Would you like to see more videos about shooting/editing for Instagram?
Can’t wait to see the editing part!
Yes please
Most definitely...pi.
YES!!!
Yes both shooting/editing
Thank you so much for having me on E! Truly a blessing to collab with an absolute sports videography 🐐
Any time! You've given so much value to my channel and I'm extremely grateful. Next time I go back to the motherland we'll have to connect!
@@BeyondTheGame_E Oh for sure! 🤞
Hey Peter when you say shoot wide what focal length are you talking? 70mm or wider than that? Great stuff!
@@coachpluggedin5608 I’m not necessarily shooting at a certain focal length the whole time. I still shoot my wide shots, mediums, and close-ups by zooming in and out - I just make sure that anytime I’m shooting action or something that I might want to stabilize later that I’ve left sufficient space on the edges of the image and can keep my subject somewhere near the middle of the frame the entire time.
@@petersarellas thanks man!
Great info, I shoot majority of the time for sports footage vertically but I am definitely looking forward to trying some of the techniques I’ve seen on your channel. Thank you
Awesome stuff E & Peter! Keen for pt2!
Thanks Andy!
I Ben looking for a channel like this for a long time! Definitely subscribing🙏🏽
Welcome to the channel Alexis!
@@BeyondTheGame_E have a question could I film stuff like this with a GoPro hero 8?
I think I answered you on a different video.
Let me know if you saw it.
@@BeyondTheGame_E yeah I saw, thanks
Yo thanks so much me and my high school friend play basketball for fun but this helped so much when I was tryna record some highlights
🙏🏽
The perfect collaboration!! 🏀🔥🏀🔥
bro exactly what im looking for
Glad it’s helpful!
What lense works best for recording in a gym for basketball
Depends on the zoom range you are after and on your budget.
Great video, awesome to see these collabs!
It’s so great to see how much this videography niche has grown over the last couple years.
The content we all needed! Thank you E & P! Time to crank out some content #inspired
I needed it too!
Great tips ! Don you think that the MKE-200 mic would make the captured sound a bit better ?
I don’t know that particular mic but all external mics are typically better than the on-camera microphone.
What is the best camera/video/GoPro to use to film? Thank you I’m advance
I think this video will be very helpful to you ua-cam.com/video/U9MY0tWgfro/v-deo.html
Great collab and very useful content 😁
I also now starting to film basketball game , but should I buy any tripod or holder ? Because in ur video said that will have swip left to right by using barehand?
If you are on the sidelines and you have image stabilization in your camera or in your lens, you don't really need a tripod. And filming handheld will help with the camera movements mentioned in this video. But if you have no stabilization and/or filming from a bit further away, a tripod will be useful. No gimbals either way though, basketball is too fast for gimbals.
Well I have a 14mm t.2.1 lens/ 24mm 2.8 sigma 30mm 1.4 / 5omm 1.8/ 18-105G 4.5 lens
My two cameras Sony A6500& I had a A7iii
Sold& upgraded to the A7IV?
Cool kit!
@@BeyondTheGame_E thanks
Ok Major issue this weekend I recorded basketball 🏀 games from Saturday 945am -830pm with my A7IV. But the. Files xavcs-hs
Some are very huge 1-48+ gb in size
And the same for Sunday
My question is I was in photo mode. Press stop& switch from photo& video Im not sure if it's recording in S&Q or not????
How can I find that out?
@@Smooth1productions Why do you need to know if it was shot in S&Q or not? If the frame rate is what you want it, that's all that matters isn't it?
W video
A coach here. What would you suggest I use to film my basketball games.
It depends… is your intention to simply put the camera on a tripod and let it record by itself? Or will someone be operating it.
Just uploaded some basketball highlight tapes using my Sony ar7ii 2.8 at 120fps
What Camera could you advice a beginner in video highlight ?
Here’s the camera I currently recommend to all sports videography beginners ua-cam.com/video/jSUgCbzV9KE/v-deo.html
I appreciate this video
I've shoot quite a few just gotta get better with editing I use FCP I downloaded your shot list also
A Canadian collab!
It'd be awesome to have Peter McKinnon in the mix.
I seem to get along well with videographers named Peter so who knows..!!
@@comwizkid that’s the dream!
Can i film on a dragon touch vision 3 sports camera ?
Depends what type of video you are trying to do. You won't be able to zoom in with that camera so all your footage is going to be super wide. It could look cool from right underneath the basket but everywhere else will feel a bit far from the action.
Doing a mixtape type thing and thank you so much for answering
@@toorapid_chooo5677 Yeah I think this would be great as a second camera but you might struggle with it as your main camera.
Very useful
Great vid, took some good tips from it. Thanks.
