I was racing pro downhill for titus cycles and at the shape of my life, got rear ended in a car wreck, and developed a neuromuscular disease called paraperisic spasticity. it got really bad to the point I couldn't ride anymore. I couldn't live without riding, and over the course of several years, starting back on a trainer and going from there, im back on the trail. I can hardly walk and have a hard time keeping my balance. but when im on the bike, absolutely nothing is wrong with me. I burst into tears when I saw the look on martyns face . I don't have words to describe, other than amazing. what a stellar group of guys. Martyn, believe me, the best rides of your life have yet to come. cheers and enjoy!!!!!!
Bikes are amazing things. In 2011 I broke my spine. Nearly four years on I'm in almost constant pain. Painkillers don't do much to get rid of it, but when I'm out on my bike I'm completely pain free. Keep riding.
Incredible, inspiring, awesome... If you haven't seen it yet, you need to check out Martyn Ashton's Back On Track. And, if you've already seen, you should probably watch it again...
+Global Mountain Bike Network .....hope to see martyn ashton back on his bike again with his mad crazy mates (mountian bike) that was a really awesone..
When I need to face a difficult moment, I come to this video and just forget about trivial things and enjoy the happiness and satisfaction of overcoming the real barriers life can put in front. Then, I look back at my situation and all looks so easy and simple...sometimes is about the pure joy of moving forward against all odds.
If you see it that way...then you are the twisted one and really have some issues. if, instead, you can feel his joy for doing what he loves most, what makes him forget for a brief moment his new situation...and use it to remind yourself that there's always something in life, no matter what, that will help you lift up your spirit, forget, and find peace, then you will understand my comment. Hope you find something soon that will let you get rid of this hate and need to underestimate your fellow ones. Sincerely, your friend.
Sam Hilton I know you meant this as a compliment but I'm really not surprised because he's known to be one of the all time greats, at least in trials. Apparently downhill too.
To the 65+ people who disliked this video: You have NO heart or soul and will never appreciate your privileges that you take for granted. I can't even find word to describe that people that disliked this touching and emotional video.
Chad Louis Dura being kid is not an excuse. A kid is not a heartless stupid creature. If he is, he will be the same adult. And age doesn't matter. Sorry, for my English, it is not my native language:)
😂 Are you fucking serious? Like or dislike - how the fuck would it make any sense to that guy? He’s gonna grow new spline or what? People can like or dislike whatever they want for million different reasons. My personal one - this is too pretentious.
if that was me I would have to stop and cry half way down. this video makes me so sad but happy that he's back on a bike :) I didn't realize it was the same amazing martyn ashton that did the cool roadie trials video.
I'm still blubbing after the third view. This is the best thing I've seen online this year by far. Martyn has always been an inspiration to me - and he's more of an inspiration now than ever. Really look forward to riding with you at some point soon Martyn!
it was endearing to watch this. No agenda, no politics, no marketing, no propaganda, no influencers, no fakery. It was joy, passion, humanity, friendship and love. Martyn, we all love you mate. x
OMG, I've been watching GMBN for 3 months, everyday and I always wondered why I didnt ever see Martyn in the videos riding. I had no idea, this was beautiful and he's still so skilled!!! Keep up the great work fellas.
Rode his bike like nothing could touch him, nothing put his beer down, .... Friends and lovers(childhood fan since the stupid video's with the other Martin and the german bloke) made him a bike they could strap him to and hey presto, he still knows how. This brought tears to my eyes. Thank you.
Martyn is amazing, nothing is better then riding a trail after a long term or permanent injury. You are such a rad guy and your an amazing inspiration. I truly can't describe how amazing you are
You can see the real happiness and joy of a person just by staring at his eyes. One of the more touching video i've evere seen. Awesome, a real hero! 👍💪
This is absolutely amazing! After spannering myself round a tree 15 years ago and giving up, I've only just got back on my bike - Watching Martyn do this makes my few broken bones and a dollop of necrotising fasciitis (nearly losing an arm to that nasty thing!) I suffered pale in to insignificance! Martyin, You are a true inspiration - Keep it up - Genuinely I had a tear in my eye watching this and it's given me the motivation to hit the trails harder than I dared before my crash years ago! Thank you!
Martyn Ashton I have never smiled and cried simultaneiously and so unexpectedly in my whole life. This, sir, was an absolute PLEASURE to watch. I have followed you so closely for the last few years and THIS is by far, my favourite of all the amazing videos you have made. Martyn, you are SUCH a huge inspiration to me, to your fans and to anybody that has ever watched any of your videos. Your family and friends must be so damn proud of you. I want to watch this 1000 times over. You have lifted my spirits expeditiously today. Robin Kitchin you've done it once again. Yet another beautiful masterpiece. You are a master of your craft. I was shocked at my own reaction to this. I literally cried, laughed, smiled, gasped and whooped throughout the entire thing. Your friends cycling beside you like that-beaming faces throughout. My heart feels 10 times larger after watching that.
Having just been to see Martyn on his Bike Party Tour, I,m revisiting the old videos. When you watch this, you can't help but smile, the buzz on his, and on his pals faces is just amazing to see......what a hero
This guy was one of my hero's back when I was a kid and it's amazing to see him do something he loves. If anyone needs any inspiration in life that anything is possible, watch this video.
This vid nearly brought me to tears. This mans resilience is out of this world, being able to keep riding and stay motivated after something so devastating. I love riding dirt jump/ street so much, I don't know how I would survive something like this. So many privileges we take for granted. Maximum respect for this man.
I was fighting back the tears, but it is all from joy. So glad to see you back in the saddle, and quite an impressive saddle at that! We love you Martyn!
Doing what you love wth your close mates or loved ones. It's such a simple thing, but when you're right in the moment, a million words aren't enough to explain how good that feeling is.
No I'm not welling up, I've just got some grit in my eyes...... I'll never moan about my age/climbing legs ever again! Awesome, just awesome. How can 49 weirdos not like this, what is wrong with you people?
I grew up watching Martyn, to see this is just heart breaking but he is a trooper for real. Not letting this get in the way of him biking, and he will still be better than 80% of us. Keep on rocking Martyn! We love respect and admire you. Hero
I just started biking for exercise and have going down the rabbit hole on UA-cam. I just discovered Martyn a few hours ago. My mother used a wheelchair due to Cerebral Palsy and my cousin due to spina bifida. I just want to say how inspiring this video is and how much I enjoy watching the guys interactions.

