Mufti Menk recently wrote the forward to a brand new English translation of the Holy Quran too. That being said, from what limited knowledge I have, the Arabic language has a depth of description that simply does not translate word-for-word to English. I liked this lecture. It really shed some light on the role of women in Islam because anyone who has issues with the Deen always talks about the rights of women in Islam. Can someone clarify the term war booty and captives who apparently where forced into acts which was made them to feel it was the capturers right? Should a Muslim Women who is in captive submit to her captives needs despite being married, being a devoted worshipper of Allah?
As far as i got to know about war booty i can explain u sister hope it will clear some doubts. If they are believers and wants to remain clean it is advised to the capturer marry them off to believers (4:25) and if they are non-believers then they can be kept as captives and still live a decent life. Islam gave them enough dignity to live a peaceful life.
I feel safer and protected in modest clothes and a face mask that covers like noqab. I live in the west, where this is accepted, but maybe considered a little odd, where an actual niqab may leave exposed to verbal and even physical abuse.
