Honestly the whole Ball punch thing was never as memorable on it's own. Goku literally starts dodge #13's stomp then he gets up right after 13 proceeds to not only punch him in the nuts but after 13 beats him up even more. It wasn't memorable aside from memes

This movie was the first DBZ tape I ever owned. Everything before that had always been rented (or seen on TV). I very vividly remember a neighbor kid leaving halfway through watching the movie because he was bored.

Only good thing about this movie is 13's signature move. S.S. Deadly Bomber is a really cool name, plus seeing Goku try to dodge a big, red, homing energy ball is funny to me.

The amazing thing is that you'll get to dissect the original Broly Movie not much after DBS Broly hits the west. That's some timing I tell you. Edit: Also noteworthy that my only comment for the dissection of "the 3 great super saiyans" movie is not even about it.
That is one of the few things I remember. It took until TFS for me to realize that happened though. The dub must gave cut it out or I forgotten like the movie itself.
In the aforementioned scene in this movie says he can't maintain it in Super Sayain. That was why he absorbed it's power. In the Boo arc he has no problem maintaining in Super Sayian form.

Worst Dragonball movie, hands down. There is just has no plot. Cyborgs show up, fight, bye. The only thing I'm impressed with is how much MistareFusion is able to talk about this amount of nothing. Congrats on that.
I judge DBZ movies on how far I can get through them without sighing. Longest movie I went without doing so is Movie 13. Shortest one is tie between the first Cooler movie and Resurrection F where I saw their covers and sighed. This one is near the bottom also but is higher because Goku got punched in the balls.
Wow I’ve never seen Fusion so annoyed - even when reviewing Dragonball Super lol. One thing not mentioned is I thought the Arctic environment was really unique. I know it’s not much though it’s unique from the barren wastelands Toriyama has put in the manga at this point, so it’s something.
Well about Arctic, there's only the 2nd DBZ movie (with Dr. Willo, you know) with this one and the DBS Broly movie which is coming up next (like very soon now, from where we are) that use this kind of environment, precisely...and you're right, it's quite unique and pretty enjoyable about it !
i remember a fan thoery going around that this movie was an au where the android arc was dealt with much faster then it originally was. and thats why 17,18, 16 and cell are not around.
Wouldn't that mean that Piccolo would be the strongest guy in the film, though? Because he does significantly worse than Goku, who wouldn't have gone into the Time Chamber at this point and would logically be weaker than him.
They could have beaten them without the remote control, like just destroying them. I think this is possible if it was a timeline without Cell showing up. But you have to ignore power levels in that case, like Vegeta and Trunks didn't go to the time chamber..

Seen this movie about 3 times, I think. I enjoyed it enough every time, mostly for the humor, especially in the Funi dub. “Is it over?” “Not ‘til the fish jumps. *fish jumps* It’s over” Also, Goku getting punched in the groin knocking him out of SSJ...can’t stop watching that scene, it’s too glorious (And Krillin was the only completely useless Z-Fighter in the movie, at least to me. Gohan and Piccolo protected Goku from 13 while he was charging the Spirit Bomb)

I always hated this movie, even as a kid but i think you didn't cover a certain topic enough. NO. 13'S FINAL FORM LOOKS SO BAD I usually like Toriyama's designs, even the most questionable ones, when he designs a character at best their design tells you everything you need to know about that character and at worst it's just a weird design but No. 13... Everything about his final form its just wrong, first of all, he transforms into generic shirtless buff dude making his appearance really boring, then he has Vegeta's hair and no pupils, that literally sounds to me like a rejected Broly design and on top of that the color choice it's just awful, i know close to nothing about color theory but god damn even i know that this guys it's hard to look at, Blue skin, Orange hair and Green pants, who looked at that and said "yeah, that looks good for our bad guy" he stands out in every bad way because with that color scheme compared to the other characters he seems like he doesn't belong here, he feels like a crappy fan character. I hope i explained myself because i seriously have been wanting to talk about that for a looooong time, i really, REALLY, hate No. 13's design, he's probably the laziest design Toriyama has ever done.
You know what Super Android 13 looks like? He looks like one of those knockoff action figures. He's an army man's legs and a superhero torso with Vegeta's head on it, painted bright blue with orange hair and yellow eyes and some random gray bits. You can _absolutely_ imagine the guy in a box labeled "DRAGON POWER MAN" along with some gun that doesn't fit in his hand and some miscolored picture of Goku stolen from Deviantart and splashed across the front, being sold discounted at Five and Below.
I personally find 94's Broly sequels the absolute low point of the Z movies. At least 6 and 7 are straightforward about their brainless fighting formula. Movies 10 and 11 both start with a promising premise and character lineup, only for everyone to end up in a brawl against Broly for most of the runtime until the deus ex machina (Goku's ghost/Water) shows up at the end to help finish him off.
I remember a fan theory that this movie takes place in a alternate timeline and the Future Trunks in this movie is the one who eventually gets killed by Imperfect Cell.
God damn this series is so fantastic. It showcases so many of the problems of these movies and yet it doesn’t affect my enjoyment of them.....also “women be shopping” the best.