.Martin I just like to say watch this video loads of times. I’ve just watched it again. I take my hat off to you getting back on your bike. I think you are the legend on a bike. You are one of the best trials riders I have ever seen
Who can dislike this??? He said that not having legs takes his riding to a new level, as he can't make mistakes and needs to hold a LOT of speed. I'd be there to help him every single ride if I could.
Martyn, your proof that cycling and the human spirit are both truly awesome. Great to see you back in the saddle. Cheer from Saskatchewan...Keep flying high.................
absolute inspiration. I just went trough dialysis and 2 transplants and just getting my muscles and body back, while getting into mountain biking. I watched your vids while on dialysis and then after surgery in hospital. Thank you for the incredible inspiration, my utmost respect to you and your amazing friends.

Velofil same here! I was weeping with joy watching this. His face and the surprising look he gave when he bounced over those bumps, awesome.
Velofil Awwwman, me too! Seriously. Great job Martyn and GMBN.

can you please give Martyn an electric mountain bike?! This video is a great inspiration and I would think an e-bike can take it to the next level.
dito milian E-Bikes dont move on thier own. They require you to pedal the bike. I think you mean an electric dirt bike.
Nah the dudes such a legend some ebike company would probably make him something custom for his body
No I'm not welling up, I've just got some grit in my eyes......

This is a very nice Video :) that makes me smiling :) but a e-bike like the stelth bomber would be perfect for him
Sorry for shitty english
Biking4ever I was thinking the same thing
Biking4ever same
But if someone is paralysed from waist down, the use of legs is severely compromised? E bikes are very good for people with knee injuries though.
Its not shitty!
Dislikes? wtf
Put a motor in the bike so you don't have to push it.
He said hes tried it but he doesn't like it because it makes him feel like hes cheating
BIG respect!!! This is true love for MTB and bikes!!
