I really appreciate the video. This is the only video I've found that had the same printer as me and not the mono x or some other Photon that's like 90% the same except for the FEP. This video made me realize that these replacement OEMs exist and that I bought the wrong thing, I just bought the sheets. Since I couldn't find the OEM replacement literally anywhere, I decided screw it, and just pried apart the OEM that came with my printer and replace that sheet. I did crack the Plastic rim around the FEP but it doesn't seem to be an issue. I then removed the old sheet and placed the new one, poked holes through the screw holes with the Allen wrench, then screwed it into the vat. It took a lot longer, but I think I got the same result here. Tapping it gave me a similar sound, idk if it's the same frequency or not. I started a print just now, I'll let you know if it works or not.
@@Jaakeup I did the same thing as you but when I screwed them back in it sides next to the screws were a little raised like I screwed them to deep. Is this ok? I would have pulled them back but I wasn’t getting the frequency needed.

I thought the vat had a removable frame that you could change the FEP in. I did not realize they intended for us to chuck the whole frame and film in the trash with every change.
I bought my ptfe-lined sovol vat for 18€ plus a pack of 5 feps for 10€. The price for the preinstalled 2-piece pack was I think 15€ plus 20€ shipping, which makes this offer unappealing,even when you have no experience changing the fep.
@@Okonobo I bought the vat from Aliexpress (for some reason it was on sale and cheaper than the non-ptfe version, idk.) and the 5pcs fep from ebay (all the offers were around 10-13€). And i ordered from germany, if it matters.
Like some here, I'm able to get these @~ $10 for two. Though as of DEC 2022 they're packaged better than some are saying. Cardboard box, each individually wrapped inside. Thanks for the video.
I just got two of these direct from AnyCubic for 15 USD. They were packaged terribly though; not even an envelope, just wrapped in thin black plastic (like cling film for cooking), taped with packing tape in a + pattern, then had a label affixed. Thank goodness they seem to be okay.
Hey I’m seeing them sell them low priced on their website compared to Amazons. Are they the same though? I just need the parts now and it would suck to just get the fep without the frame.
Same, I guess we have to wait a little bit longer to see them available on Amazon for a reasonable price, but they're actually available on the Anycubic website (beware of the shipping cost: it is 50$ for italian addresses) I purchased the Sovol VAT, I need a replacement ready to be installed, just in case.
Been super disappointed with my Mono 2 so far. Got it yesterday and they have basically no documentation on it. This is my first resin printer so I remove the film covering the bottom of the FEP, fill the vat and let it print. Oh also the screws that hold the VAT to the printer apparently are threaded into super weak plastic and will strip if you put any torque on them at all. There was a second layer of film on top of the FEP which should be obvious but in the minimal documentation it doesn't mention removing this. So instead of just pulling out the film and failed print I cleaned the VAT but used paper towels and this scratched the hell out of the FEP. Just now I went to remove it with some plain films I got on amazon claiming they would work for this machine but no anycubic doesn't make the film replaceable. So I say screw it and order their proprietary frame and film thing for $40. But in the mean time put the old FEP back on and again not even that tight it cracks the frame around the FEP. The paper towel scratches are my fault. I will even take the blame on the second film but the screws stripping and the FEP frame cracking are bad design. This is the last time I buy anything from anycubic. I knew I should have gone with elegoo or literally anyone else.
I do really hope these drop in price. They are super idiot friendly for changing, but the price point hurts. $18 a piece vs. like $4 a piece. Half to a third the price would be reasonable for the ease/convenience. As it stands now, I just changed the FEP on my mono for the first time, so I have a second one chilling for when I need to change next. If the price hasn't dropped by then, I'll buy the Sovol vat you showcased a few months ago.
I got my Mono 2 weeks ago and been printing stuff daily. There are some marks starting to appear on the film and it also leaves marks on the prints. I planned on trying clear resin soon so I ordered FEP films to start fresh and while waiting for them to arrive I kept printing in black resin. Today when I started a print for some reason my printed seem to have forgot it's 0 and kept trying to go lower when it was at the bottom of the vat. I cancelled and raised the plate and then removed the vat to inspect if it did any damage... sure enough one of the corner poked a tiny hole in the film. I cleaned the vat completely and took it apart so I would be ready to install the new film when they arrive and I JUST now realize that the mono doesn't take regular film and need framed one. I'm pissed. What I though would be a 1-2 day delay would probably be weeks or more if I order framed film and I already have regular film on the way... so ya screw that Anycubic vat. I'm ordering a Sovol replacement.
Hey, nice video! I'm thinking about buying a 3d printer and probably ill choose the Photon mono 4k. All i wanted to know is if the VATS from mars 2 pros are compatible with this one... I saw that the Sovol Vat is compatible with Anycubic Mono and with the Elegoo Mars 2 Pro, and since they sell the same Vat for Mono and mono 4k i presume they will be compatible...
@@TrueEliteGeek I may have named it wrong. Just hold the screwdriver between thumb and middle fingr, while your index finger is on the top of screwdriver for pressure and balance. This produces low torque but high accuracy.
Super helpful video! Do you find it difficult to find info on these newer printers? I just got the Photon Mono SE and I can barely find any information on things like exposure time and lift speed limits.
I have an anycubic mono x and i like to have separate vats for clear and opaque resins- but i cant seem to find any mono x vats for sale anywhere. do you have any information on where i can get spare vats for the mono x?
Yeah, I had the EXACT same issue with these things being stupidly expensive compared to my Elegoo Mars, and when there are times where I have to change these things 4 or 5 times a month it gets pricey

The Mono SE comes with a different vat than the Mono. (Unfortunately these names are quite confusing) You don't need a special FEP for the SE. You can install FEP just like I do in the Solvol vat video. ua-cam.com/video/9XMDGFh_c0A/v-deo.html I talk about the Solvol vat with the Mono. But it will work with the Mono SE also.
agreed, it is a rip off. Was very disappointed when I went to change the FEP on mine, bought some film (actually from anycubic), and then discovered the bloody two piece plastic frame was glued together. I couldn't separate it with leaving bits of plastic from one stuck to the other. Poor show Anycubic.

Im at that moment aswell. I opened it up and it simply broke on me.

Ptfe lined vat? Is there a ptfe film instead of fep?
Yeh but you can't separate the plastic pieces on the mono as once split they don't go back together seamlessly again as they are glued.

For a next replacement just print some sort of FEP protection with holes for screws :)

Try holding your free hand on edge and wrap a finger around the shaft of the screwdriver. No punctures and two-contact control.

I will say this with the atmost respect: You should learn the 3-finger screwing technique, so the screwdriver won't slip or ruin the FEP.

None of these manufacturers seem to want to commit to much information other than pixel size.
15 sec base layers 1.5 sec normal layers raise height 6 retract and lift speed 5 for both

Are you telling me you buy a new sovol vat every time you need to replace the fep?
