Agreed, I didn't realise either until 4:30 when he said so. I think adding "Seikoak" to the video title would have been merited. A mark against @watchfinder
Yup, my thoughts exactly. But if the thief has no plans to use violence, you lose $450-$500, not $50k-$1M+ and have to deal with insurance if you have it Otherwise you're getting wetted up over $500 lol
You'd get robbed, then when they realise it ain't what they thought you'd get stabbed. Then when they realised it's a Seiko they'd come back and stab you again if there's any justice in the world.
Zero chance. Luxury watch thives are organised they know exactly what they look for they're not gonna lose time on 500 seiko. You're absolutly saying bs.
I am all for it. It is high time we leave Genta rest in peace. This Seiko mod is the perfect demonstration that this style of watch does not command the eye watering price tags Patek and AP think they should. Audemars Piguet should live it to the likes of Seiko and focus on making good looking, very high quality modern timepieces. A bit like Formex, but better.
I’m a fan of well done homages. Like you said, most people can’t afford a $150K watch. Having the option to buy a well-done quality homage gives the buyer room to breath while they position themselves in life to potentially own the real deal later down the road.
Finally, you make the content that I have wanted for so long. First, I came to the Modified Seiko watch in 2021 and had no idea how good/quality/worthy the watch was for the collector myself. Thanks for the video.
I'm all for it. Modding is a part of the hobby for those who want to get closer to their watches. Seiko makea an octagonal watch in the form of an astron, blue tapestry and all.
So this watch is a Seiko mod? So all parts of the watch minus movement, case, bracelet, dial, hands, and crown are not made by Seiko factory? Because when a watch is called a Seiko mod I think like an original Seiko watch modded with after market dial, hands, glass, even bezel but this is like Alie Express watch if you change the brand to something like Pagani.
Everything in life copies everything. Clothes, cars, watches, jewelry, furniture, houses, etc, etc... I have zero problems with a homage. Let people do what they want and wear what they want. That's my motto. Especially when most mortals will never have the money to afford the original comfortably.
Modding and homages are part of the gateway to watch collecting and even horology! Let's be real, those who can "start" a collection with an AP or ALS are not real enthusiats (imho). It's like saying "i got into art when my father gave me my first Monet at 16yo" It would be difficult to be sees as anything other than a snob. I believe that most of us who collect watches and are really into the hobby, have gone through phases and learned continuously how to carefully curate our collection. Modding is the easiest "hands-on" way to learn how to put together a time piece and these homages/replicas actually help us learn and differentiate (even appreciate) the details and craftsmanship of the real grails. I agree that most of us mere mortals will never be able to afford a real oak, and sometimes wearing a FAKE would clash with our actual economical posibilities. What I mean is, timepieces are conversation starters or make people notice you. If my networth is under $500k, it would seem ridicoulus, irresponsible, childish to be wearing an actual $100k watch... So a fake comes down to 2 possibilities: 1) you actually trick people into thinking it is real and look dumb or 2) people will realize it is fake and wonder what other things you are faking. SOLUTION? SEIKOAK! What is says is: I know about the royal oak, I know what it represents and this is a personalized take within a sensible budget. I didn't struggle to get it, nor did I make any sacrifices. I just researched and liked this one.
Revelot released the Gentus for $250. (NH35/sapphire crystal) I would rather buy something like the REVELOT without the SEIKO name on the dial. IMHO buying the one in the review or anything else is fine and I see no problem if a person likes it. I started out with Invicta and other inexpensive stuff. That was a gateway into the hobby for me. I now own a lot of modestly priced stuff from Citizen, SEIKO and plenty of micro-brands like Benarus to ZELOS. I also own and enjoy my OMEGA Railmaster. I doubt I would have any of those if it wasn't for the first Invicta.
Yeah I wouldn't buy this because it's a fake Seiko, not because it's a fake Royal Oak. I have this case sitting on my shelf so I'm definitely not against the idea of using a Royal Oak lookalike case, but it will either be sterile or personally branded.