I have to say, though this movie is pretty bad and very formulaic, it had some fantastic fight scenes, choreography wise anyways. The action in this film was great, the setting was unique (yes I know the 2nd Z film was set in the arctic but that was inside a base not actually outside). We get to see a fight from the city and transition to the arctic. The movie satisfied me when I was a child, because I only cared about the action and that's all that I needed. Nowadays I know there's more to a story then that but I still remember and enjoy the action till this day, Goku and 13 fighting underwater, trunks fighting 2 androids at once being out matched, vegeta stepping in and destroying 15 in a glorious one punch clash fashion, trunks doing the classic samurai sword clash against 14, I could go on. Though a lot of these things are very similar to other things in the show and movie. I don't like this movie, but the action is still fun to go back and look at.

I think whether or not this movie is *the* worst Z movie comes down to whether the fact that it has no high points bothers you more than the low points not being as bad as in some later films. Like, there's nothing exceptionally dumb in this film like the ending of Cooler 2 or Broly's backstory in the next one (I'd even say the ending is one of the more logical ones out of the Z films). But there's nothing fun either like a billion Coolers or Broly going on a rampage.
Sigilbreaker26 I definitely don’t think this is the worst Z film, far from it. That honor goes to broly’s second coming, with bio broly falling right behind it. Second coming is pointless, and pretty boring. It’s plot is bland and the action is just okay, well animated, but okay. Broly in that film gets pissed on by trunks, and the film has no tension. Also goku ex machina.
When I was making my CinemaSins video for this movie, I almost couldn't sit through it. It was worse than I remember it. I thought it was stupid how the Saiyans were spending over 20 minutes of the movie getting their asses kicked until they finally decided to go Super Saiyan. Not to mention Androids 14 and 15 leisurely walking through buildings to get to Goku instead of flying to him from the get go. That was nothing but Toei padding out the runtime in this zero plot movie.
I really liked the English dub line of Goku commenting on the women shopping, saying it looked like mud wrestling he saw on TV. Not only that but apparently both Gohan and Goku watch women mud wrestle. For some reason this has me laughing my ass off. And of course, **dick-punch**
One other thing that was particularly irksome in this movie compared to others. The whole "I'm not gonna go Super Saiyan until it's serious" my God. This movie is called "The three Great Super Saiyans" but there is barely any action with them at all Trunks gets double teamed by 14 and 15 nearly gets killed multiple times. Until he fights 14 one on one and then FINALLY turns Super Saiyan and we get to see him fight 14 for a total of 14 seconds before 14 dies. Goku fights 13 Multiple times in BASE over and over again and nearly gets killed by 13's S.S. Bomb and FINALLY goes Super Saiyan and all we do is see him fire a bunch of ki blasts. We see most of the hand to hand stuff off screen. At least with Vegeta, Vegeta only gets beaten around once and then transforms. At one point before they transform into Super Saiyans. Goku throws an Ice block at 13 and Trunks does the same to his Androids. Really? You can boost your power 50 fold and you choose to throw rocks? Dumbass.
I think Movies 9 and maybe 13 are the only ones that could conceivably fit in the timeline with little issue. I mean sure, Movie 9 (The Bojack one) has Future Trunks in it but that could easily be explained by him wanting to tell everyone in the present (his past) that he defeated the Future Androids and Future Cell only to get involved with the tournament. Anyway, I’m guessing both manga and animé versions of History of Trunks is later this month. Next year, the Cell Games, Broly, more Cell Games, Hatchyack, even more Cell Games, DBDTV of the Frieza and Garlic Jr. Sagas and Bojack (though this might stretch into 2020).
0:40 Damn, it's crazy how fast an anime can catch up with a manga like that, even when there are filler arcs and in canon filler. I can also see why old anime like Saint Seiya had a mess of fillers and extended fights.

