What the hell is the mayor doing about it besides talking? When he first got into office he kept giving the people of Birmingham promises of turning Birmingham around but it only got worse. What the hell is the mayor doing about it besides talking? When he first got into office he kept giving the people of Birmingham promises of turning Birmingham around but it only got worse. Birmingham is not that big and it could be an easy fix. First, there should be no abandoned houses. Start with that. Put cameras up around the city. Put your beat cops on the streets. They should patrol more than just 3rd avenue and arkadelphia Rd. Give up that mayor's seat if he cant do any better.
The mayor or any other mayor can't fix the problem. This is a culture of violence pushed on the youth. It's glamorized in music and Hollywood. The fix is strong men that are willing to step up and teach the youth a better path and self control in life. The government loves the narrative this kind of stuff gives them. It keeps people divided and lets them push racism. Skin color does not matter to God, it should not matter to people either. People are not groups, they are individuals and should be treated as such. When your politicians start grouping people together for division call them out on it loudly.

I grew up in ensley and used to ride my bike through all those areas. Never had any problems. But today, no one wants to support the police. Birmingham has lost its respect over 35 or 40 years ago. No One believes what anybody is saying, and they never will. Birmingham only supports the police when it makes them look good. Outside that they're only out for themselves, what I mean is the elect. The rest of us is nothing but subjects. That's why I got out of Jefferson county. Because the people that have been elected to run, don't care.

"When is it going to become Our City", the radius of your world depends on your mode of transportation. If you are a pedestrian you may only go to the West side a few times in a few years. A cyclist may ride through another "zone" occasionally, someone in a Cop Car driving the streets all day has a much bigger city.