Thanks for the tip - Not quite what I thought it would be (then again clue in name - DOH!) but some very nice close but no cigars hommages too to keep the patent police at bay.
I’m for it. I bought the parts from AliExpress and built one last year. It was a great experience in watch assembly and safer than pulling apart an expensive watch to see how it all comes together. Love a Seiko mod!
I love a Seiko mod too, but my issue is them selling a mod with actual Seiko branding on it. I think it’s fine if you wanna have a Seiko logo on your own mod, but to go and produce many of them and sell them with Seiko branding is a different story IMO. At that point I would consider it a fake/replica instead of a mod
I'm all for it. I've done something similar that looks a little like a Milgauss. It also has the Seiko badge on the dial (because I want to be very clear that it's not a Rolex and also because of the Seiko movement inside.) That said, I wouldn't sell a watch like that to the public. It's something I put together for me to wear because I like how it looks and I don't have to worry much about it getting scratched or otherwise damaged.
I'm more upset that it uses the Seiko branding than that it homages the AP. It's not a Seiko, it uses SOME Seiko parts. I like homages and own a Seiko powered Aliexpress integrated bracelet watch that looks AP-esque from across the room after a few drinks, but there is and always should be clear branding. It doesn't say AP or Seiko because it's neither of those things. I don't wear fake watches at any price point and I don't want to look like I do
@@xynged If it doesn't have a Seiko model number or wasn't a custom piece for a celebrity courtesy of Seiko corporate management, it isn't a Seiko & shouldn't say so on the dial. I get your point but I don't see a Ship of Theseus conundrum here. Lots of companies make parts. They aren't responsible for the finished product.
JUST don't put a seiko logo on it. Period. People do not even know what "modding" means and be like "iT's A sEIko MoD wHy ArE YOu mAD?" The one in this vid is a legit fake watch.
I like the Seiko brand but have recently broken two at work where I literally brake rocks. To vaudeville against more movement failure I bought a Casioak G Shock , stands up to punishment better, although I do miss the sweeping hand of an auto movement. There is a place for all watches and if I were to get a dress watch to replace the broken Seiko’s this would be it as my budget will not stretch to the real thing. But if you want to break rocks and keep accurate time with the Royal Oak look get a Casio.

@@PocketUau I don't believe you. Have had many Seikos over the years and not a single one has failed. I find it extremely hard to believe that 3 out of 4 of your Seikos failed just like that.

I have way more respect for Seiko than to go buy one of these. Seiko is no Audemars Piguet, but lets make one thing clear they are a very respectable watch brand with Exceptional watches and history with amazing engineering and quality. To use their name on a fake AP looking watch is just wrong imo... I personally prefer some of Seiko model's designs over any other watch maker company. APs are very beautiful watches but they are priced out of our league therfore I simply will not get to enjoy one why is that such hard thing to accept for some? I do however enjoy every moment with my beautiful seikos which I can afford atm..
Not that I have yet bought a mod, I have enquired. But I'm all for them. I love watches, and £500 is around my budget at anytime, unless I'm going for several years with finance package, which is how I managed to purchase a Tudor, and they're not truly expensive now are they?
Funny Fact your channel is one of the reasons I started collecting watches ⌚️ ... with the Seiko Oak 😅 .. Due to the fact its not obtainable in Boutiques 😊 well done Seiko
I bought the parts to assemble a similar watch with the only differences are that I used a black dial and a black day ring. It cost me 96€ (cost of the parts) and I assembled it with my tools. This isn't an homage watch neither a "real Seiko". It's called a Seiko Mod and it's made with the same movement as a Seiko (4R35 for Seiko) -> HN35 for the build (same as 4R35). It's made made by people that Mod watches and this one is based on a AP Royal Oak. It's not sold neither as a original Seiko neither as a homage or a rep of the AP. There can be mods for almost all watches that exists, depends just on what you like and what parts are available in the market. For 500$ you where just straight up robbed. This is just informative. By any means, the video is good, keep up the good work my friend.
