Just followed this video and managed to replace a damaged FEP film within 20 minutes. Very easy to follow, and definitely works a treat. Many thanks Anycubic.
A good tool to have for a hole maker in the FEP sheet is a door hinge hole centering tool. It fits great into the tapered bore of the ring and centers a nice clean hole into the center of the screw bore. It works fine, but if you want to even improve on that, make a fixture that lifts the total ring about 5mm above the surface your working on. This will allow the centering tool's center pin to full penetrate the FEP and make a nice round hole for the screw's placement.
instead of the ridiculous annoying music you could've let us hear how the fep should sound when tapping after tightening it. It has a very distinct sound to it that could help some ppl get the tension correct.
I still giggle even from the original photon FEP replacement video that I watched a year-ish ago when I bought my original photon that a bottle cap is still a necessary part to get this to work. Never change anycubic, never change 😂 Ordered my mono X yesterday. It’ll come in on Monday (4 days). Can’t wait!!!!
Before installing the frame into the vat, run a pair of scissors around the edge to trim off the excess film. It's much easier than cutting it off after it's installed.
@@MarcoNoPolo dont not a knife, use that plastic scraper u get with printer, thats why the supply u with 1, make sure u use the metal scrapper on the fep when have a fail
"According to the tightness of the FEP" - Which would be what exactly? Instead of the meaningless music how about letting us HEAR the tone when you thump the installed FEP? Maybe provide a proper tone value so we can use an audio app to tune it?
The mono x fep size is advertised as 240mm x 165mm and the Elegoo Saturn 297mm x 210 so you can use the Saturn fep and trim to fit. Since both printers are pretty new I'm not surprised stock of replacement sheets are low.
fep doesn't come particular sizes for each printer, they come in a generic size, like small medium large, its like anything u buy, tshirts come in s m l xxl xxxl xxxxl , same thing
Done this procedure a couple of times. Worked but I still have a doubt about the last phase: tightening the metal frame on the vat. In this phase it is up to you to choose the tension of the fep... I don't screw all the way down but I stop at a certain point... there is a way to tension the film in a more repeatable way? In the video this is not underlined. They just screw some bolts but how hard?
I'd recommend a torque screwdriver, but as for how tight, I have no clue. Some people recommend tuning the FEP sheet with a PC speaker playing the right frequency, but again, I have no clue what frequency for each model of printer.
Considering my FEP came pre-damaged for me, and not having the same answer... I ordered the .1 and .2 from here: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GRLC4H4 Should be able to cut this to size.

This FEB tray makes since wish the Anycubic Photon had this instead of one set of screw brackets making it so you have to cram the damn thing into the tray
The FEP film is supposed to allow a certain about of movement so that when the build plate pulls up, the model that is stuck to the FEP (This is completely normal) gets pulled up. the FEP creates a parabolic shape if there is enough movement allowed, instead of a flat surface as friction differences between the two ways of doing it are drastically decreased in the parabolic method.
I replaced my FEP but didn't use the bottle cap while installing. Now, the prints stick to the FEP and pulled down the whole magnetic plate. Could it be that the tension of the FEP is too much because of not using the bottle cap during the installation?
Just found this video after replacing my FEP following the instructions on the anycubic FEP replacement. Just a heads up, the instructions there say nothing about removing the protective film. I wish I had found this video before...
i thought that would have been obvious, do u eat bananas with the skin on them, did u remove the protective screen off the build plate and the printers screen when u set up ur printer
You all really need to provide all the data on your website if your are going to be selling these printers. Everything can't be out of stock all the time, all these people asking for Fep Film and specifics and getting no response is not professional, however you have no issue taking the money on time. I just got my printer less than 48 hrs ago now I want to do nothing but return it because I can get no supplies for it.
Just watched this to check after doing.. all else the same, I didn’t use a bottle cap. Do I need to redo it? Do I need to re-zero the z axis? It feels like there is a few microns of gap between the fep and the glass
I removed all the screw, threw away the old FEP film and then continued this tutorial just to notice that I dont have a single usefull bottlecap in my house. So in order for me to be able to print something again I have to buy a bottle of coke... Might aswell add 1 to the package or let the person know
i do not know what i am doing wrong :) i was able to print 2 stunning prints on day one with my printer but haven't been able to get it to print anything else in months : /

Thanks for the video, where do I get a replacement fep sheet for the mono x?

Where can we get these replacement FEP films?
www.mcmaster.com/fep-film/
How thick is the FEP?
@3:47 is there a specific tightness for the fep or do they just mean to not over tighten the screws?
i have the same question. I would appreciate an answer, Anycubic. Thank You!
Same question here!
Super useful. Just changed my fep now and this helped.

Great tip, the cap to give amplitude to the film.
Still no link to the actual product. Pathetic customer support from Anycubic. No replacement part available anywhere???
The replacement I ordered represents much better quality as original FEP-Film.
It cannot be so easy damaged by fingers and is scratch proof.
Which one? And how does it go from bottle cap loose to drum tight? Is the act of tightening it to the vat causing the tensioning?
@@anonymousbosch9265
Original ones, sold in 5item envelope.
Don´t worry about tensioning, it is made by vat itself during installing the frame.
Video on how to change the Pep film of a photon mono? The whole is made from plastic and it too easy to crack it when changing film
Where the one can buy a replacement FEP? Its an essential part need to be available once the printer released.
Amazon has them
google it , does ur internet not work
How tight should the FEP srewed together, or isnt there a limit (except to the point where its already worn out while installing)? Many thanks forward
Did you just install the FEP with the protective film still on? Otherwise, why is it so cloudy in the final shots?
Where can we get NFEP, instead of FEP, for this printer? Is EPAX the only source, and will their films fit?
Anyone else come back to this video just for the song?
