Ok so I’m see how easy it was for you to remove the big piece of vinyl from your cut. However, I just got a cricut and I’m having the hardest time removing my big piece of vinyl and now I’m thinking that I may need a new blade. Even when I select a deeper cut my vinyl still doesn’t remove itself as easy as yours did.
I have an Explore Air 2 and am able to use the Smart products on it (without mat) with no problem. My problem is the transfer tape. I feel like a bug caught on fly paper LOL. It' VERY sticky and I suppose I'll get used to it,,,but right now it sticks to everything on my table.
Thanks for sharing! I have a explore air 2 also and was disappointed to know I couldn't use the smart vinyl! I'm gonna try it now! Also I find the cricut brand transfer tape is very sticky! I have had more luck with the duck brand clear laminate. It is identical to the cricut brand but not nearly as sticky and works alot better for me! Hope this helps!
I really like you video. It is very informative 👏🏻👏🏻 Recently bought Cricut maker 3 I am trying to make print on T-shirt with hitting press machine but the vinyl permanent paper dose not stick to the cloth. I almost tried everything. I tried to keep tempter low as well as high both do not work Any guidance would be helpful
Hi, I recently got a cricut explorer air 2. I tried it out today just to test it and my smart vinyl won’t come out. Not sure if it’s too thick or what. I used the deeper pressure since i heard to use it. But it still doesn’t go through. Any ideas?
Smart Materials are not intended for use with previous-generation Cricut Explore or Cricut Maker machines unless placed on a machine mat. Using Smart Materials with older machines without a mat may cause material jams, compromise cutting precision, and damage machine parts.
Great video and I'm excited to get working on my vinyl project. I was so excited that you also explained the smart tray that I also purchased for my Maker 3. Can you explain to me what projects you should use the removeable vinyl and what projects you should use the permanent. I'm working on a saying on a window and also a saying on a wine cup and not sure whether to use removeable or permanent. Thanks a bunch!!!!!
Hi Peggy, For the window, I would recommend a removable vinyl and for the wine glass, a permanent vinyl would last longer, especially if you hand wash the glass with cool water. The little cup is called a weeding berry and you can find it here: www.abbikirstencollections.com/go/weeding-berry/
Fantastic video! I'm so new to circuit, I just got the Circuit maker 3 a couple of days ago and I'm trying to learn what I can and cannot do. I have a small pet accessories business and was wondering, can I do this on fabric? I'm so confused and would love to know if you have a video for transferring on fabric, the smart vinyl (not iron on), and if not perhaps request it?
Can these large rolls be used if it's cut down for the Cricut joy? I rather get these bigger rolls then the Cricut joy small rolls. Can someone answer. This question for me please? Thank you 🙂
Great question! As long as the scrap piece of vinyl is large enough to cover the sensor at the top left of your machine, when open, you can cut on smart materials that are less than a full-width roll! :)
@@abbikirstencollections Doesn’t it need to be under both notches in order for it to be hold down properly? What if the scrap piece is only big enough to cover the sensor and the left notch only??
@@mwill62 The machines guides are not necessary to hold your material in place. The metal roller is what holds the material. I have tested it with a 3-inch wide scrap piece and it worked great!
I just got a cricut joy, and used the writable smart vinyl to cut letters and used transfer tape like your video but then read it's not recommended to use transfer tape with the smart vinyl? it's left a residue on the letters themselves. How else would I transfer these letters otherwise? transfer tape makes more sense to me 🤷🏼♀️
The Smart Materials are designed to work with the Explore 3 and Maker 3. To use the Smart Materials with the original Cricut Maker you will need to use a mat :)
Hi. I bought a cricut explore 3 about a few months ago and it seems to me that the smart papers aren’t long enough the rolled up way to be feed into to machine. Is there a certain length I need to purchase?
Hey, another question prob been asked quite a few 😂 but what cricut tape were you using? I’ve used strong grip an always had issues but worked somewhat better then the normal cricut tape for me but yeah yours worked out all good.
thanks for explaining this, i like the way to put vinyl cutting on transfer tape which is very hard. Good Luck!
My pleasure!
I was searching for the videos that help me with my little project, you the one that help me a lot. Thank you and will see you again!👍😍😍

What setting are you using and what vinyl brand?

Make sure to only cut it into small sections to help it not stick to so much. :)
@@abbikirstencollections Thanks so much for the tip!

Are you using iron on vinyl also known as HTV? Permanent vinyl will not work on cloth.
do they have reflexive vinyl?
Amazon sells it

Hi, anytime you are adding vinyl to fabric you need to use iron-on or infusible ink. Cricut does make smart iron-on too.
Can these large rolls be used if it's cut down for the Cricut joy? I rather get these bigger rolls then the Cricut joy small rolls. Can someone answer. This question for me please? Thank you 🙂
Yes, you can cut them down to use in the Cricut Joy and Joy Xtra :)
how do i use a scrap piece of smart vinyl without it moving with it not being on a mat? or do I have to use a full sheet only without a mat?

I've never heard of that. Here is the tape I use with mine amzn.to/3QYEMQD
Hi, great video! What cutting setting do you use on the explore 3 when doing this?
The smart permanent vinyl setting. :)
Which settings did you use? I can't find the option 'Smart Vinyl'. Automatically selected with a mat.
I have a cricut Maker.
The Smart Materials are designed to work with the Explore 3 and Maker 3. To use the Smart Materials with the original Cricut Maker you will need to use a mat :)
As I understand, smart vinyl is not to use with Cricut maker?
Hi. I bought a cricut explore 3 about a few months ago and it seems to me that the smart papers aren’t long enough the rolled up way to be feed into to machine. Is there a certain length I need to purchase?
Hmm, they should be long enough if they are Cricut's brand paper unless you have used it and cut it down.
Can I transfer my smart permanent vinyl design onto a vinyl raincoat?
I haven't personally tried this but I don't see why not! :)
Should of watched the video before trying my first vynl sheet 😂
So glad you found it helpful! :)
Can you use smart vinyl with the maker?
Yes! Cricut does not recommend this but I have tried it and it was successful.
Can you use smart materials on original maker?
Yes, I am done this and it works. Just keep in mind that Cricut doesn't recommend it since it doesn't have the sensor that that newer machines do.
Can you do a video 📸 n tshirts with smart vinyl. Not smart iron . Thank you
You cannot put vinyl on shirts you need to have iron-on or infusible ink for fabric materials. :)
Is that pink thing on the table supposed to be there?
Yes, it's a weeding berry.

Do you have to mirror smart vinyl
Yes! I'm not sure why Cricut doesn't prompt this but mirroring iron-on smart vinyl is required. :)
what cutting setting for cricut maker 3? "smart" isn't an option
You can search by using the "browse all materials" setting :)
I have searched all materials. Smart wasn’t an option which is why I was asking.