I've got the Maurice lacroix aikon with a grey dial, it's a a really nice watch with a stainless steel bracelet and a silicone rubber strap. It's a No from me. I just dont like fake watches...saying that I'm wearing a Seiko Automatic right now,...but it's a real Seiko..😊
Id say if your getting an homage, stick to a colour the original has never been just to add a layer of distinction. I'm also torn on whether this is above board enough
Personally I feel like the content of channels like this reflects the downturn in the luxury watch market (specifically the secondary market). The channels want to keep growing but are running out of topics so we see even more videos like “great alternatives to Rolex”
Greetings from St George Utah, Here you got 2 iconic brands, and it doesn't matter really, because most people don't know the difference owning the real thing, but is fair to say is homage of the iconic AP argumently a looks, like the real thing but with the out the price...I love it....thanks again for sharing your thoughts and opinions of this iconic piece piece keep it real lol 😆..
I can understand but the value of nice watch is around 2-3k basically so anything below 1k is a beater. And I speak as a youtube POV in general, not my opininion.
A mass of manufacturers have tried to "steal" some RO money at all prices so why not a modding company. Not sure how relaxed Seiko will be with this however so if you want one I'd buy now before the lawyers appear.
I’m all for it. I’d take the Seikoak over a PRX any day! But would take a CW Twelve over both. This mod (sold by Seikoak NOT an official Seiko as the video leads you to believe) is for the other 99% that are not in AP’s rarified air.
I have to say I'm for it! A youtuber recently put a Honda v6 into a ferrari 308. I view it as a compliment to Ferrari and Honda each to their respective strengths. Beauty meets reliability. Ferrari meets Honda. AP meets Seiko.
I like Seiko mods and building watches with Seiko movements. I've modified a lot of Seikos, and I've built watches with Seiko movements and everything else aftermarket. It's a fun hobby and they make great gifts for friends. What I never do is actually put a Seiko marked dial on a watch I built from parts. There's a difference between an homage and a fake. Fake Seikos are still fake. If a person doesn't feel right wearing a fake Rolex, they should feel the same way about wearing a fake Seiko. It's a great looking watch that would be better if it had no markings on the dial.
This kind of mod has been realised in asian market almost 5 years now. There has daytona, oyster, bell & ross seiko also.People just purchased it because it has a look & durability without broke a bank
It's not a Seiko but it says Seiko on the dail. Well.. Of course modding watches is awesome, but don't try to trick people that these are original (either Seiko or AP). That's just not okay.
I don't know whether AP has the resources like Rolex who appears to aggressively go after homages. To scoot the customs they come in one by one, not stocked domestically. The maker of Seikoak doesn't appear to have contact info open for all to see and they may not actually have the inventory in the states, IMO. I wish them luck because it wasn't always like this.
How is this company allowed to sell a watch with “Seiko” on the dial? Especially since the seller is based in the USA, I feel like this is a copyright nightmare
Lego 911 is just a lower res version of the real 911. If it's big enough you won't see the difference. What's your point? Nothing is being copied correctly by this fake a** watch.
This is 50+% of the AP watch for 3% of the price. For this alone i like it, because it sends a clear message to the big boys in Switzerland, up your game or cut your prices!
I agree but would say closer to 80%. Imagine what they could do with $1000? $1500? I think you’d get close to 98%. The high end Rolex clones (which is a funny concept to say) are insanely close to the real deal these days.
This Seikoak will have +/- 5 min a day and your arm hair and the mineral glass will shave each other in the hope that you do not see the movement out of shame. I despise AP as much as I despise fake watches and fake people who have no dignity.
It’s a seiko movement in a AP case. It’s not hiding it’s a seiko on the dial which for me is fine. It’s not there to deceive anyone (or yourself). It’s an iconic design and if it allows you to enjoy it when you haven’t got the several thousands for the original; with a fake it’s about deception and this isn’t the same in my eyes. To be honest I love it
now nh35, has far I know is a 4r35, thats is sold for "microbrands" and Chinese, to me I still consider it a real Seiko movement, question is, is it expensive enough to be replicated or copied! try sort out a 6139 movement and parts and see how that goes... waiting for Seiko to decide to restock parts of this movement back, since the "Pogue" wont last long if they don't...