That isn't so much a pass. As much as it is a repressed memory. I remember all of the other movies just not this one. I would like to forget about it again. Hell I pretty sure I'm going to.
The only reason I remember it is because the off button for SS was found and Future Trunks was going to bring a sword to a ladies swimsuit competition which just fits my head canon for the boy so perfectly.
So I'm just spit balling here and I highly doubt I'm the first one to ever come to this conclusion, but the Cell arc establishes four different timelines for Dragon Ball. 1. The original unaltered time line where Trunks hails from. 2. The altered timeline that Trunks and Cell travel to that the series follows. 3. A variation of the first timeline where in Cell kills Trunks. 4. A hypothetical timeline that the Trunks from timeline 3 was trying to travel back to that was split when Cell travelled back instead. In otherwords there is a timeline out there where Trunks still travels back to the present, but Cell doesn't. The androids are, presumably, defeated and Trunks returns to the future, defeats them again and then is killed by Cell, but the original timeline continues on nonetheless. In other words the Trunks in this movie is a younger version of the one Cell from the series later talks about killing (hell Trunks even uses his sword in this movie and in the flashback Cell has of killing him if I remember everything correctly, which lines up so well, though why it was never destroyed fighting 18 in the first place makes no sense). So we're looking at a scenario where the androids were defeated (or rendered non hostile) because Future Trunks shows up, but Cell never subsequently shows up. Without Cell to tell them about the underground lab, Gero's computer just sits there with its cell plan another two decades away from completion and has no choice but to activate the earlier models (and fortunately for the heroes he does it within a time frame where Trunks is still hanging around). It actually lines up pretty well. Granted it requires fourth dimensional nerd thinking that the makers of the movie obviously never intended.
Several years late, I know, but I think this is the one case where mostly everyone agrees Funimation did it better. Lines such as "IF THE GREAT GOKU CANT HANDLE THE INDIANS, WHY BRING OUT THE CHEF?" and "KID'S HAS BEEN OUT FOR THE SUN FOR WaAaAyYyY tOoOO LONG!" still make me laugh everytime.
The part about continuity was interesting. The movies don't fit well with the canon story, but how many of the movies can fit into each other's continuity? Is it possible to say there's a movieverse, or is it so convoluted that even each separate movie would practically have to be its own alternative universe?
You're right in that this movie is incredibly bland. These villains are just so lackluster that it is one of the rare times I largely don't mind their changes in the English dub. At least the English dub version of Android 13 had some amusing lines like, "Don't you lecture me with your $30 hair cut! Goku dies!" I think the only change about Android 13 in the English dub that I didn't like was him calling Goku a "city boy." That's an incredibly inaccurate and nonsensical nickname for Goku. Also, while I won't deny that Android 13 has aspects of him that are definitely taken from Cell and is an analogue of him to an extent, it is not to the degree that Cooler is to Freeza or that Janemba is to Majin Buu. Android 13's similarities to Cell really only extend to being created by Dr. Gero and obtaining a more powerful form after absorbing other creations of Dr. Gero. However, Cell is a bug man who can absorb people by impaling his tail into them or cyborgs by opening up his tail and swallowing them whole to get more powerful. Android 13 is a robot who looks like a regular person and becomes more powerful by absorbing parts of other androids into him through his skin. It's not nearly as creepy as Cell's. I think a more accurate comparison for Android 13 would be that he's a malevolent version of Android 16 with a variation of gaining more power by absorption like Cell. If you want an example of a character who I feel is a better analogue of Cell, I would point to Ozotto from the video game Dragon Ball V.R.V.S. Ozotto seems to have been based on one of Cell's earlier designs and mixed with Freeza's second form. He even has his own powered up form for fighting. However, instead of a mix between Freeza's true form and Cell's perfect form, Ozotto's powered up form is an inflated version of him with two extra arms making him look more like Cell's self-destruction form. I'm not saying this comparison this perfect, just that I feel Ozotto is better analogue to Cell than Android 13.
It always saddens me when you mention the Genki-Dama music because oh my god ever since I heard it when Goku defeated Majin Boo (yeah, that was the first time I heard it cause somehow I missed the Cell arc everytime it was on tv) it became my absolute favorite piece of Dragon Ball soundtrack. I always get so emotional when I hear it. ... Due to nostalgia, I might have a soft spot for the Boo arc even though it's not exactly... good. Oh man the dissection of that arc is gonna hurt isn't it?
Yeah, this movie is just the epitome of the movie series in terms of how formulaic and stale it gets. I've tried to watch it a few times again over the years, but I don't think I can sit down and watch it all the way through again. Funny how No. 17 and 18 are dropped into the start of the film, and never heard from again. I didn't even like Shunsuke Kikuchi's score for this one. Everything sucked. Well, I guess Piccolo trying to go for the body slam was cool, but that's about it. Too bad Toei didn't try harder with these movies.
This movie was tedious as hell to me. That rant of yours was well warranted. I also forgotten about this movie. Now I remember why. The only good part is when the three Super Sayians transform. That and the unique genki dama. I also really love #15. He genuinely makes me laugh. Oh and Goku getting lowed blowed. Man that must of hurt like hell.
Gonna be honest, the only reason I remember this movie is because of the "Not until the fish jumps" exchange. Much prefer the Abridged Version, even if it is mostly just jokes.