That’s good to hear!
Awesome.. thank you
Thank you for the gems brotha!
Over cranking ✍🏾 pi.
I'm shooting a basketball 🏀 tournament Saturday & sunday
Good luck 👍🏽
what lens would you recommend i get to shoot? i’m just starting out with a sony a7rii and a 16-50mm lens (which ik won’t cut it). i was thinking a 55-210mm lens but idk, what’s your recommendation for a wide lens ?
The lenses that I recommend to everyone are the two lenses in this video:
ua-cam.com/video/omGdWeu0LLg/v-deo.html
What app u use for editing
Adobe Premiere Pro
Do u have to pay for that
@@r3dpics Unfortunately yes. That's one of the most professional editing software on the market.
Would you tell me a free one that’s us good pls
@@r3dpics Here's a video I made about the top 3 free options ua-cam.com/video/_IlNH8du6aM/v-deo.html
would you mind showing music's title using in these clips?
Sure, both tracks come from Epidemic Sound:
Fluorescent - Cushy
I'm Wild - Mo Stacks
what camera do u use to shoot the basket ball videos ?
In this video Peter is using a Sony A73.
Canon strap on a Sony is melting my brain
Nice!!!
@beyondthegame i have a sigma 16mm f1.4 lens do you think it would work good for shooting basketball I have a g master 70-350 f4.5 also which lens you think would be better?I’m shooting on Sony a7iii
Definitely go with the second one. You need a zoom lens to film sports.
@@BeyondTheGame_E ok thank you
This video was extremely helpful. Now I can use my DJI osmo mobile 3 with my iPhone and get some better shots!
I'm guessing you'll be trying those in-camera transitions?
@@BeyondTheGame_E I’m trying to do that. Most of my work thus has simply been doing live-streaming games but I never had the time to do just the sports highlights of the game in 60 FPS with all of the movement that is required for me to be at different places on the court. I can do that during practices but not doing the game because I’m live-streaming the games.
@@ready2stream Makes sense. What you need is an extra camera person dedicated to highlights.
@@BeyondTheGame_E nothing but the truth right here. I do need an extra person. Thank you for your advice.
Camera specs? Lens type
Any camera will do really. It just depends on your expectations. Regarding lenses, here are the ones that I recommend for sports ua-cam.com/video/omGdWeu0LLg/v-deo.html
What if i’m shooting at 60fps what should I over crank to?
I would suggest 1/200 or slightly slower if it's a bit too much.
@@BeyondTheGame_E Thank you so much, You and peter have really inspired me !
What apeture do you uses the pokus is always in.
I think Peter has an f/4 lens if I'm not mistaking.
I need a little redefine while shooting video
Because I'm older than the team of younger video crews of 2-4 guys that show up
While I'm recording tournament games!
I need to get a slight edge against these crews that pop up
I ordered your lut pack
I
I'm a bit older myself and used to be insecure about it but ultimately it's the hard work and dedication that sets you apart, not the younger perspective. Spending the extra time on color grade, sound design, etc. while everyone else just wants to post as fast as possible, that's how you stand out in my opinion.
@@BeyondTheGame_E Love this opinion, as I tend to think the same. Everyone wants quick and fast nowadays, and to some customers, that's the goal, but to really stand out, you need to take care of editing and shooting itself.
Interesting take thst he shoots wide & slomo 👍🏼
Absolutely, I learned a lot myself. Wait till you see the editing part!
Agreed!
I’m really trying to learn how to film my basketball content but I don’t have an actually camera man, how can I still make a great video doing it alone?
You can always leave your camera on a tripod and try to move it around from time to time but it will never be as good as having someone behind the camera the whole time. It’s hard work to make great videos, you need to spend the time if you want the results. Just like basketball. I would recommend trying to link up with a videographer who's looking for content and is willing to help.
As I'm recording they talking amongst each other during shots
I'm looking at what your doing
👀
how can I find the different angles of the clips?
Are you talking about the clips in this video or just clips in general?
@@BeyondTheGame_E yes, clips in general, like not just clips from the tv angle
@@justcrwnd6336 use the replays.
Are you French canadian?
Oui #514 ✊🏽
If maxwell and Trevor Noah had a baby
😂
Is using a GoPro 9 for street basketball a good idea?
It could work if you are able to get on the court and get some cool close-up shots. Otherwise you can still film the game from the sidelines but you’ll struggle to put together a nice highlight reel since all your footage will be quite wide.
@@BeyondTheGame_E thanks for the reply! Appreciate you spreading the knowledge.
Are you québecois?
Oui
@@BeyondTheGame_E noice
Man that was not informative
Why do you say that?