How is this thing different from a Pagani Design homage or clomage? At least the PD is not faking his way like this one, with the seiko branding, and is a hell of a lot cheaper.
I just bought a "Seiko" GMT MASTER 2 clone but with purple dial and purple and black bezel. It's a color combo I love and Rolex doesn't offer. It was less than $300. Now I don't ever have to buy a Rolex.
Cool idea but if I want a Seiko powered A.P. Knockoff AliExpress has all these parts for under $100. If I’m spending that kind of money I’m lookin at a Maen Manhattan 37.
This knockoff mod, excuse me "homage", of a Royal Oak is like a guy putting a poster of his favorite swimsuit model on his wall. Its the closest he is going to get to the real thing, and while he knows its not the real thing, it makes dreaming about the unattainable just slightly easier.
Tough one ...in one way it cheapens the brand but in another it highlights the brand to people who want to mod... I think mods should be a design that's unique people's ideas realised that potentially Seiko/other brands could see that design and decide to potentially release it commercially and not just a homage.
Instead of this watch, I would get a Cadisen homage with meteorite dial. It also looks similar to Royal Oak, has another producer's name on the dial, features sapphire glass and 100 m water resistance and has the very same NH35 movement. But it's not identical to Royal Oak thanks to different dial and costs one fourth of the price.
Super funny and why not as long as it is well made watch. I guess is what you get for inflating MSRP when at same time your product becomes a center of speculation. Don't need one but hope they will make someone happy.

The channels want to keep growing but are running out of topics so we see even more videos like “great alternatives to Rolex”
every video feels the same on this channel
Feiko. Ah shit, he said it why I was typing.
Honestly, this looks PRETTY COOL. i'd love to own one.
NH35 movement is 30 bucks. Why am I paying 470 for the case?
The case is ~$50, so I guess you're paying $420 for a very very special fake Seiko dial.
All the parts on ali are around 150 usd :-) aaa... And 20 usd worth of tools :-)
I’ve got a Seiko Yachtmaster and I love it!
First time seeing the voice behind watch finder
So the AP logo and the lettering are all that the wearers of this watch can do without?
Next watch: San Martin. They deserve a review from you!
More and more I feel like this channel is not for me and saying it doesn't matter if you mess up a $500 watch doesn't help that haha.
I can understand but the value of nice watch is around 2-3k basically so anything below 1k is a beater.
And I speak as a youtube POV in general, not my opininion.
@@kayless32 I wear a £40 Casio and I'm not happy when I scratch it.
I want one! and the AP too
The Tissot PRX has sort of the same effect.
A mass of manufacturers have tried to "steal" some RO money at all prices so why not a modding company. Not sure how relaxed Seiko will be with this however so if you want one I'd buy now before the lawyers appear.
Nice Seiko, the series should be called Feiko
There has daytona, oyster, bell & ross seiko also.People just purchased it because it has a look & durability without broke a bank
finally ! Watchfinder talks about mods !
Welll made mods can be a good buy. I have a mod with a seiko nh72 movement which looks amazing and cost £500.
It's not a Seiko but it says Seiko on the dail. Well.. Of course modding watches is awesome, but don't try to trick people that these are original (either Seiko or AP). That's just not okay.
It's not a trick, it is well known that these are Seiko MODS
More water resistant than the Royal Oak...
Looks like a good watch . Tells the time.
Honestly a $20 casio can do that ;)
You should do a video of the Tudor Pelagos 39mm titanium v the seestern equivalent which is virtually identical and £3500 odd cheaper.
So we now have a budget version of the budget version ( ML Aikon)
Ships porthole looking watch just doesn’t have the aesthetic grab for me but to each is own and hope someone will enjoy it
"for" i already got 3 nd am just loving them, and no i dont think it would affect ap in anyway bc i cant afford it anyway
How is this company allowed to sell a watch with “Seiko” on the dial? Especially since the seller is based in the USA, I feel like this is a copyright nightmare
all is come from china, then selling it worldwide
Dude the Chinese made an entire economy around stealing others property and not giving a F
This hurt my eyes
If this is so easily being copied. AP needs to up their game and make their watch not being easily copied.