One shouldn't have great expectation from a DB movie. I find them nothing more than a guilty pleasure. Good, flashy, epic fighting scenes, etc. this one also has nice drawings and animation.
Maybe its because I haven't seen enough women very shopping jokes to get tired of them, or maybe it's because of how you said it, but I laughed so hard when you brought that up
Oh no! I can't believe a Dragonball Z movie doesn't perfectly fit into the anime! This never happened before! But yeah it is formulaic. Even though Lord Slug did more things right...I still prefer to watch this over that. That said I love that spirit bomb music because I love Buu death in the Japanese version so that music has stuck with me.
I liked this movie though because it's one of the very few movies Vegeta had a true moment to shine, even for a little while...like killing an android on his own, in this case and yes, just for that, it's one of my favorites, along with the Metal Cooler one (even better again, in my opinion) and the OG Bardock tv special (hands down, my personnal number one, period, besides all the others ever made, even until nowadays), mostly. And a bit less for those with Broly, Bojack, Janemba and Hirudegarn, where Vegeta just became more and more useless by himself...well, at least he served for Gogeta fusion with Goku against Janemba, but yet he almost felt sorry to be even here, which I obviously hate it from him ! So...yep, that's pretty much it about my thoughts. Oh, and I also thought Fukkatsu No F was a better movie than Battle of Gods...

Depending on the project and situation, even if the rest of it is competent, if the package as a whole is boring, it's boring. There is no reason for me to sugarcoat it.
I've heard some people suggesting this this movie could of been used as a real place for Trunks and Krillian to go back to Gero's lab and find the secret lab, as it would make more sense than Cell just blabbing it all out needlessly for no real reason other than to inform the readers.

This movie was the first DBZ tape I ever owned. Everything before that had always been rented (or seen on TV). I very vividly remember a neighbor kid leaving halfway through watching the movie because he was bored.

Why does Toei like making Chi-Chi so over the top in terms of her shrillness? I never understood that.
I know that infuriates me so much. Toei completely shat on her. She is so much better in the manga and in Kai.

Also the "pure of heart" for super saiyan, is only to become one, not to stay as one.
In the aforementioned scene in this movie says he can't maintain it in Super Sayain. That was why he absorbed it's power. In the Boo arc he has no problem maintaining in Super Sayian form.
Toriyama was still probably in his RPG monster designer mindset when he came up with Super Artificial Human 13's look.

I judge DBZ movies on how far I can get through them without sighing. Longest movie I went without doing so is Movie 13. Shortest one is tie between the first Cooler movie and Resurrection F where I saw their covers and sighed.

