sure they work.
Insanely helpful!
Why didn't splite screen instead of going from one clip to another? Also can I use one adjusment layer for whole clip and another for all second camera footage?
You don't mention FCPX concerning CineLUTS package. They aren't compatible?
I just downloaded Premiere Pro myself, and I don't have too much effects (I have color correction, white balance, lumetri color, etc), but I don't have Lumetri Scopes or the Waveforms. Do I have to download them??
There's also another Scope that I find useful in Premiere (I don't know what it's called now, but it's similar to the Vectroscope and you can have it next to the other scopes). Love your channel
can you match two different clips with two different iso settings?
Really appreciate this video, I have been struggling to match these for a while
Amazing! This helped me understand color grading in general so much!
with which software do u record your screen?
Great video and congrats on the newborn! Matching colors between different cameras is one of the biggest concerns I've had with my recent videos. Thanks!
Yea its definitely not easy but with practice and scopes you can get it for sure!
Thanks for the video! Very good!
Yeah, we've noticed unmatched (especially drone) footage quite a lot recently!

Yea color grading is such a huge step 🙌
you sir saved my life
And how can I color grade my Videos if I don't have a programm which support LUTS and when my camera can't film in Log Format?
Hope everything is going well with the babes! 💙
Great tutorial! Thank you!
congrats Bro. welcome to fatherhood!
does this work if your creating multi camera source sequence?
O.M.G! Thank you. This is exactly what I have been struggling with. Your the best Matti. I will reward both of us by purchasing you color grade course, today.

Dude, that intro edit gives me goosebumps lol
This is a really good topic this has been a issue to keep consistent in editing
You're a life saver!