Lego 911 is just a lower res version of the real 911. If it's big enough you won't see the difference. What's your point? Nothing is being copied correctly by this fake a** watch.
How
Audemars Piguet trying to claim the hexagon shape as their own is so funny :))) What's next, the circle?
This is 50+% of the AP watch for 3% of the price. For this alone i like it, because it sends a clear message to the big boys in Switzerland, up your game or cut your prices!
I agree but would say closer to 80%. Imagine what they could do with $1000? $1500? I think you’d get close to 98%. The high end Rolex clones (which is a funny concept to say) are insanely close to the real deal these days.
This Seikoak will have +/- 5 min a day and your arm hair and the mineral glass will shave each other in the hope that you do not see the movement out of shame. I despise AP as much as I despise fake watches and fake people who have no dignity.
the real question is how can the AP cost 150k?
luxury goods are scam
Scam yes, plain and simple
It's a Seiko mod. This isn't an OEM watch. Probably should bring that up earlier in the video
I agree, that should have been disclaimed at the start
Since the Royal Oak does absolutely nothing for me, then the feiko doesn't either.
But why put Seiko on the Dial? Because of the movement?
Because the seller is trying to piggyback off the history, heritage, and brand recognition of Seiko
why didn't they just make the logo say "seikoak" in the style and font of a seiko logo?
It’s a seiko movement in a AP case. It’s not hiding it’s a seiko on the dial which for me is fine. It’s not there to deceive anyone (or yourself). It’s an iconic design and if it allows you to enjoy it when you haven’t got the several thousands for the original; with a fake it’s about deception and this isn’t the same in my eyes.
To be honest I love it
If I were Seiko, I would be thinking about a "Seiko Inside" program.
now nh35, has far I know is a 4r35, thats is sold for "microbrands" and Chinese, to me I still consider it a real Seiko movement, question is, is it expensive enough to be replicated or copied!
try sort out a 6139 movement and parts and see how that goes...
waiting for Seiko to decide to restock parts of this movement back, since the "Pogue" wont last long if they don't...
I have no problem with modified Seikos but when I mod something I want it to be customized specifically for me and no one else having it
The AP crowd is becoming as obnoxious as the Hublot crowd. The Royal Oak has jumped the shark.
PRX - Yes please
Seikoak - Not for me (unless you own AP)
Fakes - No thanks
This“Seikoak” is a fake.
For it and i want to eventually own an AP.
I would pay slightly extra for the Yema Urban Traveler. And get som hertiage…
Seiko movement? Seiko logo? Even if it's a mod watch that Seiko doesn't make, it's a homage, NOT a fake. You cannot lose here.
Tough one ...in one way it cheapens the brand but in another it highlights the brand to people who want to mod...
I think mods should be a design that's unique people's ideas realised that potentially Seiko/other brands could see that design and decide to potentially release it commercially and not just a homage.
I’m for it, I have the same mod for my CasiOak
My only issue with this is that people are paying $500 for it when with very little research you could build you own for $100 give or take
I'm for it --- those luxury brands will be forever out of reach; anything that sticks it to their margins is a good thing
Maybe one would get richer if he didn't use phrases like "sticks it to their margins" 🤷
Luxury watches are a scam
@@frblaze2 No, they're service. Would you throw your shoes away or would you want a decent shoe master?
@@GEMSofGOD_com don't know what you mean or what you're talking about
@@frblaze2 And this is why you're nowhere 🤷 CURIOSITY IS THE KEY
Instead of this watch, I would get a Cadisen homage with meteorite dial. It also looks similar to Royal Oak, has another producer's name on the dial, features sapphire glass and 100 m water resistance and has the very same NH35 movement. But it's not identical to Royal Oak thanks to different dial and costs one fourth of the price.
Super funny and why not as long as it is well made watch. I guess is what you get for inflating MSRP when at same time your product becomes a center of speculation. Don't need one but hope they will make someone happy.
This feels like an April Fools joke.