One thing not mentioned is I thought the Arctic environment was really unique. I know it’s not much though it’s unique from the barren wastelands Toriyama has put in the manga at this point, so it’s something.
Well about Arctic, there's only the 2nd DBZ movie (with Dr. Willo, you know) with this one and the DBS Broly movie which is coming up next (like very soon now, from where we are) that use this kind of environment, precisely...and you're right, it's quite unique and pretty enjoyable about it !

I usually like Toriyama's designs, even the most questionable ones, when he designs a character at best their design tells you everything you need to know about that character and at worst it's just a weird design but No. 13... Everything about his final form its just wrong, first of all, he transforms into generic shirtless buff dude making his appearance really boring, then he has Vegeta's hair and no pupils, that literally sounds to me like a rejected Broly design and on top of that the color choice it's just awful, i know close to nothing about color theory but god damn even i know that this guys it's hard to look at, Blue skin, Orange hair and Green pants, who looked at that and said "yeah, that looks good for our bad guy" he stands out in every bad way because with that color scheme compared to the other characters he seems like he doesn't belong here, he feels like a crappy fan character.
I hope i explained myself because i seriously have been wanting to talk about that for a looooong time, i really, REALLY, hate No. 13's design, he's probably the laziest design Toriyama has ever done.

You know what Super Android 13 looks like? He looks like one of those knockoff action figures. He's an army man's legs and a superhero torso with Vegeta's head on it, painted bright blue with orange hair and yellow eyes and some random gray bits. You can _absolutely_ imagine the guy in a box labeled "DRAGON POWER MAN" along with some gun that doesn't fit in his hand and some miscolored picture of Goku stolen from Deviantart and splashed across the front, being sold discounted at Five and Below.
I always hate we didn't get a Red Ribbon Army part 2 after king Piccolo but before this and cell. It's sucks this is what the army been left to...sigh
I personally find 94's Broly sequels the absolute low point of the Z movies. At least 6 and 7 are straightforward about their brainless fighting formula. Movies 10 and 11 both start with a promising premise and character lineup, only for everyone to end up in a brawl against Broly for most of the runtime until the deus ex machina (Goku's ghost/Water) shows up at the end to help finish him off.

I have to say, though this movie is pretty bad and very formulaic, it had some fantastic fight scenes, choreography wise anyways. The action in this film was great, the setting was unique (yes I know the 2nd Z film was set in the arctic but that was inside a base not actually outside). We get to see a fight from the city and transition to the arctic. The movie satisfied me when I was a child, because I only cared about the action and that's all that I needed. Nowadays I know there's more to a story then that but I still remember and enjoy the action till this day, Goku and 13 fighting underwater, trunks fighting 2 androids at once being out matched, vegeta stepping in and destroying 15 in a glorious one punch clash fashion, trunks doing the classic samurai sword clash against 14, I could go on. Though a lot of these things are very similar to other things in the show and movie. I don't like this movie, but the action is still fun to go back and look at.
I think most of that stuff is kept intact in the abridged version

I think whether or not this movie is *the* worst Z movie comes down to whether the fact that it has no high points bothers you more than the low points not being as bad as in some later films.
Like, there's nothing exceptionally dumb in this film like the ending of Cooler 2 or Broly's backstory in the next one (I'd even say the ending is one of the more logical ones out of the Z films). But there's nothing fun either like a billion Coolers or Broly going on a rampage.
Sigilbreaker26 I definitely don’t think this is the worst Z film, far from it. That honor goes to broly’s second coming, with bio broly falling right behind it. Second coming is pointless, and pretty boring. It’s plot is bland and the action is just okay, well animated, but okay. Broly in that film gets pissed on by trunks, and the film has no tension. Also goku ex machina.

When I was making my CinemaSins video for this movie, I almost couldn't sit through it. It was worse than I remember it. I thought it was stupid how the Saiyans were spending over 20 minutes of the movie getting their asses kicked until they finally decided to go Super Saiyan. Not to mention Androids 14 and 15 leisurely walking through buildings to get to Goku instead of flying to him from the get go. That was nothing but Toei padding out the runtime in this zero plot movie.
I totally agree....Goku and Trunks both threw rocks at their opponents instead of transforming.
I really liked the English dub line of Goku commenting on the women shopping, saying it looked like mud wrestling he saw on TV. Not only that but apparently both Gohan and Goku watch women mud wrestle. For some reason this has me laughing my ass off.

One other thing that was particularly irksome in this movie compared to others. The whole "I'm not gonna go Super Saiyan until it's serious" my God. This movie is called "The three Great Super Saiyans" but there is barely any action with them at all Trunks gets double teamed by 14 and 15 nearly gets killed multiple times. Until he fights 14 one on one and then FINALLY turns Super Saiyan and we get to see him fight 14 for a total of 14 seconds before 14 dies.
Goku fights 13 Multiple times in BASE over and over again and nearly gets killed by 13's S.S. Bomb and FINALLY goes Super Saiyan and all we do is see him fire a bunch of ki blasts. We see most of the hand to hand stuff off screen.
At least with Vegeta, Vegeta only gets beaten around once and then transforms.
At one point before they transform into Super Saiyans. Goku throws an Ice block at 13 and Trunks does the same to his Androids. Really? You can boost your power 50 fold and you choose to throw rocks? Dumbass.
I think Movies 9 and maybe 13 are the only ones that could conceivably fit in the timeline with little issue.
I mean sure, Movie 9 (The Bojack one) has Future Trunks in it but that could easily be explained by him wanting to tell everyone in the present (his past) that he defeated the Future Androids and Future Cell only to get involved with the tournament.
Anyway, I’m guessing both manga and animé versions of History of Trunks is later this month.
Next year, the Cell Games, Broly, more Cell Games, Hatchyack, even more Cell Games, DBDTV of the Frieza and Garlic Jr. Sagas and Bojack (though this might stretch into 2020).

The only reason I remember it is because the off button for SS was found and Future Trunks was going to bring a sword to a ladies swimsuit competition which just fits my head canon for the boy so perfectly.

So I'm just spit balling here and I highly doubt I'm the first one to ever come to this conclusion, but the Cell arc establishes four different timelines for Dragon Ball.
1. The original unaltered time line where Trunks hails from.
2. The altered timeline that Trunks and Cell travel to that the series follows.
3. A variation of the first timeline where in Cell kills Trunks.
4. A hypothetical timeline that the Trunks from timeline 3 was trying to travel back to that was split when Cell travelled back instead.
In otherwords there is a timeline out there where Trunks still travels back to the present, but Cell doesn't. The androids are, presumably, defeated and Trunks returns to the future, defeats them again and then is killed by Cell, but the original timeline continues on nonetheless. In other words the Trunks in this movie is a younger version of the one Cell from the series later talks about killing (hell Trunks even uses his sword in this movie and in the flashback Cell has of killing him if I remember everything correctly, which lines up so well, though why it was never destroyed fighting 18 in the first place makes no sense).
So we're looking at a scenario where the androids were defeated (or rendered non hostile) because Future Trunks shows up, but Cell never subsequently shows up. Without Cell to tell them about the underground lab, Gero's computer just sits there with its cell plan another two decades away from completion and has no choice but to activate the earlier models (and fortunately for the heroes he does it within a time frame where Trunks is still hanging around). It actually lines up pretty well. Granted it requires fourth dimensional nerd thinking that the makers of the movie obviously never intended.
Several years late, I know, but I think this is the one case where mostly everyone agrees Funimation did it better.
Lines such as "IF THE GREAT GOKU CANT HANDLE THE INDIANS, WHY BRING OUT THE CHEF?" and "KID'S HAS BEEN OUT FOR THE SUN FOR WaAaAyYyY tOoOO LONG!" still make me laugh everytime.
The part about continuity was interesting. The movies don't fit well with the canon story, but how many of the movies can fit into each other's continuity? Is it possible to say there's a movieverse, or is it so convoluted that even each separate movie would practically have to be its own alternative universe?

You're right in that this movie is incredibly bland. These villains are just so lackluster that it is one of the rare times I largely don't mind their changes in the English dub. At least the English dub version of Android 13 had some amusing lines like, "Don't you lecture me with your $30 hair cut! Goku dies!" I think the only change about Android 13 in the English dub that I didn't like was him calling Goku a "city boy." That's an incredibly inaccurate and nonsensical nickname for Goku.
Also, while I won't deny that Android 13 has aspects of him that are definitely taken from Cell and is an analogue of him to an extent, it is not to the degree that Cooler is to Freeza or that Janemba is to Majin Buu. Android 13's similarities to Cell really only extend to being created by Dr. Gero and obtaining a more powerful form after absorbing other creations of Dr. Gero. However, Cell is a bug man who can absorb people by impaling his tail into them or cyborgs by opening up his tail and swallowing them whole to get more powerful. Android 13 is a robot who looks like a regular person and becomes more powerful by absorbing parts of other androids into him through his skin. It's not nearly as creepy as Cell's. I think a more accurate comparison for Android 13 would be that he's a malevolent version of Android 16 with a variation of gaining more power by absorption like Cell.
If you want an example of a character who I feel is a better analogue of Cell, I would point to Ozotto from the video game Dragon Ball V.R.V.S. Ozotto seems to have been based on one of Cell's earlier designs and mixed with Freeza's second form. He even has his own powered up form for fighting. However, instead of a mix between Freeza's true form and Cell's perfect form, Ozotto's powered up form is an inflated version of him with two extra arms making him look more like Cell's self-destruction form. I'm not saying this comparison this perfect, just that I feel Ozotto is better analogue to Cell than Android 13.
It always saddens me when you mention the Genki-Dama music because oh my god ever since I heard it when Goku defeated Majin Boo (yeah, that was the first time I heard it cause somehow I missed the Cell arc everytime it was on tv) it became my absolute favorite piece of Dragon Ball soundtrack. I always get so emotional when I hear it.
... Due to nostalgia, I might have a soft spot for the Boo arc even though it's not exactly... good.

Yeah, this movie is just the epitome of the movie series in terms of how formulaic and stale it gets. I've tried to watch it a few times again over the years, but I don't think I can sit down and watch it all the way through again. Funny how No. 17 and 18 are dropped into the start of the film, and never heard from again. I didn't even like Shunsuke Kikuchi's score for this one. Everything sucked. Well, I guess Piccolo trying to go for the body slam was cool, but that's about it. Too bad Toei didn't try harder with these movies.

One shouldn't have great expectation from a DB movie. I find them nothing more than a guilty pleasure. Good, flashy, epic fighting scenes, etc. this one also has nice drawings and animation.
Maybe its because I haven't seen enough women very shopping jokes to get tired of them, or maybe it's because of how you said it, but I laughed so hard when you brought that up
Oh no! I can't believe a Dragonball Z movie doesn't perfectly fit into the anime! This never happened before!
But yeah it is formulaic. Even though Lord Slug did more things right...I still prefer to watch this over that. That said I love that spirit bomb music because I love Buu death in the Japanese version so that music has stuck with me.
I liked this movie though because it's one of the very few movies Vegeta had a true moment to shine, even for a little while...like killing an android on his own, in this case and yes, just for that, it's one of my favorites, along with the Metal Cooler one (even better again, in my opinion) and the OG Bardock tv special (hands down, my personnal number one, period, besides all the others ever made, even until nowadays), mostly. And a bit less for those with Broly, Bojack, Janemba and Hirudegarn, where Vegeta just became more and more useless by himself...well, at least he served for Gogeta fusion with Goku against Janemba, but yet he almost felt sorry to be even here, which I obviously hate it from him ! So...yep, that's pretty much it about my thoughts. Oh, and I also thought Fukkatsu No F was a better movie than Battle of Gods...

Dirt is far more interesting. Dirt has interesting things happening in it. This has nothing to it. So don't insult dirt by putting in in the same level as this movie.

You're more insulting the animators, voice actors, and musician's who worked on this by acting like the entire movie was bad when really it was just the story.
@@fightingmedialounge519 As a cohesive unit the movie was dull. The fact that the score, acting, and animation were great doesn't change that for me. Depending on the project and situation, even if the rest of it is competent, if the package as a whole is boring, it's boring. There is no reason for me to sugarcoat it.
I always forget this movie exists. I was talking about dbz movies with friend a few weeks ago and I couldn't remember what movie 7 was to save my life
I've heard some people suggesting this this movie could of been used as a real place for Trunks and Krillian to go back to Gero's lab and find the secret lab, as it would make more sense than Cell just blabbing it all out needlessly for no real reason other than to inform the readers.
At least the Funi dub was... funny.
